  1. Cots isn’t adding in the $15 mil in medicals that is required now for cap calculation
  2. What the Sox did is rare. Rarely do you find teams who throw good money after bad become successful. The Yanks did it for years and got one ring out of it. The Sox have now done it for three and are on the verge of a win
  3. It’s more an observation. I legitimately could care less. But the next time I hear the Sox brass or fans whine about the Yankees spending, I’ll bring this nice tidbit back to life
  4. If the Sox take the title, they will become the most expensive championship team of all time and it ain’t close. That record, to this point, belongs to the 2009 Yankees. The Yanks were the only team to win a title with a payroll north of $200 mil. They finished the year at $203 mil. The Sox, this season, have spent over $40 mil more.
  5. Eo has always been a guy with tantalizing stuff but inconsistent production. That cutter has kept lefties honest and it’s allowed his velocity and movement of his FB-slider combo to be that much more deadly. The Rays did more for him than he’ll ever know. They rehabbed him and taught him a cutter.
  6. I called Sox in 6. If they rack Buehler, then it’s gonna be a sweep
  7. Well, it helps to have pitchers who can actually pitch to that edict. I also believe Roberts has to get blame here. He pulls Ryu with the sacks packed, 2 outs and a 1 run lead. Why go to Madson? Of all the analytic approaches and second level scouting etc, why go to your worst reliever in what is likely to be the biggest spots just because it’s the 5th inning? Why not go Baez? Why go with a guy who was effectively cut from a .500 Nats team and wasnt much better in LA? Roberts is literally managing for his job, as crazy as that sounds. He’s heading into lame duck territory and seems to come up with bad choices in the biggest games.
  8. Price was on point. But your pen was perfect from the 7th on. I wonder if Eovaldi goes game 4, because to this point he’s been just the balls wherever he throws. The Dodgers need to regroup if they’re gonna get back in this thing. Roberts has been winning through the NL playoffs by having two lineups depending on who he’s facing, but he’s sitting two of his best players when the Sox start a lefty. Now I get Pederson sitting vs lefties because he’s hitting almost .100 against them, but Bellinger and Muncy should be out there. They work the count better and can lose one against anyone. With the Sox clearly having an advantage going left handed, I’d consider throwing ERod in game 4. I know Porcello is going game 3. That game should be a slugfest. Buehler looks like a future ace, but he’s exactly the kind of player the Sox demolish. With Porcello going and no real left handed pen threat, the Dodgers will be going with their A lineup at home. Friday should be fun.
  9. The sox have been pitching every team the same. The Yanks, Astros and Dodgers all have big homerun hitters. The sox aren't gonna leave a pitch to be hit out. This is leading to their starters going 4-5 innings, but it is also keeping the sox offense in the game long enough to make plays. They have deviated from what worked in the regular season, but it is working. You guys are 8-2 in the playoffs with a 7-2 mark against 100 win or more AL teams.
  10. You cannot. He was dealt in season, he is ineligible
  11. I know Grandal is having issues catching the ball, but Barnes is entirely overmatched on the big league level.
  12. That's a good pitch. Jam shot fisted to center. What are you gonna do. Price is really living on the corners tonight
  13. Kike can hit. This year has been a bit of a down year. Price is playing this right. He can always mow down the overmatched Barnes if need be
  14. Eovaldi is turning in a postseason for the ages. He’s got tantalizing stuff and is finally healthy. He’s gonna get paid. I’d agree with the sentiment halfway through the post. Sale’s shoulder is a real concern. His loss of velocity is a huge concern. He looks human after a regular season where he looked invincible. Eovaldi will shore up that rotation, but he won’t be cheap
  15. Swihart’s roster spot allows for Cora to aggressively switch between his two lead catchers at a moments notice without burning his emergency catcher. Swihart will see no playing time outside of a laugher
  16. Cora has outmanuevered all managers in this postseason. The crucial call in this one was the Nunez for Devers P.H. Roberts had to see that one coming. Baez has been absolutely lights out this post season. He’s a reliever. Men are on base. Removing him for a starter with guys on was bad enough, but knowing you weren’t going to see the platoon advantage because Cora was clearly going to put in a R.H. hitter was egregious. Now Wood is no slouch, but he’s a good NL back of the rotation starter. That’d be like us pulling Betances for CC against Devers, with 2 guys on, knowing it’s be Nunez. Go with the guys that got you there Dave. The Sox offense woke up in NY and hasn’t been suppressed since. I’ve called Sox in 6 from the beginning. I believe I called a split of the first two. That doesn’t change tonight, where I don’t expect Mr Tingles to do well. That being said, the Cali starters will be pitching in the same awful elements. The Sox are undefeated on the road this post season, which boggles the mind.
  17. This is why they got Pom on the roster. Let Barnes face Turner, but Muncy is gonna hit for Freeze
  18. Maybe we get Yusei Kikuchi. Lefty power pitcher who had a down year (still pretty fantastic). At his best, mid 90s with a deadly slider/change combo. Projected mid rotation. Would t mind adding him plus an ace
  19. I think diminished Chris Sale loses the opener to Kershaw. The Sox get Ryu out early in game 2 and beat the Dodgers pen. The Sox do the same against Hill in game 3. They tattoo Buehler as the Sox demolish fastball pitchers without impeccable command. They lose game 5 against Keyshawn again. They take the title home vs Ryu in Boston
  20. It’s not whether he could do it or not. It’s whether he gets hurt or if the ball finds him in a clutch situation and he cannot make the play. The Dodgers are a really good, experienced and deep team. Dispatching then won’t be easy, and putting someone at 2b who hasn’t played it in many years is not a great recipe for success. That being said, I get the point of it. Subtract an offensive minus and keep the core of your lineup in the lineup. It’s risky
  21. Cashman confirms we will be heavily involved in the pitching market. In other news, water is wet. I think we will see two big additions to the rotation, one subtraction in Gray and maybe a ST deal for a vet if the kids look rough in ST. Wouldn’t be surprised to see us in on Kershaw when he opts our. He’s still young, but there’s lot of miles on that arm and a back issue is always concerning. But he’s as good as it gets
  22. They’ve got the left handed starters and would benefit from using them in games 1-3. Throw Buehler game 4 and hope to catch lightning in a bottle. The Dodgers are one of the deeper teams in the post season while the Sox aren’t as deep, they are the best. This is gonna be a good series. I still predict Sox in 6, but I am clearly rooting for Dodger blue
  23. Sale had a cellulitis due to a belly button ring. Wow.
