  1. Eovaldi just secured himself a long deal. Remember, he will turn 29 in February. He recovered completely from his latest TJS. His stuff is as good as ever. His cutter is making him deadly. Yes, it is part of a season, but he is proving to be a lion in the playoffs. Heck, he might end up in pinstripes, lol
  2. I am rooting for LA. They were on the precipice last season. This year, the Dodgers are the only ones capable of giving the sox a series. They are also very left handed, something that gives the sox issues. If the Brewers win the next 2, the sox might sweep. Any team that has no starting pitching is going to die in Boston.
  3. They’re left handed.
  4. Nah, it’s gonna be the Dodgers and their multiple lefty starters. Heck, if I’m Roberts, I show Kershaw, Ryu and Hill in 1-3.
  5. The Sox were better than the Yanks. The Sox were more poised than the Astros. I haven’t seen a defending champ so lifeless once punched in the mouth. They took game 1. Game two didn’t go their way. They battled a bit in 3 and 4, but once the lead was given back, they turtled. Game 5, they just gave up. Have never seen that before. It’s almost like the Astros just became contented around that one ring. Just an embarrassing performance for Houston
  6. What a turn of events. Congrats on getting to the WS. Wow
  7. By moving price down from game 6, this is essentially a punt. It gives Price a built in excuse for his suckage against a pitcher who has dominated when his back is against a wall. This also burns Verlander from everything hit a game 7 relief experience. If the Sox somehow pull this game off, then they’re just destined to win. On paper, this should be an 8-0 whitewash
  8. I agree with one point above. The Astros look like a team that hasn’t been here before and the Sox look like the defending champs. The Astros are playing not to lose at this point. They’ve lost their edge
  9. Verlander has thrown in three elimination games to this point in his career, and he hasn’t allowed a run. David Price sucks in the playoffs and has never thrown on 3 days rest. Everything points to the Astros bringing this back to Boston. That being said, it’s gonna be real hard for Houston to take both games in the Fens
  10. Harper is probably more likely anyway
  11. For a “depleted” farm, we still have 4 top 100s and probably the deepest farm below the AA level. We have the ability to get good talent without giving up any big league talent. The way I look at it, we would have to make room for any offensive additions beyond Harper as our only open spot is LF. I guess we could send Stanton out to LF if we got a plodding hitter, but that doesn’t sound like what we are going for. I do think we can get at least one good prospect for Gray. While his numbers overall sucked, his road numbers were pristine. That will help the system. Currently, our rotation consists of Severino, Tanaka, Sheffield, Loaisiga, and German if you consider Gray’s trade inevitable. We have two spots to fill as I think we will go into 2019 with that fifth spot being an open competition between all the kids who have auditioned. If the kids can’t do it, we have JMont returning at the ASB or so. I’m adding two, I am unsure who they’ll be. I think Corbin is high on the list, although I like Keuchel too. I wonder if a Eovaldi reunion could be on the horizon too. Bumgarner is out there as well. We could also get DeGrom or Thor. I think we can get MadBum for less than DeGrom or Thor simply due to control as MadBum is only under control for one more year. We could probably get MadBum without hurting the current roster. If we go for one of the Mets duo, we will have to send Andujar plus as they’re both under control for two seasons or more.
  12. Bregman is making the case to be MVP whether the Stros win or not
  13. How are you pitching to him right now?
  14. We are getting pitching. You can be sure of that. I wonder if we see a true blockbuster. Imagine a deal with Sevy going elsewhere and bringing in Bumgarner or something like that. I keep forgetting that Kershaw is a FA
  15. Did Pressly have this kind of stuff in the sox minors? Wow, he is electric
  16. Dumb managing from Hinch. Keuchel allows 1 hit after the JD double and he pulls him. He only had 84 pitches also. Smith comes in and give up the long ball
  17. Nunez giveth and he taketh away
  18. That cutter really revolutionalized Eo. He’s headed for a gigantic payday
  19. 2 good pitches, 2 great pieces of hitting
  20. Eovaldi has a maddening ability to get blown out when you least expect it. He is either dominant or absolutely abysmal and very little inbetween. If he has found a way to battle through when he doesn't have his top stuff, then he will be an elite pitcher
  21. Maybe the punky side will help them in NY
  22. The dichotomy is crazy. The Astros are the best hitting team by OPS vs lefties, yet are almost 80 points lower against righties. The sox are the best hitting team by OPS against righties, yet are almost 100 points lower vs lefties. Both teams flip flop the arms on the mound from 2LHP for the sox and 2RHP for the Astros to the other in game 3. Keuchel has an ERA north of 8 against Boston since 2015. Eovaldi had been nails vs the Astros from 2015-2017, but this year, in his only start, he got hit around a bit.
