  1. Garza is dirty. Think about this, he's only in his second yr. This kid is gonna be better than all of them on that staff.
  2. I agree. I would not be surprised if we started the yr with Joba in the 4 and Hughes in the 5. I also wouldnt be surprised if Joba is the 5 and Hughes is in AAA
  3. After dominating his first 2 starts in the AFL, Hughes was crushed today, allowing 7ER in 2.1IP. But there was a reason. He had a blister that caused his early exit and leaves him questionable for his next start. Apparently, he's working in a 2 seamer and a cutter to round out his repertoire. We'll see if he feels comfortable throwing them next season to MLB hitters. Apparently the pitches have been pretty good in terms of location and movement
  4. this was already mentioned
  5. odor of alcohol and open container. So he didnt fail a sobriety test and his BAC was within normal limits? Or did they not have that info? I am never one to condone someone driving under the influence (especially since I get to see the results of a lot of DUI crashes and it aint pretty) but if he wasnt clinically intoxicated, it doesnt sound too bad. Its the guys who blow 2-3 times the legal limit that are really the danger. Who knows, Joba may have done that and we dont know. Either way, its a strike against him. BTW, the highest BAC I have ever seen was >.6 (ie we can only detect up to .6) and he was still talking. In other words he was 7.5 times the legal limit.
  6. so, like I said during the angels series, the sox are gonna win the f***ing world series
  7. I think the sox may want to avoid setting a precedent here, though. Anything CC gets, Beckett will want to match. Anything Burnett gets, Beckett will want to exceed.
  8. The sox claimed Dewon Day and let Smith go.
  9. The Yankees can be interested in Peavy all they want, he needs to waive the NT and he said he wont go to the AL
  10. thats actually not that bad. The thing I find problematic is the fact that the it took so long to find a defibrillator. Typically, a coding patient reaches the hospital and they dont make it. If they are defibrillated in the field, then the chances of them living increase significantly. I have not once seen a patient who was being coded in the field come back to life in the ED. If the patient arrives to the ED in vfib or asystole or PEA, then most dont make it. It is all about the paramedics.
  11. I have been hearing the sox in the mix for CC through a lot of the sources. Granted, they are throwing in all the large market teams, which sounds like a good way to generate non-news. But it is an interesting question. Do the sox chase CC? Or even more, do the sox chase any pitching this offseason? I think the entire plan centers around Beckett. Beckett is entering the last yr of his contract, although the sox do own an option for 2010. If the sox sign CC, then the sox set a precedent that would make Beckett a wee bit snippy. And with Beckett likely entering FA as a 29 yr old, he's gonna be getting a megadeal. That being said, the sox have another ace in Lester and a damn good pitcher in DiceK. Therefore, I think the sox will kick the tires, but I dont think they will commit the 22 or so mil a yr to CC. Then again, if they did and the sox had a rotation of Beckett, CC, Lester, DiceK, and Buchholz/Bowden/Masterson/Wake, then they'd be even nastier
  12. I am expecting a death blow to be struck in this inning
  13. your chances begin with Kazmir and if you dont chip away while he's on the hill and throwing balls, then this is over. The Rays pen is solid and now rested.
  14. You have 6 outs to chip into this lead. If this goes into the 6th with a 5 or more run deficit then its over
  15. Gom isnt going anywhere. This is nothing compared to some other things he's done. He's an institution whether you like it or not.
