  1. Part of that was on Melky, though. Melky shouldnt have care about the runner going to 3rd. But the runner going to 2nd was a bigger detriment
  2. hey, so, Albaladejo is falling apart.
  3. when you have Lester on the hill, you should keep your offense in. He has a history of exploding in one inning this yr. And if the jays put up a 5 spot, you are gonna want Papi batting.
  4. But I am really impressed by Aceves. He is right around the plate, has late movement on his pitches and really challenges hitters.
  5. Tomko is an enigma. He throws so hard and has a wicked breaking ball. But he just doesnt do well. I dont get it.
  6. 3.1 scoreless innings from Aceves. And he went 2 innings yesterday too. He's been everything we could have asked for and more.
  7. 2 more baserunners, another slithering escape from an inning from Lester.
  8. Batting Average on Balls in play. Essentially it is BA after subtracting homers and K's. Theoretically, it should be right at .300.
  9. The only way the Mets make that deal is if they part with Fernando Martinez, and they are apparently completely unwilling to do so. The Mets have now made two trades over the last 16 months that involved a large amount of prospects and personell for 2 players. Their prospect levels are barren. John Niese is the biggest pitcher left, and I dont think he's good enough to be a centerpiece of a deal. Especially when you compare what the White Sox were offering. Their package was impressive
  10. Kevin Millar, the king of the foul homerun
  11. I hope they dont go with Aceves. I really like him in this swing role. I think he will lose some effectiveness out of the rotation. If you go from a sheer upside POV, Hughes is a much better rotation option. I am just very, very concerned that a Hughes to the BP move would shorten his arsenal. He's now had 1 fantastic start, one good start, and 2 very poor starts. This is what is expected at this point. He's inconsistent. But I like some of what I have seen. His cutter could be a very effective pitch, but he is very wild with it. I have seen him try to use it on lefties with some success, but sometimes, it doesnt cut and stays down the middle. I've seen him try it on righties where it cuts out of the zone and causes him to get behind. I like his 2 seamer too, especially as a front door option vs lefties. But he's had it ride out to the middle of the plate too. His curveball is now much more potent, but his 2 bad nights seemed to be keyed upon a complete lack of command of the curve. And his change has been hit or miss too. I just think that the last 2 yrs have left him an unfinished product. And I said from day 1 that a full yr in the minors would help him. And I stand by that.
  12. Lester hasnt been very good tonight. He's dodging liners all over the place. His stuff has been solid. But he seems to make one mistake in every AB.
  13. Aceves mowin em down
  14. Melkman continues his hot start. 4-0 yanks
  15. Aceves has been pretty solid to this point, 11 innings in. He doesnt have the best stuff in the world, but he makes up for that with a deep arsenal and good location. He throws something like 6 pitches. 4 seamer, 2 seamer, cutter, change, slider and curve. He could be a very good swing pitcher, something we havent had since Mendoza
  16. Joba is out of the game. Alfredo Aceves in. f***. I am concerned about his fibula. We'll see. Karstens broke his and was out for a LOOOONG time.
  17. He can't get anything down since getting drilled in the knee.
  18. He just doesnt get it. I do find it funny that he continues to attack my profession though. Maybe he's just jealous. Either way, he can say what he wants. In terms of the Hughes point, it has nothing to do with the pitchers who were relievers and became starters. It has everything to do with the fact that Hughes has 3 completely new pitches to master. And it is obvious that he hasnt gotten there yet. His knuckle curve is new. Granted, he's been throwing the curve since he came to NY, the tighter, faster curve is a new phenomenon and he needs to master it. He also is throwing a cutter and a 2 seamer, something he has limited experience with. THat drastic an arsenal change in such a young and unfinished product should necessitate some minor league time to get comfortable with it. If he goes to the pen, he'll go back to being the 4 seamer, curve guy he was a yr ago, and that guy couldnt get anyone out. And as is right now. If he continues to throw 93-94 and show the kind of stuff he has, his ceiling is a lot higher than a #4. But then again, it is difficult for Gom to compute data. The only data he can compute is the sales tax on the squishee he's selling.
  19. Hughes should not go to the pen. Period. Next yr, we have a hole in the rotation. Hughes is 22. He's the best pitching prospect per se that we have. Pettitte's gone after this yr. We'll have a hole in the rotation. Hughes should be able to fill it. What I find funny is that your stance on him changes on a whim. One game, he's lights out and "he can be an asset." The next game, he shits the bed and he's f***ing terrible. HE'S A 22 YR OLD PITCHER WHO HAS THREE NEW PITCHES THIS SEASON! He shouldnt even be in the majors right now. The pitcher he will be in 2010 will far overshadow the inconsistent pitcher he is now.
  20. More like 480 mil if ARod meets incentives
  21. 2 homers and 4 RBIs between them tonight.
  22. Damon with the ribbie single. Tex with the blast. 9-1. Wow.
