  1. Lets look at his post ASB OPS's over the last 4 yrs 2008- .643 2007- .890 2006- .739 2005- .693 3 of those 4 are under the average he put up for his career.
  2. 9 in a row. This team is a rolling. Got good news on Joba. The offense continues its hot streak. Cano and Melky came through big early. And the pen sans Alby was spotless.
  3. THAT ISNT THE POINT. You just dont get it. I am dropping this because you just dont have the IQ to understand the confounders.
  4. Brackman threw a gem. 8IP 5H 1ER 6K. He really got hot over his last 5 starts. 30IP 26H 8ER 10BB 26K 2.40ERA 1.20WHIP 7.8K/9IP. He is really starting to come together and might be ready for a promotion.
  5. the long term ramifications have already been laid out. He is using 5 pitches now. 4 of them are under construction. And as a reliever, he wont be using all of them. I am concerned that a pen assignment would relegate him back to 2 pitches, when his cutter, 2 seamer and change need some work.
  6. Gom, I have been married for quite some time now. So no tube sock needed. Second, you have to review tape in college. Its actually mandatory. Your soccer team could have been more prestigious. A lot of good that does you on a baseball site. And fourth, 2008 isnt getting done. I have already conceded it based on the fact that Posada's arm led to a massive running party and contributed significantly to runs allowed. 2009 will get done when Molina and Posada actually have a statistically significant sample size.
  7. well, maybe, maybe not. Lowell typically is a terrible second half player. But his april also lacked patience this yr too. It may be a new trend.
  8. f***. Tying run at the plate in Roberts. Whew. Veras gets out of it.
  9. I think the next arm we see aside from Melancon and Robertson will be Kontos. He used to be a hell of a 4 seamer slider combo. But he's lost some velocity in the rotation. I bet he'll end up being a hell of a short reliever with that combo.
  10. And I respect that opinion. I think the short term gains wont be worth the long term ramifications
  11. I agree, it is very, very early. But it is an interesting thing to look at, because of the fact that he's typically patient. BTW, Carlson was a very good HS pitcher. Played with and against him. He had a ridiculous 2 seamer at that time.
  12. Do you read what you type? Of course I saw him miss his spot. Remember Gom. I played college ball. You didnt. My team crushed the college you were too much of a pussy to try out for. And in college you actually learn how to study the game. You chart, review tape, study pitches, tweak ABs, etc. In High School, it was mostly a grip it and rip it experience. Dont try to big game me Gom. I have forgotten more baseball than you will ever know.
  13. any word on his velocity?
  14. .265 with a .700OPS. Like I said before, it is very strange for Lowell who typically walks about 50 times a yr. As it stands right now, he is on pace for 23 walks in a 600 PA season.
  15. George Kontos is starting to make a case for a promotion. He's now thrown 16.1 consecutive scoreless innings. His first 2 starts in AAA were pretty crappy. But the last 3 have been solid. Juan Miranda broke through tonight after having a pretty bad run. 2/3 with a walk, double and homer. AJax continues his hot ways. 1/3 with a BB and a double. His BA is up to .345 and his OBP has risen to .432. Rumor has it, the yankees shortened his swing in the offseason and that is the likely culprit for his lack of power. That being said, he is starting to hit for extra bases, with 3 doubles in his last 4 games.
  16. Girardi, wtf are you doing? Albaladejo doesnt have it tonight. Replace him.
  17. ARod is just a little off. His swing seems to be inconsistent thus far.
  18. Lowell continues his pedestrian May. I am surprised he has almost no plate discipline this yr. He's walked 6 times and has an Isopatience of .030. To put that into perspective, that is worse than Cano's thus far.
  19. XRays negative on Joba. Its a bruise. He's day to day
  20. Molina actually wills the ball away from the bat.
  21. Yeah, looks like Lester is getting Pettitte's strike zone tonight.
