  1. you cannot replay foul vs fair I dont think
  2. Montero and Romine are killing the ball today. Montero is 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, a sac fly and 3 ribbies. Romine is 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, a homer and 5 RBI.
  3. Veras in the pen? Ugh...
  4. Dont get me wrong. I loved maple. It was more compact, at least it felt that way. Solid hits go farther, but if you dont hit is solid, the bat explodes. I had a few hard liners into the gap that exploded the bat.
  5. they showed the replay. It hit the sweet spot. The maple just shattered. Thats maple for you.
  6. even when Papi hits the ball, its caught.
  7. walking ellsbury is a poor decision there
  8. CC at 99 pitches through 7. He'll probably go out there for the 8th. Hamels is likely done at 109 pitches. Time to tear into some pen.
  9. Papi continues to be useless
  10. He got a really bad jump on Tex's single and was meat at the plate. He should have bowled over the catcher rather than trying to slide in and pull the ball out of the catchers glove
  11. the only benefit would be less ABs.
  12. that doesnt fix the problem. The problem is, you have a DH who cannot hit. Ortiz has a .309 OBP and a .309SLG. His K rate is 26%. Meaning, he isnt reaching base, he isnt hitting for power and he isnt even making contact. Thats your designated hitter. The entirety of his job is to hit. He brings nothing else tangible to the field.
  13. its reactionary. Lugo made a big gaffe and now everyone hates him. I think the press is willing to fix on a common enemy without actually looking at the true problem on the team
  14. I knew they were hiring experts to confirm. I didnt hear that it was confirmed
  15. It turns out, Miguel Sano is considered the top prospect and the Yankees are said to be very interested in his proceedings. Right now, the reports have the Pirates in the lead, but the yankees have been working him out over these last few weekss, we'll see. As it turns out, the yankees are expected to sign catcher Gary Sanchez. He's a consensus top 5 free agent coming out of this group and also considered to be the best power hitter of the bunch. Wagner Mateo is another big ticket OFer who is also considered a top 5 prospect. He has been linked with the yankees since his name came on the radar and some scouting services think he'll end up signing with NY for $2.5-3 million Another outfielder by the last name of Pimental was linked with the yankees. But recently, NY placed a grievance with Texas on Pimental's behalf. It is now believed that the Rangers will be signing Pimental, although the grievance is still pending. Apparently, the Rangers held onto Pimental for more than 2 months in their facility which is a rules violation. The pitching market got weaker as a righty by the last name of De Paula was suspended. He was a guy the yankees and sox were battling for. Throws mid 90s with a good changeup, but it turns out he altered his birth certificate. MLB instituted a new rule requiring a 1 yr suspension on signing for players who alter their BC. Turns out, De Paula is 18. He'll still be a hot commodity next yr, though.
  16. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=arangure_jorge_jr The above article tabs the Red Sox as the likely destination for one of the top INTL SS's available this season. His name is Jose Vinicio. Here's the quote. Of note, this signing class is going to be a bit different than yrs past. The past 3 seasons have had a lot of guys in the above average range with a handful of top prospects in the bunch (Ynoa last yr, Montero, Almanzar, De Leon, etc). This yr, the depth isnt there in that above average category, but the upper echelon talent has improved significantly. SO last yr, the sox and yankees spread out their bonuses and did not end up going much further than the 1 million dollar mark on upwards of 7-9 players. This yr, we may see both teams handing out 3-4 7 figure bonuses, but only signing 4 or 5 guys. I will try to dig something up on this SS that the sox are to sign.
  17. thats the thing, though. The dimensions are actually pretty average around baseball. I dont know if it is just a small sample size or if there is some sort of wind current or something. I can tell you this, the yankee pen hasnt helped the homer concern.
  18. Bowden got lit up tonight vs SWB. 2IP 4ER
  19. Not jealous at all. I love Mo and will take him over anyone still. By the time he hangs em up, Paps might even be available by Free Agency.
  20. How? I am comparing two good measures of reliever performance. Yes, Mariano has given up 5 homers, which is not like him. But his WHIP is much lower than Paps and he has only blown 1 save.
