  1. 101 pitches, I think that was it for Hughes. He earned another start IMO. 2 great starts, 1 good start, 2 below average starts and 1 absolutely terrible start
  2. got him confused with another former Texas tall guy, Chris Young.
  3. 8 shutout innings for Hughes
  4. Wait, sorry. Its Chris Davis. Davis has 10 homers.
  5. Cruz was ridiculous in AAA but nobody gave him a shot. Now he just rakes.
  6. Chris Young has 10 homers. Michael Young has 7
  7. and Elvis Andrus who is likely to be the AL Rookie of the yr
  8. leaders in the AL in homers and 8th in MLB in runs scored. 4 guys with 10+ homers. One is Kinsler. The other 3 are Young, Cruz, and Blalock. They also have Young and Josh Hamilton
  9. Robby Cano is hitting too.
  10. Matt Harrison isnt a bad pitcher per se. He's a rookie who has good stuff. He just had nothing tonight. Hughes is dominating the Rangers. I assume you think the Rangers suck on offense too?
  11. He drove in a run in the first. And in the 3rd, we were up 2-0 and he drove in 2 with a double. So, while I do enjoy ripping on ARoid, he has been a significant driving force in our early and late scoring of runs.
  12. yeah, it makes no sense. He had an OBP of .380 at the start of June but his BA was .270 or something. Now, his BA is higher, but his OBP is lower. If Ellsbury was able to regain that and get back to a .380OBP (regardless of his BA), he'll be a perennial All Star, especially with his speed.
  13. ARod is 4/4 with 2 doubles and 4RBI. He looks really sharp right now.
  14. the strangest thing with Ellsbury, though, is how far he's regressed in terms of patience. Look at this. Last yr, he was the starting CFer. He walked 27 times in his first 2 months of 2008 in 194PA. (13.9% walk rate) Outside of those 2 months, he has walked 32 times in 720PA. (4.4% walk rate)
  15. Hughes at 60 pitches through 5 with 5Ks and only 3 hits. He's been solid.
  16. Phil has been pretty good today. He's gotten out of 2 jams and has located the fastball well.
  17. Ellsbury is useful if his OBP is over .350. He used to be patient. Now, he hacks a lot. Right now, he's right around the .350 mark so he's useful. But he is so streaky that he'll drop that number again. He needs to become more consistent and more patient.
  18. Liriano is a shell of himself. He has no location and his fastball went from 97 to 91.
  19. so the sox moved Papi so far down in the order that he isnt starting
  20. Plus, he's the sox problem through next season too. 12.5 mil just eating up a roster spot with negative productivity isnt fun. It's like a Pavano, but this guy actually plays.
  21. you cannot send him to the minors without his permission. That is what someone with his tenure and contract are allowed. You could DL him and just send him on a rehab assignment, but what is he rehabbing? At least with Wang, it was obvious that his velocity was down and it seems to have returned somewhat. With hitters its different. Its all about timing, bat speed and power. And right now, Ortiz just doesnt have them.
