  1. the only way I could see what you see is if I took a lot of shrooms and stared at a poster of pink butterflies. In all seriousness, it is very difficult to assess because, once again, there will be a lot of variability. Lets say CC goes down tonight for 4 weeks, and we get Igawa for the next 4 weeks. Well, then Posada is going to be worse by default because the quality of the pitcher has worsened. This is my point. I know that Posada isnt great behind the dish. I just think his O outweighs his D. Now, if Cervelli goes to AAA and comes back to the bigs next yr with double digit homer power, then maybe you'd have a point.
  2. Montero went 2 for 4 with a double today. He's 10 for his last 20 with 4 doubles and 2 homers. Wow.
  3. That all depends though, rician. If you look at your order, Ellsbury leading off with a .336OBP is not great. Whereas Pedroia is getting on base at a .400+ clip. If you obtained Johnson, moving Ellsbury to 9 would be a massive boon for your squad. Here's a lineup you can wrap your head around 1. Pedroia 2B 2. Johnson DH 3. Youkilis 1B 4. Bay LF 5. Drew RF 6. Lowell 3B 7. Varitek C 8. Lugo SS 9. Ellsbury CF that gives you 3 consecutive .400+ OBP guys on in front of Jason Bay, who is your best RBI guy at this point.
  4. Just in time for him to implode. He walked 10 batters in 3.1IP in his last start. What is amazing is that he only allowed 3ER since he only allowed 1 hit. Not sure why they even allowed him to get to 10 walks. Thats impressive. As a big guy, he is going to need a lot of work to keep his mechanics sound. They say his FB isnt all the way back yet either, yet he's sitting 94-96mph. If he gets his mechanics down this yr and finds another couple mph on the fb, then he should shoot through the system
  5. Posada due back in the lineup tonight. I expect Cervelli to be optioned to AAA. Hell of a job by the kid.
  6. Yankee scouts think he can. Actually a lot of scouts think his bat is already MLB caliber. Thing is, without a solid position, his ranking will remain in the 30-40 range. My gut says he ends up as a LFer with an eventual move to 1b. Actually, that is my hope. I think Austin Romine is a much better catcher and he is the eventual starting catcher prospect this team has been looking for. But Montero's bat is so good that the grind of catching could shorten his career, something I dont think we should be doing. And the craziest thing is, this kid is playing this entire season as a 19 yr old. The most interesting topic on him is how varied the projections are. The NY Post and the Daily News have said he could be in the bigs by the end of the yr. Well, that is unlikely IMO. PP says he could be in the bigs by 2010. That sounds about right if they call him up and skip AAA. But any callup prior to 2011 means he has been taken out of the catching position. He's pretty raw still.
  7. Montero is on fire again. 3 for 4, 2 homers and 4 ribbies. BA is up to .338, he now has 7 homers and his OPS is in the mid .900s. Might be time for a callup
  8. The split is notoriously tough on the elbow, not the shoulder. But also, his splitter was getting batted around last season. It became an inconsistent pitch. I remember him giving up a homer to us on it and then I havent seen him throwing it again.
  9. 2 strong innings for Wang. Good sink, velocity was better but still isnt there yet. I liked his current role.
  10. My point is that he's getting more pitches to hit whereas before, he was getting maybe one pitch an ab to swing at or he'd be walked
  11. I'll be here, but I am on call, so I may be sporadic
  12. I dont think it is, though. Tex was on pace for 125 walks prior to ARod's arrival. Now, he's seeing more pitches and he isnt missing. Prior to ARod returning: 19BB in 25G Since ARod came back: 8BB in 18G
  13. doesnt matter what game it was. All I care about is his sinker. And in his first inning, it was harder and broke deeper than it had before. If he comes back to his standard, we will be very tough to beat.
  14. Tex just needed someone who could protect him. Without ARod, he was the focus of the offense and he was pitched around a lot. Now, he is getting pitches and he is not missing them. .280 15 homers after starting .180 with 5 homers early this month. Imagine a lineup of Ellsbury, Pedroia, Teixeira, Youkilis, Bay, Drew?
  15. Soon to be a tie in the top spot in the ALE
  16. a loss tonight and the sox will have lost 4 of 6.
  17. CMW looked really good tonight
  18. 91-92 thus far with good sink. Okay so far.
  19. 1st sinker sank. Thats good
  20. never heard of him before he showed up in the Minny pen
  21. might be time to pull the plug on the Veras experiment
  22. this doesnt make much sense. Masterson, a guy who can lose the zone at times and a guy who has just changed roles will come in with the bases loaded against a good hitter.
