  1. Lester with 5IP 1ER and 10K. But that was pitch #97 through only 5 innings.
  2. Montero 2 for 3 with an RBI today
  3. I think they are doing this on purpose. Hughes could have gone another inning. But worst case, if we lose, Wang gets to go 3 innings. 93-94 with a ton of sink. He looked really good. He's pushing the envelope, which is good.
  4. MOTHER f***ER, f*** YOU UMPIRE f***ING DOUCHE!!! 4-2 yankees. SHOULD BE 4-3 YOU DUMB COCKSUCKING MOTHERf***ER
  5. that hurts a lot. Much rather have 1st and 2nd
  6. this run should be unearned. Inning should be over if Gardner played the double appropriately
  7. It truly is amazing how night and day the O is between home and away. The Sox are 4th in the majors in runs at home (yet 1st in at 6.3 runs per game). They have the best OPS at home at .900. But on the road, the sox are 13th in the game in runs scored, but lower in runs per game at 4.2 runs per game. Their road OPS is 15th in the MLB at .731.
  8. Hughes get a pop out. Now we need a grounder.
  9. Yep, liner right at Gardner, he comes in and it goes over his head. Should be runner on 1st and 1 out. Instead, its first and third 0 out and he is in another jam.
  10. Youk is now 2 for 2 with 2 homers off Romero
  11. Hughes doing exactly what I expect. Dominant through 2. Gives up a bleeder in the third that sparks a 3 run inning. Now back to business. He looks good, but he's inconsistent. He might actually be good enough to hang as the #5 this yr. We'll see.
  12. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/yankees-considering-mark-derosa.html Not sure how I feel about this. DeRosa is uber versatile, capable of playing 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF and he plays them well. He also puts up a nice .750 or so OPS, so he'd be a hell of a utility guy. But the Guardians are looking for young pitching. I certainly would not move Robertson or Melancon since both might be key parts of our bullpen as the season goes along. I might move a guy like Kontos for him. But at the same time, I think I'd hold onto him if a solid relief option came available like a Huston Street for example. If he came cheap, I would absolutely go for DeRosa.
  13. he's better than Ortiz right now. That might be the way to start. And he shouldnt cost much because you' be buying low.
  14. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2009/05/31/the_managerial_ranks/?page=4 Interesting choice to scout. He is a 27 yr old right handed hitting power hitter with minimal patience and a propensity to K a good amount. His best yr came in 2007 when he clubbed 24 homers, 66 extra base hits and had an OPS of .892. Last season, he slipped a bit as his average dropped as did his walk total, but he did have 71 extra base hits and 20 homers while driving in 91. His career OPS is .799 and his stroke combined with 81 games of the monster could be worth the shot. He's an OFer by trade capable of playing CF and could be the sox platoon OFer with Drew vs lefties and the sox DH depending on how Ortiz progresses.
  15. SARS was much worse IMO.
  16. I am sorry, I should have clarified that on the offensive side of the ball. The starting pitching should, theoretically improve. Problem being, I am not sure it will to enough of a degree to offset that offense. Lester continues to be killed by the one bad inning, which is strange, but it is consistent. Also, he is getting creamed this yr for some reason and his walk totals are up. His BB/9IP is up by 0.3 per 9, which isnt big. But his H/9IP are at 11.2, up from 8.6. If the rule of BABIP applies, then he should improve. That being said, his propensity to be dominant for 4 innings and fail in the 5th is interesting to say the least. DiceK is another enigma. His velocity is there, but he is on the other end of the spectrum. While Lester's H/9IP should drop, DiceK should give up more hits this yr. And he has, with disastrous results. DiceK was lucky as all hell to not be sporting a 4-5ERA last yr since his WHIP and BB totals were so high.
  17. They didnt push Bowden as much as say Buchholz. But I do think most teams would have had Bowden start in AAA this yr. He was an 05 draftee. For comparison purpose, Zach McCallister was a 2006 draftee and he is in AA for us. So I dont think that is too much of a change. But what the sox did with Buchholz was interesting in having him skip through A+ ball after only 3 starts.
  18. Interesting tidbit on Montero. He has about the same amount of extra base hits as he does K's. Think about that. He has 24 extra base hits and 25K's. That is ridiculous.
  19. Goodbye Jose Veras. I think this was his last chance.
  20. CC was dominant early, took a ball off his hand and gutted out a solid 7IP 3ER performance. The offense hit well once again and took advantage of some shoddy Cleveland D. Robertson is looking really good after his most recent callup.
  21. Jackson is 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 SBs today. His AVG is up to .353
