  1. I said nothing about why he wouldnt be. Listen, Dipre, if you dont have any of your own thoughts, continue to allow ORS to be your mouthpiece. I do think he'd like to be cited everytime you use his material, though. Seeing as he did all your thinking for today
  2. Ellsbury, Varitek, Kotsay and Green. Murderer's row. I think the sox may be going at this the wrong way. Ellsbury in front of those guys is a waste because they dont hit well. And batting him behind Bay is just ridiculous since Ells has no power. If I were Tito, I'd bat Ellsbury 9. If he reaches, then he could steal a base and have a chance to be driven in by players who can actually hit.
  3. you would think that someone without any sort of knowledge about something would shut his mouth, but you keep speaking. I'll be hanging onto this thread for later.
  4. does that mean you will root for him but against the yankees, or do you want to bang your friends sister and hate him more?
  5. now who's the troll
  6. He might, who knows. As with all GM's, though, Ricciardi wont accept something right off the bat. He'd probably try to pry away Buchholz instead of Bowden since Bowden has tailed off and might want a 4th in there because Lars isnt hitting as well as he should be at AA. That being said, dealing those three guys would set the sox farm system back a few yrs. Lars and Reddick are your two best and closest offensive prospects. And Bowden fits right in there with Buchholz and Tazawa as the future in the rotation that will se a lot of change over the next 3 seasons, even if Halladay is acquired.
  7. It doesnt matter what you think about Pena, he is worth a good amount. He isnt a stand alone for Halladay, not saying that in the least, but he is certainly a good #2 or #3 guy in the deal. Take a look at what the sox just shelled out for an all glove, no stick Cuban SS who hasnt played an inning in America ($8 million). Pena has the same glove and has proven he can at least hang in the bigs offensively.
  8. Lars, Bowden and Reddick would absolutely get it done.
  9. There is no possible way we deal that much for Halladay and no team will make an offer that beats the above deal if we did propose it. I dont know what you are smoking, but two of the best pitchers in baseball were dealt over the past 2 seasons. Santana went for a lot of promise without a lot of "right now" talent. Sabathia went for one potential impact bat. In this economy (where prospects are much better businesswise), a 32 yr old pitcher is not going to fetch as much as you are proposing. One potential all star and one good prospect will likely do the trick. Or one potential all star and a package of guys who could fill the need in the distant future
  10. you honestly believe that. You think they will get a future All Star SS and a future top of the rotation starter? You think they will get both? Really? Well then, if they get those players, wont the team trading for Halladay be creating some holes? Those types of players dont grow on trees you know
  11. Burnett's BB/9IP in Toronto was 3.2 per 9IP. His BB/9IP in NY is 4.4. I expect that to come down a bit as the season wears on.
  12. they can state anything they want. They wont get everything they want. They also wanted to join Wells with Halladay to make it a salary dump as well.
  13. This is a good move. Aceves goes down because we dont need our #5 starter until July 21. This allows him to get a start on full rest in the minors to get the pitch count up to at least 80 when he's ready to return. Melancon comes up for the second time after having a rough go the first time around. He continues to put up video game numbers in AAA and could have a chance to stick for good if he outpitches Brett Tomko, something I think he can do. His numbers on the yr... 39.2IP 25H 11ER 42K 9BB- 2.50ERA .179BAA 0.86WHIP 9.5K/9IP
  14. Yes, why would they regress. Sabathia is pitching to a WHIP I expect him to be right around. He's at 1.12 right now, I dont expect him to replicate last yrs WHIP, but I do expect him to stay in the 1-1.12 range Burnett has been rolling since the sox embarassed him. 5 starts, 33.2IP 23H 5ER 16BB 37K for an ERA of 1.33, a WHIP of 1.15 and a K/9 of 9.9. Pettitte is going to give you 5-6+ IP every night and keep you in the game. His WHIP is always high and his peripherals always suck. Thats the pitcher he's been for a decade, but he's as reliable as they come. With that top 3, you have one guy who is pitching better than anyone either team has in CC. You have Burnett, who was dominant the last half of last yr and has been on a roll for a month now. And you have Pettitte, who is a reliable pitcher who wont be pretty, but finds a way to win games. After those three, you have Chamberlain. Chamberlain is a first yr major league starter who has been inconsistent. But, these guys typically get better over time, something I think Joba will do eventually. He has mixed in some real clumkers with some dominant starts and has been able to keep the runners he lets on from scoring. He's been very valuable for us this yr in the 4 hole Then the 5 hole is anyone's guess. Its Aceves for now. Wang will eventually reclaim it, as he was improving before he went down. Regardless, this isnt a perfect rotation. But we have 2 guys at the top who are rolling, a guy in the 3 spot who is very reliable, Joba who is lights out or bad and then a 5 hole that is up in the air. Not sure where I see the significant decline unless there is another injury
  15. I agree, a great glove at SS is great to have. But I have a feeling it has more to do with the fact that the kid could solve a long term problem in the short term if he truly is close to MLB ready. Cause I dont think the sox truly believe that Lowrie is a long term fit at SS.
  16. Yankees current starters' WHIP (Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Chamberlain, Aceves)- 375.1IP 344H 138BB- comes out to 1.28WHIP Red Sox current starters' WHIP (Beckett, Lester, Wakefield, Penny, Smoltz)- 435.1IP 452H 137BB- comes out to 1.35WHIP Dont mean to call you stupid, but, well, you're dumb
  17. The Guardians wanted an impact player down the road, which Laporta fit. I would assume Ricciardi wants MLB ready talent that has already shown some success in the bigs. LA would be perfect. They could start a deal with Kemp or with Kershaw while adding in some of their MiLB depth.
  18. that phrase makes a ton of sense. Regardless, the trolling in this thread is getting high, so I might as well run before Dutchy enters uber-troll mode
  19. Well, yeah, Tomko and Alby are there. But Hughes, Coke and Bruney are shouldering the majority of the high leverage innings instead of Ramirez, Veras and Albaladejo.
  20. Burnett had no active issue. He doesnt seem to be able to pitch in any sort of pain, but right now, he has no active issue. The other guys you mentioned have active issues
  21. I wouldnt say the pen is overperforming. More, we got rid of the crap and help onto the guys who can actually pitch at the major league level.
  22. I am a resident. As part of our training we do lifeflight, although we had a drive today. So I am a doctor. Not a board certified doctor yet (that requires residency training). But I do have the degree.
