  1. the investigation will take awhile, so he might not be signing for another few months. If they do find that he is older than he says, then he will get suspended for one yr
  2. Renfroe and Heathcott are your two HS two way players with Heathcott getting a bit of an edge due to the fact that he throws harder, is left handed and is a bit more developed offensively. That being said, Renfroe in terms of sheer talent was rated as a late 1st rounder, supplemental type player, but he's asking for top 10 pick money. He has a ton of leverage since he could just go to school and forgo third round money
  3. the investigation into his age hasnt been finished, so he cannot sign yet
  4. werent they enemas instead of injections?
  5. CC is settling down. We have two hits vs Vargas. Status quo vs lefty shitballers
  6. The signing was confirmed at $3mil. Gary Sanchez, the consensus top 3 player in the INTL market and the best catcher has been inked. He has plus power, a plus arm and plus mechanics. Should be a very solid catcher for us. We also signed Christopher Cabrera, a tall, lean right handed pitcher who tops out at 94mph as a 16 yr old. He is expected to add some more heat as he fills out. And we rounded out the class with Damian Arredondo, a speedy SS who signed for 850K. He has a solid glove and a 6.4 60 time as a 16 yr old. His bat will have to come along. The yankees continue to be considered players for Sano, although it seems like more of a longshot right now. We are also in on an OFer by the last name of Fuentes, who has been hitting the piss out of the ball in yankee camp.
  7. Vinicio is the only one that I have seen confirmed. He signed for $2mil. He is considered the second best SS on the market, but the best SS who will likely stay at the position (Sano is expected to move to 3b at some point).
  8. BTW, he hit another one tonight
  9. Reports will be filtering along today. The sox got Vinicio, they have also been linked to Daniel Sanchez, a player who is rising to the top in terms of being the best RHP in the INTL period.
  10. Like I said, you cannot rebut idiocy. I did not say he was the next Miguel Cabrera. In prospect circles, a Miguel Cabrera type bat does not mean that the player will hit like Miguel Cabrera. It means, that at a very young age, he has significantly advanced power, patience and contact. A ton of things could go wrong between now and when he debuts. But right now, he has a Cabrera type bat because he's 19 in a league filled with 23 yr olds and he is destroying pitching while maintaining a good K rate, a high average, a high SLG, and a high OBP
  11. There isnt much rebuttal for pure ignorance. Enjoy your night.
  12. So, this may not seem like much to most, but this guy is going to spark a ridiculous bidding war. He's 21 yrs old, 6'4" and is a left handed pitcher. He broke the Cuban record for hardest fastball when he hit 102mph. Here is a clip from the WBC He mostly sat around 95 with the highest at around 98. This kid is definitely going to be the center of a bidding war and I bet NY and Boston will be in on it
  13. I said he has a Cabrera type bat. I did not say he would be Cabrera. What I mean is, for a very young kid, he has incredible power, size, contact skills and patience at the plate. Now, you tried to make comparisons, so how bout we make some? Age 18 Miguel Cabrera LoA .268/.328/.382 Age 18 Jesus Montero LoA .326/.376/.491 Age 19 Miguel Cabrera HiA .274/.333/.421 Age 19 Jesus Montero HiA .356/.406/.583 AA .319/.395/.542 Through his age 19 season, Cabrera had hit 19 homers in the entirety of his MiLB career. With half a season left, Montero has hit 32. So, Montero is significantly ahead of the pace Cabrera set. To be fair, Cabrera's age 20 season was ridiculous in AA which prompted his callup. So, no, I am not overrating our prospects on this one. Montero is a legit offensive talent who is tearing through the minor leagues as the youngest player in his league. They also share another common thread as both are Venezuelan. So, to reiterate for those who seem to be a bit thicker than others. Montero has a very advanced bat for such a young age. One that is not seen on a regular basis and his bat has the potential to make him a very rare and talented player. The only thing keeping him back is his defense.
  14. Montero is the yankees best bat in the minors, period. Jackson has the best total package because he profiles as a CFer and a pretty damn good one. But Montero has a Cabrera type impact bat.
  15. I am not telling you what I am hoping. I am telling you what will happen. He'll need to be on the 40 man after next season, so putting him on it for a Sept callup in 2010 is not unrealistic. Also, if he continues to hit like this, he could theoretically be a nice bat to have through a playoff run a la Miguel Cabrera in 2003 for the marlins.
  16. Game over. 7 in a row.
  17. Not sure where you are getting that ETA from. He might be a callup midseason next yr depending on how they rectify their OF and DH situation. At the latest, he's a september callup in 2010.
  18. He just hit another homer
  19. I wouldnt be shocked if he stayed in AA. Like I said, I still think the yankees are trying to develop him into a decent catcher.
  20. Yes, he and Manny Banuelos made the world team. In terms of Montero, nobody has ever doubted his bat. It has always been the glove that they questioned. He's 19 and he is already 6'4" 225lbs, so he is gonna fill out something fierce. That makes catching a bit of an issue. Plus, he is very slow right now, and the prevailing thought is that he will slow down as he gets into his 20s because he will fill out. So, that makes him a poor option for corner OF. He has shoddy mechanics behind the plate, but they are improving a lot. His arm has come along nice, but the release is still slow. That being said, he doesnt have the speed or quickness to man 3b, ss or 2b. So its either 1b, C, or DH and with Tex signed on for another 7 yrs, C or DH seems most likely. If they truly cared only about his bat, then he would have made it to AA last yr and we would be talking about him getting called up right about now. He's been slowed by his D. But, he dominated high A offensively to a point that keeping him there didnt do him any good offensively. So they moved him to AA, a test he is starting to show he is more than equipped for.
  21. Montero hit two homers and also walked yesterday. He started slowly at AA, but has started to pour it on. After no extra base hits for his first 11 games, he now has 3 homers and 3 doubles in his last 9 games. His line is up to .304/.377/.478, which isnt too bad for a 19 yr old in AA. If he continues to swing like he has over the past 9 games, he wont be in AA for long.
  22. 5-5 bottom 9. Lets see if Paps can blow two in a row
  23. C- Mauer 1B- Teixeira 2B- Kinsler 3B- Longoria SS- Jeter OF- Ichiro OF- Bay OF- Hunter
  24. you are enamored with small sample sizes, do you know this?
