Yes, why would they regress.
Sabathia is pitching to a WHIP I expect him to be right around. He's at 1.12 right now, I dont expect him to replicate last yrs WHIP, but I do expect him to stay in the 1-1.12 range
Burnett has been rolling since the sox embarassed him. 5 starts, 33.2IP 23H 5ER 16BB 37K for an ERA of 1.33, a WHIP of 1.15 and a K/9 of 9.9.
Pettitte is going to give you 5-6+ IP every night and keep you in the game. His WHIP is always high and his peripherals always suck. Thats the pitcher he's been for a decade, but he's as reliable as they come.
With that top 3, you have one guy who is pitching better than anyone either team has in CC. You have Burnett, who was dominant the last half of last yr and has been on a roll for a month now. And you have Pettitte, who is a reliable pitcher who wont be pretty, but finds a way to win games.
After those three, you have Chamberlain. Chamberlain is a first yr major league starter who has been inconsistent. But, these guys typically get better over time, something I think Joba will do eventually. He has mixed in some real clumkers with some dominant starts and has been able to keep the runners he lets on from scoring. He's been very valuable for us this yr in the 4 hole
Then the 5 hole is anyone's guess. Its Aceves for now. Wang will eventually reclaim it, as he was improving before he went down.
Regardless, this isnt a perfect rotation. But we have 2 guys at the top who are rolling, a guy in the 3 spot who is very reliable, Joba who is lights out or bad and then a 5 hole that is up in the air. Not sure where I see the significant decline unless there is another injury
