  1. I like Reddick. But Markakis is a beast already and will only get better as he ages. Reddick has the tools to be really good, but Markakis has already shown them in the ALE.
  2. we are talking about a generational talent at 23 yrs old who is just starting to locate franchise stuff. This is a guy who you need two can't miss prospects for. And I am sorry, but the sox dont have 2 can't miss guys right now who arent locked up. The Yankees dont either unless they deal from their current MLB team. If Seattle dealt Felix right now, the return would be dumbfounding.
  3. you'd rather have Reddick. Um, yeah, lay off the crackpipe my friend
  4. Dont let idiot Gom fool you. Having a catcher who can hit well above average is a really solid advantage.
  5. Wake had to have another cortisone injection and is suffering from sciatica. Essentially, he has inflammation around the sciatic nerve coming out of the sciatic notch. The inflammation is severe enough to where he has lost strength in his calf. This is something that could keep him out for some time and eventually may require a procedure.
  6. I will tell you this, without a significant improvement in one of the sox starting pitchers, the kilometric could have the sox out of the playoffs
  7. For King Felix, it would be well more than Lars and Kelly. You might not have the pieces with Masterson and Hagadone gone. I am thinking Buchholz, Bowden, Kelly, and Anderson to start. It would be such a ridiculous package that I dont think it can be done.
  8. Sucks to lose a month of development, but this was a really successful yr. His overall line between High A and AA as a 19 yr old was... 92G 347AB 117H 25 doubles 1 triple 17HR 70RBI 195TB .337BA .389OBP .562SLG .951OPS And his AA line has his OPS at .909. So his bat has proven to be very real. The lost month does bother me on the defensive side, cause he'll need that more than anything else. He might be enrolled in the AFL this yr. If that is the case, he would get back the month he lost.
  9. I am concerned about Aceves. He has been quoted as saying his shoulder is tired, and I cannot blame him since he seems to pitch every day for multiple innings. That being said, his first inning where he got out unscathed saw some of the hardest and longest hit outs I have ever seen. Then he went on to get tattooed in his second inning of work. We need to get him right, even if it means a trip to the DL or an extended rest. It is good to see Robertson in some important innings, and even though he took the loss, he looked pretty darn good. Melancon has also looked better of late. We need to find a balance with Aceves. When he feels fine, we cannot just run him out there at a ridiculous workload. Regardless, the pen isnt my issue. You cannot expect to win when your starter gives up 5 runs over 3 innings. That needs to be rectified. If he doesnt show improvement in his next start, I'd be okay with optioning him and bringing up Igawa. Hell, at least Igawa gave a few more innings with his suck.
  10. VMart's arrival basically guarantees VTek is gone after the yr. Just like the yankees, though, they did not fill their biggest need in the rotation
  11. Cashman mustnt have liked the starters on the market, or he thinks a good amount will get through waivers and would wait until a dire need arose. I have to say I am a bit disappointed that we didnt get in on the Washburn sweeps, but the rumors circulating that the M's wanted Hughes or Chamberlain should be enough to quell that need. That being said, I would have liked some pitching depth aside from Hirsch (who doesnt exactly qualify as pitching depth).
  12. ah Jacoby. How does the crow taste. To be honest with you, Jacoby and a700 were the biggest flamers per se after the yankee guys got nabbed for PED use. Crespo, SOTK, and a few others made some joking comments but nothing too bad. Regardless, let this be a pointed reminder that roids were and still are prevalent in the game. No team is safe. Nobody is clean. And nobody should care IMO.
  13. This is the caveat that I am making right now. Listen, a ton of sox fans reacted like I am about Manny and Ortiz. I dont care. I truly dont care. But those who made stupid comments about our championships being tainted and about how ARod is a disgrace to the game will get burned.
  14. all of these posts are directed at the people who made the post. I am quoting each post and then providing my take on it. This should be considered solely a burn to those who made the comment
  15. Actually, it isnt ridiculous. I am burning those who tried to take the righteous road when our guys went down for PED usage. I am not about to throw everyone here under the bus because a good amount of posters just considered it a sign of the times. That is what it is. The fact that BOTH big time sluggers were on the juice right BEFORE the world series titles makes it even sweeter.
  16. the good thing is, they still have the red sox lockerroom if they want to revisit steroid usage. Yankee stadium may be gone, but I bet you could find a few needles hidden in Papi's locker stashed away for a rainy day.
  17. wait, what was that? We should embroider syringes on yankee championship banners? I bet you wish to take this comment back
  18. Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz. There, I've named them. The duo that led the sox to two championships, the duo that powered a revolution, were both dirty as hell. I am not gonna go on a righteous binge here since I dont care about roids in sports anymore, but those who called the yankee titles tainted with Roger's and Andy's situations are eating crow right now.
  19. Dont care if it was, although that would shorten his career. Here are his numbers since the ASB 21.2IP 8H 2ER 8BB 19K for a 0.73WHIP and a 0.83ERA
  20. And the rationale for the acquisition of a starter is pretty obvious. DiceK is on the shelf for who knows how long. Penny has started to really suck this month with an ERA close to 6. Smoltz has an ERA north of 7. And while Buchholz has a respectable ERA after 3 starts, his WHIP is 1.70 and his IP per start sits at a lowly 5. If Wakefield doesnt come back vintage, the sox will truly have a Beckett-Lester pray for rain scenario in the works. And, with the slide of the offense, they will need to get good pitching performances more than half the time in order to play above .500 ball. Penny got bailed out of a few of his beauties earlier in the yr, but that is going to happen with less frequency as long as the offense stays as is.
