  1. this is the lolwut. They are skipping his start and keeping his start on 9/19 up in the air. Yet he is making progress and not being set back? You dont be "careful" with a 40 yr old pitcher in theoretically, the last yr of his deal. You ride the horse until he bucks. This sounds like the sox are downplaying his injury.
  2. he was signed on a two yr deal for a reason. He has some really nice stuff and gets a good amount of swings and misses. I wouldnt write him off yet, especially since both Joba and Hughes are gonna be in the rotation and at least one of them will be on an IP limit.
  3. O'Neill's wont be retired IMO, but it should be. He was the unquestioned leader of our team for the first few yrs and then co-captained with Jeter for the last 2 championships. And, he was a pretty f***ing good player too
  4. Hanley isnt going anywhere. They will move Uggla before they move Hanley
  5. VMart is not a good catcher. He also doesnt know the pitchers right now. That is a pretty rough combo necessitating Varitek's presence. After a full spring training and an offseason where he'll be studying his pitchers, I would assume that VMart would go from the defensive supersuck he has shown this run through with Boston, to his standard suck. And, as we have seen in NY, you can win a lot of games with an offense first, bad defensive catcher.
  6. Wait, so nothing is wrong with Wakefield's back. Nothing at all. They just felt he needed to skip a start in the final month of a playoff race that they are currently 2 games up on in the L column. And knowing that the guy they put in his spot will likely lay an egg. Can they ******** any more through the media?
  7. Listened to it on the road until the last 3 innings. CC sounded like he battled in a few innings, but was pretty solid. Watched Hughes, he looked good, as did Mo. Glad to see the O get off the schneid vs the pen, cause they werent hitting Garza.
  8. Of course he wouldnt. He hates Cashman, which is fine. But if you hate someone and want to appear objective, you need to give credit at some point. I hate the red sox, but I give them credit for being the better team in 04, 07, and 08. Otherwise you just sound like an idiot.
  9. This is actually a good game for the sox even if they lose. Beckett had one inning of wildness, but otherwise looked dominant
  10. When both are throwing at their best, Joba's slider is the best pitch that either of them throw. And while Buch's change and curve are very, very good, people seem to understate how good Joba's curve is as well. Regardless, all of this is moot if Joba continues to miss in and out of the zone.
  11. You have tons of middle relief. I think you are referring to long relief.
  12. The ebb and flow of young pitchers. Buchholz has been really good over his past few starts. He also sucked balls for a few starts prior to that. Prior to Joba's most recent run of s***, he was dominant too. I just think, stuff wise, Joba is better. That is why I would choose him.
  13. I think this has more to do with our strength and conditioning coaches than Cashman. But feel free to blame him for absolutely everything that pisses you off in life
  14. What a crazy weekend. That being said, Mitre in all honesty, should not be a SP right now. He's still in the rehab phase of TJS. As of right now, he's hit or miss and seems to have some use in a long relief role. But as a starter, right now, he isnt ready IMO. He should be a candidate for the back of the rotation for next yr and I think he'd have a bit more endurance with a full offseason and another 6 months or so under his belt post surgery
  15. Our 8th and 9th IMO is a better tandem and the #s bear that out in spades. Throw Bard in that 7 hole and your 7th inning is better. But our 8-9 still is better.
  16. Seattle isnt moving Felix unless they get the entire red sox farm system. It isnt happening. Washburn, Beltre and Bedard come off the books this offseason. I expect the M's to throw big money at the King and keep him around for another 4-5 yrs or so. I also expect them to be players in the Lackey market.
  17. Also, I would still take the Hughes-Mo combo over the Oki-Pap combo. That being said, I think the sox depth allows them to be better prepared if they need to relieve their starter prior to the 8th inning.
  18. that includes an ERA from September that was in the 7 range. The pen then and the pen now are in different worlds.
  19. cause sarcasm projects so well in type. Seriously, not sure what is up your ass these days Dipre
  20. Talk about an unpredictable game. Two rookies pitching who have lights out stuff. This could be a 1-0 game or it could be a 15-14 game depending on how inconsistent they decide to be. Should be fun to watch
  21. DiceK has NO trade value right now. None. He's been injured with shoulder woes all yr long and he seems to have an attitude problem. He costs 8 mil and he has a no trade. If he doesnt come back in Sept strong and then barnstorm in the playoffs, the sox would be dealing him as a salary dump rather than as an active piece. Its like me saying we are gonna get something for Wang this offseason.
  22. Man, those who are calling for bans really have no clue about running an active board. I am glad none of you are mods. As much as Gom and I dislike each other, you cannot ban someone as active and as thread provoking as him. If you ban too much of your personality, the site dies. Trust me on this one, especially since I have come from a few dying boards on the yankee side where any objection is met with a ban. That being said, this progression into being a solid pitcher could be cut down to one line. Pitch in the NL. Thats it.
  23. 7.5 up on 9/3 is a pretty impressive lead considering we were down by 5 games at one point in the season and the team we are leading has the 3rd best record in the AL by 3.5 games. Hopefully some of this translates into October, but this team is just cruising and crushing all comers.
