  1. depends on the site. The YES forums didnt allow sox fans. I am banned there anyway for telling the mod that his site sucked and he was a moron. NYYFans have their standard trolls that run through but do have a couple sox fans that frequent the site. But at NYYFans, any sort of quelling of the ballwashing gets met with a ban. I said something about Kevin Brown smoking pole and then made a comment about Pavano being a ******** and I got the boot. There are two sites I frequent that bear yankee allegiance. One is a pretty dead site that got out of hand when a flame war started and the mods banned some good posters. The place became a wasteland. And the other one is also kinda dying, but has 3 sox fans who are regulars. So yes, there are lurkers from both sides on these sites.
  2. Gom, I brought you a plate of something deeeelicious. http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/images/blogimages/2009/04/24/1240605367-eating_crow.jpg So, the only "lost" yr of Santana production was 2008, a season in which we were decimated by injury and likely to not have won a WS even with Santana. For 2009 and 2010, though, we'd be f***ed. 2009, we wouldnt have Hughes setting up and we wouldnt have Sabathia since Santana would be the lefty ace we've missed. And for 2010, we'd be without our ace and our projected #5 starter. Enjoy the crow.
  3. aside from the fact that he's one of the better LFers in the game right now. So, I'll take it. He has more than earned his money
  4. The travel teams are the way to go now. Little league just isnt cutting it. That being said, you can play on both.
  5. I he keeps throwing like he's throwing, someone will offer him the closer's job and an incentive laden deal capable of making him 8-10 mil. He was sitting 95-98 in his last appearance and the slider looked f***ing sick
  6. Absolutely. He was a great closer. He had some struggles in Met land, but overall, was a very good player. If he is still throwing 97mph from the left, someone will sign him to close and pay him top dollar to do it.
  7. Thank you. The first poster who actually gave a good response to the issue started in the thread. It was such a detailed response that I dont think there is anything that needs to be added. I agree 100%
  8. Because Kilo was gonna update it again anyway. Also, you have no f***ing clue what a troll is. You really dont. I am surprised we didnt see more of them here. A troll is someone who is a quick hitter with some gloating post and then dont stick around to get lambasted. Last I checked, I have been here way longer than you. So, who's the troll now?
  9. A. I was the first to discuss it and immediately it was ignored and my status was questioned. B. CC has more wins on the best statistical team in the majors, which the voters seem to love, the same WHIP, more IP and a lower ERA. Where is the troll speak?
  10. Just plain stupid as usual. Tensions are high and some "fans" dont have the balls to be good posters. I'll leave it at that, before I actually earn a ban.
  11. Not sure if you know what that word means. Read the post
  12. He was. Absolutely, he was nearing Pedro territory dominant. Which is why there is cause for concern IMO. Burnett has been hot and cold all yr. He's had really nice runs of QS's (11 of 12 coming into the sox game) and then had a clunker mixed in with a struggling start, mixed in with a dominant start. Beckett went from being completely hittable to being Cy Young material and now back to completely hittable again. This was the basis of my post. Not that he sucked now. But that he went from such a high level of competition to such a low level immediately and as the burden and workload just starts to peak.
  13. Wagner has concessions before he drops his NT clause and the Mets want a prospect for him. Wagner wants his option cancelled and a guarantee that they wont offer arbitration at the end of the yr. Theo is balking at that. I have a feeling, this doesnt go through
  14. Again, the deflection. I find it funny how you dont address the topic, then attack the poster. I should expect it, though, especially from this group.
  15. Only the thread of the yr if you were a moron. Cmon now, everyone loves to deflect. Burnett had a clunker August 1st. Then he had 3 straight strong starts (21.2IP 17H 6ER 10BB 18K), then had a clunker this weekend. The funny thing is, Burnett hasnt put two clunkers together all season. Beckett did it at the end of April and again right in the thick of the pennant race
  16. they dont have a choice but to let it play out on the field. It isnt like they have the luxury of a big lead. They are fighting for their playoff lives. Any decrease in the frequency that Beckett takes the mound is a decrease in the chances that the sox have of making the playoffs.
  17. I find it funny that Beckett's start last night is just being swept under the rug. No discussion at all, almost like people are afraid to discuss it. But looking at the trend over the last 3 games, there is definitely cause for concern. His start vs Detroit looked good on paper, but it started a strange trend for a pitcher who has been known to give up gopherballs when not physically or mentally right (see 2006). Over his last 3 starts, Beckett has allowed 10 homeruns which is the exact same amount of homers he had allowed coming into this 3 game stretch. Now I didnt get to watch the game last night, I did get to listen to it. And the announcers were talking about a dip in velocity and it was reported again at ESPN.com that Beckett was seeing a velocity dip. Is this just a blip on the radar, or is Josh Beckett facing an injury or some tired arm? Neither of those situations would be good for the sox who truly rely on Josh to win every time out or else. I did find it kinda stupid that Francona sent him out there for the 8th when the yankees already had a 3 run lead and Beckett was over 100 pitches. Josh may not be handling the workload at this point. And, on the same night, we saw CC slide ahead of the sox ace in the Cy Young discussion
  18. time for an update again Kilo. Seems you might have been a bit too optimistic
  19. If Mo is out of NY, then yeah I could see Paps here. That being said, Mo is doing a pretty good job of evading father time. I wouldnt push him out just yet
  20. Man, I wish I was sleeping rather than posting, but call has been active tonight. Got to listen to the game cause the hospital doesnt get ESPN. CC sounded like he didnt have much and the sox batters gave him a pretty good workload. It didnt help that the Cano of 3 yrs ago showed up either. But the bats smacked Beckett around pretty good and the pitching was good enough to withstand a good offense and bad defense. Its also nice to see Matsui producing again. When he is hot, he can carry a team. And, to come out of a 10 game roadie that took us to the left coast and ended in Beantown with 7 wins, thats great. This series essentially confirmed what was already known a couple weeks back. The sox are not gonna be fighting for the division. They'll be scratching for that wild card with a team that I think is better than them (TB) and a team I think is significantly inferior to them (Texas).
  21. haha, love the avatar. But it should be him throwing a gopherball at least tonight
  22. Its an official game now. It is pouring in central Mass, it should reach Boston real soon
  23. cmon now, I'm on call right now and that looks wicked good
