  1. Beckett looks awful tonight.
  2. CC and Beckett cancel each other out. Lester is a decided advantage over Burnett and Pettitte is a decided advantage over Wakefield. Buchholz vs Joba is in the yankees favor IMO.
  3. CC's velocity is back up. His last inning was nice. So be it with Molina. Gotta keep Posada fresh for the playoffs
  4. The Yankees are the better team. Better offense, better rotation, better 1-2 punch at the back of the pen. The only thing decidedly in the favor of the sox is their middle relief. That being said, you can never predict a series between these two teams
  5. I would love a Sox-Yanks matchup in the WS. That would be awesome. Especially since I think we would have the SP advantage for once.
  6. 6.5 games up in September and 10 games up for a playoff spot. While I do agree that he should still be going for the jugular now and rest guys in 2-3 weeks, he hasnt really done much for me to criticize. Especially since we keep winning.
  7. These splits happen from time to time. Sometimes its psychological, sometimes its just a player's hot and cold nature during one season. It will even out. That being said, this guy has been an absolute find and his progress from what he was last yr is enormous. I hope he can build off this yr and be even better for 2010. But I would take another yr like this.
  8. Dude, chill. Burnett is a wild guy with incredible stuff. When he locates, he's untouchable. Today, everything is migrating over the plate. It happens.
  9. that was hilarious. That was 8 inches inside
  10. stuff looks good. Location is awful. Instead of being wild outside the zone, which had been his problem, he is becoming wild in the zone
  11. A good 2009. Well, that depends. Knowing what we all know now or based upon the entirety of the season and including pre-season expectations. Cause this sox team was considered a WS contender coming into the season. I would assume anything less than a first round playoff win is a disappointment
  12. Theo is all about value. Putting him at the 4th OF slot is a waste, especially when you consider Reddick is in the picture too. Regardless, I bet the sox try to fill RF internally after Drew leaves and they try to fill LF with a prime acquisition or a resign like Bay. Maybe, just maybe, they use RF for a positional battle and then deal off whomever loses.
  13. Its gonna be tight either way. Beckett fading late might be his deathknell in the race especially if CC keeps pitching like he is for the best team thus far in baseball. Greinke has been baseball's best pitcher and the Cy Young does reward the best pitcher and shouldnt factor in team success. That being said, there are always those who give pennant race pitchers the nod, especially ones as vital to their teams as Verlander. Right now, as much as I love CC, Verlander has been just as good in terms of innings and close in WHIP, but his K/9IP and the fact that he is the only reason why Detroit is in 1st is why he'd get my vote.
  14. pinch runner for the postseason most likely
  15. I think the sox are content to enter 2010 with 3 rotation slots set (Beckett, Buchholz, Lester) and might look outside the organization for a 4th, while leaving the 5th slot open for DiceK and the kids. I bet the sox would love to have Wakefield back, but I have a feeling he is gonna hang it up this offseason. His back has acted up before, but once it starts acting up to the point where you lose strength in your lower extremities, it is usually enough of a scare to make even the most diehard baseball player want to give it up.
  16. Wang is the one who is post shoulder surgery, so you cannot take him. Nobody revealed what they found and nobody came out with a ridiculously optimistic statement, so I would assume they found some significant damage. That being said, I am not sure DiceK's shoulder is without some mileage as well. How bout neither?
  17. He is a 20/20 guy. Dont know how he fits into the sox plans though. For a large market club, he might not have the power to be a corner OFer and with Ellsbury in CF, he might not get the shot to break in at center. I think he's developed into a solid trade chip, and I would assume he is used as such unless there is some catastrophe in the OF or if Ellsbury is used in a blockbuster
  18. I predicted this goddamn thing 2 yrs ago. His elbow has been a ticking time bomb since 2007 and now the yankee trainers and doctors finally did something about it. He has missed the majority of 2008 and 2009 while also missing a large chunk of 2007 with elbow woes. And he FINALLY went under the knife this week for Tommy John Surgery. He will miss all of 2010.
  19. he's got all 3 pitches working
  20. No Encarnacion, No Scutaro, No Barajas? Cito giving the game away
  21. Dumbass as usual. How the hell could you equate those two starts. Its not even close. There have been plenty others that you could equate with Beckett's last start. But not Burnett's last one.
  22. The plethora of pitching is palpable. Is DiceK even ready to return yet, or does this mean Bowden gets a shot
  23. How was it different? I dunno. Could be the fact that Beckett pitched one less inning, gave up 3 more hits, one more homer, 2 more walks, 2 more runs and 3 less strikeouts. But other than that, they were the exact same.
  24. Figures. Mitre is throwing the game of his life and he gets knocked out of the game by a comebacker
