  1. TOUCHDOWN BEARS!!!
  2. Snow is coming down heavier.
  3. Overturned!
  4. Yeah, that'll be overturned.
  5. At a White Sox message board I post to, we just crashed the server we were so excited!
  6. Bonds Canseco Tie Domi Don Majowski (pre-Favre Packers QB; I will go to my grave believing he threw a forward pass over the line of scrimmage) Terrell Owens Rickey Henderson (total asswipe)
  7. Someone should ask Madden how Brett Favre's butt tastes because he sure is kissing it.
  8. Glad to hear he's retiring. He killed my White Sox.
  9. I think Cliff Floyd wants to play in semi-retirement in his home town.
  10. I just emailed WS GM Kenny Williams and told him to lay off the egg nog. If I'm gonna deal with the Rangers, there are only three last names I'd have on my list: Young, Blalock and Texieria.
  11. It's a risk/reward issue with Hermanson. IMO, the risk (his back) outweighs the reward.
  12. The Garland-for-Taveras deal is dead. As for the Garcia deal, I liked it. Garcia was very hittable this year except for the last few weeks and it opened up a spot in the rotation for Brandon McCarthy. Also, they got Gavin Floyd and a prospect (Gio Fernandez, who they traded to the Phillies last year in the Thome-for-Rowand trade). Branch Rickey once said "I'd rather trade a player one year too early than one year too late." I think the Garcia trade was of that type.
  13. Personally, I think you can stick a fork in Dustin Hermanson. He's done. His back was so bad he couldn't even bend over to pick up his daughter.
  14. If Dave Duncan couldn't fix Marquis, Larry Rothschild doesn't have a chance. I guarantee by the All-Star break, we Chicagoans will be hearing the Flubs playing their shell game trying to hide an injury to Marquis.
  15. NFL: Bears MLB: White Sox NBA: Bulls I guess NHL: Don't care NCAA: Iowa and any team that beats Duke in basketball and Notre Dame or Ohio State in football Premiership: look at my avatar and guess
  16. I just hope that the next commissioner isn't former Cubs chief Andy MacPhail (who is now working in the MLB office). One of the hosts on WSCR here in Chicago, Mike Murphy, calls him Andy The Clown (after a former longtime White Sox mascot) and plays a really funny clown sound. As a White Sox fan, I should be offended, but the sound is too damn funny. The real Andy The Clown: http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/7/7b/200px-AndyTheClown.jpg The Andy The Clown that used to run the Cubs: http://www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/archrndwn/2004/apr/macphail140.jpg I guess there is a resemblance.
  17. HERE'S TO THE 2006 NFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPION CHICAGO BEARS!!! Now I'm hoping they don't wet themselves in the playoffs like they did last year.
  18. I don't look at numbers. I saw him play here in Chicago his first few years.
  19. I have to applaud Joe Cowley (the White Sox beat writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, no relation to the former major league pitcher) for not voting for Derek Jeter because he's Derek Jeter and therefore he must be MVP.
  20. ¡"El Caballo" es hurto! Translation: Carlos Lee is stealin'!
  21. I'll tell you why not Carlos Lee. He only plays well offensively when he has a chance for an RBI (or when he's playing against the Cubs-he hit two walkoff grand slams against them when he was playing for my Sox), he's a cancer in the clubhouse, to call him a liability in the field would be an insult to liabilities, and he's gonna eat his way out of the league in two years if he doesn't stop saying "yes" when the kid at McDonalds asks him if he wants fries with his order.
  22. I do not believe that my Sox are going to acquire Soriano. The only place he can generate power from is the leadoff spot, and they'd have to move Podsednik, a defensive liability, to centerfield (which is where you put your best glove man in the outfield). He has played CF before in Milwaukee, but he didn't do it very well. Personally, I'd like to see them move Vazquez for a couple of bullpen arms and move McCarthy into the rotation.
  23. So, they fired one of Dusty Baker's apologists, huh? Now if they'd just fire the other ones (Jon Miller and Joe Morgan)...
  24. If you ask me, that was a lateral move. Perez had one good year with the Dodgers a couple of years ago and Dessens never lived up to expectations.
  25. Gordon wants to be a closer. That's what scared my Sox away from him. They tried him in that role when they had him. He stunk up the joint so badly they had to go to Shingo Takatsu, whose best pitch was a changeup.
