  1. I remember when he was pitching for the Cubs. Does he still have the Robert Bork starter kit going?
  2. Um, do you remember in 2005 (I'm pretty sure that it was '05) he had a confrontation with Roy Oswalt? That lit a fire under the Astros, who were in the doldrums until they swept the Cubs, and they ended up going to the World Series that year. And about Barrett and Zambrano, I was only suprised it took that long for those two hotheads to clash.
  3. I think that my White Sox are going to ride out the season with him and try to re-sign him in the offseason (Kenny & Reinsdorf don't like to sign anyone to extensions during the season). They talked to his agent last offseason and tried to get an extension done then. The major sticking point was not cash, but length. Reinsdorf doesn't like to sign pitchers to 4- or 5-year deals because of the probablility of injury or the pitcher mailing it in the last year or two. Buehrle, through his agent, has promised the White Sox that he'll give them the opportunity to match whatever offers he receives. From what I've heard, Mark is a man of his word. My prediction is that next year, he'll be with one of two teams situated in towns along Interstate 55: the White Sox or St. Louis. The Cardinals are dying for pitching help, they have the cash and Mark grew up a fan of them.
  4. I'm going to miss having Barrett here in Chicago. Every time he takes the field, there's a good chance of a "Jerry Springer Show" breaking out. Just ask Zambrano and A.J. Pierzynski. Seriously though, us White Sox fans are heartbroken. We were looking forward to jeering him mercilessly this weekend for the crap he pulled last year. We didn't get the chance the day after because the spineless Dusty Baker didn't play him. Also, Barrett has been having an off-year at the plate and he's a huge liability behind the plate. I could steal second on him, and he's atrocious at blocking pitches in the dirt. Also, the coaches in charge of stealing signals have a field day with him because he doesn't change them at all.
  5. As someone who saw him play his first several years in the league with the White Sox, I am qualified to respond to this. Carlos Lee is no longer an up-and-comer. He'll be 31 on the 20th. He has tremendous power, but you have to be willing to take his many 0-3s with two strikeouts along with that. If he were on an AL roster, he'd have to be the DH. My five-year-old nephew is a better outfielder than he is. When he was here, the managers (Terry Bevington, Jerry Manuel and Ozzie Guillen) might as well have put a sign that said "Gone Fishin'" in LF. Also, he's a jerk. He was known to show up late and leave early at personal appearances. Paul Konerko, one of the nicest guys in the league, didn't get along with him.
  6. Is drew rosenhaus his agent?
  7. Dustbuster: $29.99 Heavy duty waffle bottom bases: $21.50 Rosin bag: $6.99 Making a fool of yourself and getting on all the sports highlight shows: priceless
  8. The only groin issue is he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to make his first start outside of Yankee Stadium.
  9. Well, the Yankees have wussed out and decided that they'd rather have Roger make his season debut at Yankee Stadium, blaming a "groin issue".
  10. Frankly, I was suprised it took this long for those two hotheads to get in each other's grills.
  11. He will be making his first start this year against my Sox. I hope they light him up like the last time he faced them, in Game 1 of the '05 World Series.
  12. Gary Sheffield is the last person I'd take any kind of advice from. He proudly admits to intentionally airmailing throws to get Milwaukee to trade him when he was younger.
  13. If you ask me, some small town hick lawyer is smellin' a chance to get his one big score before he retires.
  14. Wrigley is way overrated. The only reason why it's on most peoples' lists is because of the fact it's the world's largest beer garden. There is a better ballpark that is several CTA Red Line stops south. You have much less of a risk of stepping in urine, feces or vomit at US Cellular Field. The team that plays there is better too.
  15. Suzyn Waldman on WCBS Here's how I picture her: http://www.thesonsofemperornorton.com/honorary_member_images/phyllis_diller.jpg
  16. Will you all agree with me that, at the very least, the arrow is no longer pointing up on Moss? I mean, age 30 is when most of the skill position players (WR, RB, DB, LB ) reach their apex in terms of productiviity. They may stay there and plateau for a year or two, but most football experts agree that when a skill position player starts turns 32 or 33, the physical ability starts to decline due to wear and tear.
  17. Here's the problem. You don't win games on paper.
  18. I live in Chicago, so nope, a Bears fan.
  19. Why have you guys got your pride on over an aging malcontent?
