Fun fact:
Al Michaels was traded from ABC to NBC for a cartoon character.
Back before he created Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney was working under contract for Universal. One of the characters he created was Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. Even though Walt created Oswald, as part of the distribution deal he was owned by Universal.
Fast forward to 2006. NBC, which had been recently acquired by Universal, won the contract for the NFL's Sunday night games. They wanted to bring in Al Michaels, who was under contract to Disney-owned ABC at the time, to be the play-by-play man. In exchange for letting Al out of his contract, Disney was awarded the rights to several characters including Oswald.
