  1. Pedroia is looking pretty good as his main competitors seem to have leveled off. 1. Quentin is done and likely needed a 40 HR season and a White Sox division crown to win. 2. Hamilton has cooled off considerably and plays for a terrible team. 3. Morneau and Mauer should split up the votes and there is a good chance the Twins do not make the post season. 4. Sizemore plays for a weak team and I doubt you see the MVP and Cy Young come from a non-playoff team. 5. Arod has not had an A-rod-like season. When you factor in that Pedroia will likely win a gold glove, batting title, score 125-plus runs, hit nearly 20 Hr's, 80-plus RBI's, near 20 SB's, a near .900 OPS... I think he is the clear frontrunner at this juncture. Also, while Youks may split up some of Pedro's votes, the one consistent player in the Sox lineup all year has been Pedroia. Drew, Ortiz, and Lowell all missed significant time and even Youks has missed somegames in recent weeks. As the Red Sox have distanced themselves from the pack in the Wild Card, Pedroia has been the spark-plug and cornerstone of the offense.
  2. JASON BAY BABY! Leadoff double! Let's f***ing do this!
  3. Scutaro better get drilled tomorrow for that late slide. Papi's was legal...Scutaro's was CHEAP.
  4. another pathetic AB from Papi..boy he sure is warming up down the stretch.
  5. 5-2 Jays... This team is not ready for the playoffs. They cannot hit good pitching...eg. Kazmir, Halladay, Burnett, or even a slop throwing scrub like Jesse Litsch. Unless Lowell and Drew get healthy...this team will be one(series) and done.
  6. getting beat by the scrubs again.. The immortal Joe Inglett this time.
  7. wonderful play Jed... Brings me back to a scout's assesment of Lowrie's fielding... "he is usually ok, but he does one thing every game in the field that makes me want to rip my hair out". Yep..kind like that last play.
  8. That's the way to start it up!Time to put these bitches to bed for 2008!
  9. I too am ectstatic to see Lugo break out..he is showing some of that pop that should have had him on the All-Star team last year..he had a GREAT 1st half with Tampa. Lugo will be fine..he has always been a good offensive player. I think Drew is turning the corner as well. When I saw JD go to left twice in one game last night and rope a laser to center which Owens caught..I said to myself.."He finally may be getting it." I look for another HUGE offensive surge today...The White Sox may have awoken a sleeping giant.
  10. Lester is not very good at this point. He cannot throw strikes consistently to AAA hitters and nothing he has shown at the Major League level leads me to believe he would fare any better with the Sox. I am not a huge Lester fan..I think he is ok..but definitely someone I would hype and trade as part of a packagefor a proven pitcher or big time bat.
  11. Brady or Ortiz? Who should it be? Brady..3 rings. If there was a vote it would Definitely be Ortiz as the Red Sox have a HUGE edge in number of fans. The Patriots will always be 2nd fiddle to the Red Sox no matter how good they are. Baseball is king in NE..as it should be..baseball is the best game ever invented.
  12. I am not too keen on any trade involving Clay or Jacoby.... that being said..I would move Jacoby before Clay and if it were for a catcher of Salty's skillset..I may just do it.
  13. Couldn't happen to a bigger bunch of overpaid..overhyped, gutless pigs. They better think Early golf season.
  14. Next years rotation? 1. Beckett 2. Carlos Zambrano( I think we have had our eyes on him and this is why we did not even attempt to resign Schilling to extension). 3. Dice K 4. Lester 5. Wakefield There are only 1 or two teams who could outbid us anyhow...actually 1..lol..and they probably will.
  15. Well I have class at 6:30...don;t have time to match your slick cut and paste quotes display..breathtaking I say...breathtaking indeed... Anyhow.. Lester's AA numbers were very similar to Hughes's at the same level.. I didn't say he was better...Hughes is special..I am not denying that..I am just saying that being a lefty he is naturally bumped up a bit on the valuability scale...and if Hughes projects as a #1 I see Lester as a 1-A-#2 at the worst. Lester when throwing strikes reminds me of Pettite. I know this is after a small sample size..but he has a similar pitch arsenal and tough mental makeup which I liken to AP..and he throws a devastating cutter which has always been the pitch that killed us. I think his arsenal is will be pretty effective against the Yankees..assuming he throws strikes. Lester has already proven that even when he is wild..he is very capable of getting tough and working his way out of jams against some very god lineups..ATL and NYM last year to name a couple. Look at Schilling's last 5 outings vs. the Yankees..c'mon...I think we all know he cannot beat them. I think if he faced that lineup 10 times he would win twice(3-max). Those are not odds I would want, especially in the playoffs. And BTW....as for the moron..lol..funny.. I am off to my differential equations class.. 12 more credits until my Electrical Engineer BS is complete....what a moron I am...
  16. Well....I think Drew may just turn out to be a good leadoff hitter. Takes the pressure of having to be a POWER guy off him.. He could turn into a Brady Anderson type leadoff guy(minus the juice).. Drew has BIG-TIME power..especially to Right Center..that ball he hit last night was absolutely CRUSHED. I would have liked to see him knock in some more runs..but I think he could be a great table setter, along with Pedroia. Now we need to find a #5 hitter..lol.. I feel like we are the little boy trying to plug the dike.. I love the Texeira idea, ...he should have been ours anyhow.
  17. I think DelCarmen is being called up to showcase him in a trade... As of late.. Brian Corey has been UNHITTABLE.. last 12 IP ....0.73 ERA/12 K's/6 HA....under .97 WHIP. Corey must be the unluckiest guy in the Sox organization,..he was FANTASTIC in ST..then pitched his ass off in Pawtucket and still...it took 2 months for JC Romero to be ashown the door. I know Romero is a lefty but Corey has a FILTHY changeup that makes him VERY effective against LHH.
  18. Brian Corey??? Last 10 games... 12.1 IP/6 HA/1 ER/5 BB/12 K's He pitched so well in ST I thought he should have made the team over Timlin. He would do a good job. My fault..I think Corey is on 40 man... I thought this thread was asking who should get called up to the Big team.
  19. I am not complaining about anything.,.. I am stating my opinion that the Red Sox rotation may be better off without Schilling. I am not mad at Schill..he helped us win a Series at the risk of great Peril to himself...nobody will ever take that from him. I am saying this.. I think at some point this year..we will have to beat the Yankees, wether it is in the playoffs..or to win the division. I don't think Schilling can beat them. His pitch arsenal has become much too predictable for a team like that..they are too talented and disciplined to swing at his splitters in the dirt and he just doesn't have the necessary velocity on his fastball to get it past them. Also..the Yankees, due to this ridiculous schedule..see him too much. This was not a Schilling bitchfest... it is a "we may be better off without him because he just isn't that good anymore" realization. Anyhow..sorry..you can go back to fellating the Yankee fan.
  20. He insults my intelligence..I come back and preface my retort with an insult directed at the Yankee-pig and I get chastised? Is this a Red Sox board? Sheez.. I had valid points. Especially against the Yankees..I would much rather see Tavarez or Lester out there than even a healthy 40 year old Schilling. He just isn;t that good anymore...and he sure as hell cannot beat that Yankee lineup... They lay off his splitters in the dirt..and wait for the 92.. He cannot trick this team.
