  1. Josh Beckett in a landslide. Though Varitek, Ortiz, and Ellsbury could all represent the GOAT award admirably, Beckett has a lock on this dubious distinction. 8 runs? Are you fuggin kidding me? Even a decent-poor performance would have been good enough for the Sox to take a commanding 2-0 lead in this series. Instead we were treated to perhaps the worst post-season performance in Red Sox history. Beckett was given the lead on three separate occasions, only to cough it up. Beckett is to blame for the 2-1 hole the Sox are in. If he is hurt, he should say so. Maybe they can start Masterson in Game 6...if there is one. If that is the best Beckett can offer, he needs to pack it in for 2008.
  2. Oh please...more like you HOPE the Rangers won't trade the Sox Teagarden. Here's a little tip for you.. If the Red Sox offer Michael Bowden, they can have Teagarden or Ramirez. Do you think the Rangers will keep all three catchers including Salty. Have you seen their pitching staff, or lack thereof?? The Red Sox will have one of the Rangers catching prospects by the start of next season...book it.
  3. can't get mad at Pedroia...though it was obvious as hell Howell would throw him a changeup the way Dustin has been hitting the fastball. Would have liked to see him take a pitch in that situation. It is not like Papi was going to do anything anyhow.
  4. Tek, Ellsbury, and Ortiz should find themselves on the bench tomorrow. Had any of them done ANYTHING in game 2 we would be up 2-0 going into this game. Right now, all three are automatic outs. I know Ortiz will play....but he really doesn't deserve to. Crisp should start over Ellsbury and Cash will catch Wakes.
  5. Teagarden. If Bowden alone gets us Teagarden, so be it. If it costs more...we have what it takes. Varitek is toast. I wouldn't resign him unless he played for 3 million and understood he was going to be a backup. Varitek is one of the worst hitters in baseball...truly pathetic. And before anyone gets all sentimental and tells me what a great DEFENSIVE catcher he is, save your breath.. Tek is an average defensive catcher at best. Tek has a cream puff arm, slow release and two PB's this post-season that have hurt the Sox. Thanks for the memories Tek.
  6. When Great teams smell blood..they go for the kill... Are the 2008 Boston Red Sox a GREAT team? Youks/Drew/Bay? We shall soon see.
  7. Next inning will be Varitek/Drew/Ellsbury.
  8. We gotta do it now! Let's go Ellsbury get us going! I got a feeling Pedroia is gonna do something here.
  9. MDC....f***ing exceptional. Now let's get some runs!
  10. September stats for the Sox top 3 starters: Beckett: 2.16 ERA, 25 IP, 20 Hits, 4 BB, 27 Ks Dice-K: 2.74 ERA, 23 IP, 17 Hits, 12 BB, 25 Ks Lester: 2.28 ERA, 27.2 IP, 24 Hits, 12 BB, 24 Ks
  11. Yeah, Manny is quite transparent. He is the best pure-hitter I have seen in my lifetime and I really do miss his bat in the Sox lineup....but I am looking forward to upcoming years without Manny's belly-aching.
  12. Beckett in Game 1...no question here. Lifetime sub-2.00 ERA in 70-plus post-season innings. Dice-K in Game 2...one could make a compelling argument for Lester here but with Dice-K's .178 BAA on the road and Lester's utter dominance at home...this is really a no-brainer. Lester in Game 3 I like Lester over Saunders who has been struggling mightily in last 2 months. If it goes to a game 4, which I suspect it will....Beckett comes back to finish Angels off. September stats for the Sox top 3 starters: Beckett: 2.16 ERA, 25 IP, 20 Hits, 4 BB, 27 Ks Dice-K: 2.74 ERA, 23 IP, 17 Hits, 12 BB, 25 Ks Lester: 2.28 ERA, 27.2 IP, 24 Hits, 12 BB, 24 Ks
  13. Assuming Drew can play effectively, Sox win series 3-1. Beckett does not lose in October. Lester/Saunders matchup is in our favor. Dice-K can keep us close on road vs. Santana. Santana has never won a big game... I love our chances. I would be willing to bet Mr. Scioscia, given his choice, would have chosen any other playoff team to face in round 1 other than the Sox.
  14. Did Maddon burn out Rays pen vs. Sox? Me thinks so. No Balfour tonight and Wheeler got worked over like a dimestore hooker! Yee-haw!
  15. Kotsay sucks really bad. The only thing slower than Kotsay's bat is Sean Casey.
  16. Youkilis missed a FAT, sloppy, hanger. If Sonnanstine leaves that curve up there tonight...the Sox will abuse him.
  17. I think it is time to send a definitive message to these punks. Thanks for keeping 1st warm and all...but get to steppin'. Seriously, it is time to start getting into post-season form and it starts with our ace..."Mr. October". I am kinda hoping Gomes gets a pinch hit appearance and the Sox are well ahead...He deserves to be earholed for wailing on Coco while he was being pinned down and could not defend himself. Gomes is a fuggin coward...a low-life of the highest accord.
  18. Not a bad choice..but I disagree.. Cliff Lee is not fit to shine Pedro Martinez's shoes.. and yes I know this is a thin MVP candidate pool, but I cannot cast my vote to ANY Pitcher if Pedro didn't get an MVP for years 1998-2001.
  19. If the Sox win the division, Pedroia is a lock. If they don't, it would take the Twins winning the division and Morneau staying extremely hot. I think Pedroia has got it.
  20. Pedroia struck out in AAA on a sequence of 97 MPH fastball, 90 MPH slider, 97 MPH Fastball.... Brandon Moss asks him, "Hey, what's he got?" Pedroia barks.."He aint got f***ing s***!" Pedroia faces Mike Pelfrey in college, homers to dead center, as he is running to 1st he looks right at him and yells "97 coming in, 197 going out, I 'm gonna be coming at you all day!"
  21. Yes to Bowden for Salty.... Absolutely NO to Buchholz for Salty. Clay has ACE stuff. Guys who throw as hard as he does with 3-plus pitches are extremely hard to come by. He has already thrown a no-hitter in his brief major league career. I see Bowden as a #4...#3 at best. Texas has plenty of catching and I suspect they would jump all over this deal should Theo extend the offer. They had to give Volquez to get the face of their franchise...and it was a good deal for them. It is time for Texas to add some Major League ready prospects to their staff. "McCann is a good catcher and an incredibly smart hitter, but wait till you see the guy we got in the minors..."Salty", he is the total package."--Chipper Jones
  22. This lineup should scare the crap out of anyone the Sox face. Drew Pedroia Ortiz Youkilis Bay Lowell Lowrie Varitek Crisp/Ellsbury
