  1. Just for fun, here's my Braves outlook with Peavy: C-Brian McCann 1B-Casey Kotchman 2B-Kelly Johnson SS-Open 3B-Chipper Jones LF-Open (Diaz, Blanco, Acquisition are all possibilities) CF-Josh Anderson RF-Jeff Francoeur SP1-Jake Peavy SP2-Open-I would expect them to get another SP here. SP3-Jorge Campillo SP4-Jair Jurrjens SP5-Jo-Jo Reyes/Charlie Morton (if either stays) So if they get Peavy, I would still expect another starting pitcher of #2-3 quality. I also expect them to sign a LF. Adam Dunn, Pat Burrell and Raul Ibanez all come to mind. I've also heard of them having interest in Rafael Furcal (again) if they do in fact trade Yunel Escobar.
  2. I could see them nabbing an Ibanez or Burrell for LF.
  3. He's been a solid pitcher for the Marlins in 07 and 08 but I wouldn't put him at closer.
  4. I wouldn't say that the two are exclusive. Giambi and Abreu could both very well be gone, leaving an OF of Damon/Swisher/Nady, Matsui at DH and Tex at 1B. Swish played plenty of CF over the past two years.
  5. Especially when the other side is the National League West. I agree though, no go for Lowe.
  6. The November 13 version of the Marlins firesale! Interesting to see where Wood ends up.
  7. Career .805 OPS is pretty appealing though. With the Sox he would not have had a solid starting job probably, but he would have been very useful.
  8. Yeah, to think they only gave up Marquez makes me even more pissed we didn't get him.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3700869 Shucks.
  10. Buy two 20 million dollar mansions instead of one?
  11. Hell, it only took them a short time to get awful, they can flip that around quickly too.
  12. I've already voiced my opinion on the last quote, but I disagree mainly because of Bay's numbers. Also, anyone see/hear Bill Lee's rant on Manny? http://www.bostonscore.com/featured/i-think-bill-lee-likes-manny/10016042.html
  13. If you can get him at or near the minimum, then I can't see why not. Anyone know what he's looking for?
  14. There's also a 2012 option. But I agree jack, I would have let one of the kids take a spot.
  15. They still could have sold out 81 with a small raise, but I won't complain.
  16. So...it's an encyclopedia.
  17. That sucks. But so it goes.
  18. McLouth was indeed an iffy choice. I would have put the outfield at Rowand, Beltran, Pence.
  19. In the Democratic Primary thread someone voted for Hillary today.
  20. Good for him, he deserves it. He's going to have a hell of a career.
  21. Anyone know how high Atlanta is on Morton? I don't know much about him, but he wasn't very good in his rookie year.
  22. The Braves are still the most likely suitor and Buster Olney claims that progress is being made and expects a deal by Thanksgiving. He says the Braves would send Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez and one of Jo Jo Reyes or Charlie Morton. He says the Cubs are getting involved too. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3695551&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines If I'm the Padres, I ask for Escobar and Tommy Hanson. Atlanta probably doesn't accept though. Also, if SD gets Escobar that increases the possibility for a Khalil Greene deal somewhere.
