  1. Okay, but when we were discussing this, Peavy was likely. They'll still get at least another quality starter, probably two.
  2. Right, I forgot about the possibility that Smoltz and/or Hudson could still pitch. If they can put in some innings I wouldn't call their rotation putrid, though right now Peavy is looking like a pipe dream.
  3. http://www.ajc.com/services/content/sports/braves/stories/2008/11/14/braves_peavy_trade.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=21 Braves apparently out of the Peavy race.
  4. No big news here, everybody expected the Yanks to make a huge offer.
  5. As for the actual trade, I'm really not liking this for the Cubs. Ceda is a really good closing prospect, probably their second best pitching prospect after Jeff Samardzija. His ceiling is as a stud closer, but a more realistic projection still puts him above Gregg. Wood is better than Gregg too.
  6. And here I was thinking that 1=1. Foolish.
  7. Let it out, brotha.
  8. But it works out pretty well. Two rings for a 16 year old franchise is pretty impressive. I would enjoy being a Fish fan, watching the young guys come up. Besides, it's about the front of the jersey.
  9. According to Keith Law. 11-50 are for Insiders, so I posted them here. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hotstove08/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=3698363 1. Mark Teixiera 2. CC Sabathia 3. Manny Ramirez 4. AJ Burnett 5. Derek Lowe 6. Rafael Furcal 7. Adam Dunn 8. Ryan Dempster 9. Milton Bradley 10. Oliver Perez 11. Pat Burrell 12. Orlando Hudson 13. Kerry Wood 14. Bobby Abreu 15. Jeremy Affeldt 16. Francisco Rodriguez 17. Randy Johnson 18. Brian Fuentes 19. Juan Cruz 20. Brandon Lyon 21. Orlando Cabrera 22. Koji Uehara 23. Ben Sheets 24. Randy Wolf 25. Junichi Tazawa 26. Andy Pettitte 27. Felipe Lopez 28. Jason Giambi 29. Mike Mussina 30. Edgar Renteria 31. Casey Blake 32. Jim Edmonds 33. Raul Ibanez 34. Joe Crede 35. Gabe Kapler 36. Jon Garland 37. Ken Griffey Jr. 38. Paul Byrd 39. Gregg Zaun 40. Juan Rivera 41. David Weathers 42. Kenshin Kawakami 43. Braden Looper 44. Pedro Martinez 45. Mike Hampton 46. Ivan Rodriguez 47. Jamie Moyer 48. Brad Penny 49. Jason Varitek 50. Ramon Vazquez Impressions: This list is f***ing miserable. -The top three are okay, but those are easy. Jeremy Affeldt is an okay middle reliever, but it is beyond me how he is before K-Rod. K-Rod isn't the best closer in baseball, but he's certainly better than a 1.3 WHIP NLC middle reliever. -Gabe Kapler is #35. Let that sink in for a bit. Above Ken Griffey, Jon Garland, Juan Rivera. Honestly, is there any way that he comes close to OPSing .838 again? Even he does, he isn't a starter. -#44-47 are clearly a random selection of 1998 All Stars. Probably put their names in a hat and closed his eyes. -Sheets, Giambi, Penny, Ibanez, F. Rodriguez are all too low IMO. So, what is the purpose of this thread you ask? Please post your opinions on this list, and more importantly, make predictions for where you think guys will end up. Did I mention that I love the off-season?
  10. Ever since dreilly left, I know you need someone. And hey, do you happen to black? Because as of a few days ago...
  11. The Gom school of thought comes into play here.
  12. Thanks Gom, good stuff.
  13. I would have abused you more had you not bought them.
  14. Bummer, but that was an awesome game. Came back from 24-6 to send it to overtime and saw some more good Cassel progression.
  15. I see, thanks. I haven't been a Pats fan in a season worse than 9-7, but only because I wasn't old enough to appreciate them in 2000 or before. But based on other football teams and other sports, I know how quickly everything can change. It's nice to consistently be good, but eventually we'll go back to mediocre/suck, so I enjoy it while I can. 34 yarder for the win now.
  16. Ouch, FG range.
  17. Of course not. But how are we being "pussies" in the GT?
  18. You and your petty details... In all seriousness, I do worry about the transition back to the ALE from the NLW. However if we can get him for a decent price, sure. Our infield defense is much better. And he likes the Boston sluts.
  19. It's sudden death.
  20. Rightfully so. In a game this important, no way.
  21. But...THE FACE!
  22. JFC what a pass and catch. PAT sends it to OT.
