  1. Papi get one out of the infield yesterday?
  2. plus a vial each of hgh. wooohooo.
  3. No doubt, son. The best that money can buy.
  4. Some of us said all along, despite how well Thomas played in the regular season, that he was prone to a softie in a key spot at times. While Wideman did a lousy job of checking Walker, Thomas did make the mistake we feared. In fairness, he did play very well throughout the playoffs...but the game 7 gaffe is undeniable. His salary next year, IIRC, is $6m, then it goes $6m, $5m, $3m. From the Globe back when the deal was announced: "When a player signs a new deal after his 35th birthday, per the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), although he can be bought out (at a two-thirds reduction in pay), his cap number can not be deleted from the club's salary commitments. For next year, and for either two or three more years, Thomas will be on Boston's books for some $5 million a year. But because he has signed the deal before age 35, the Bruins have the safeguard -- that they would want to execute it -- to be able to buy him out at any time, cut their dollar commitment by one-third, and be able to spread the payments over twice the remaining term of the deal. It is a significant safeguard." I suspect that he is their #1 guy for the next 2 yrs with Rask starting to play more as time goes on...then if Tim is getting long in the tooth. look for them to buy him out after the 2010-2011 season. Problem is...does anyone see the Bruins winning a cup with Thomas in net? We're not the Red Wings you know.
  5. Don't forget the air pump and emergency patch kit...just in case she springs a leak in the Burger King parking lot.
  6. I'm a Tim Thomas detractor usually, but have to say he played very well in this series. Looked like Whitney's shot handcuffed him, and I would cal it soft, but if Wideman does his job and nullifies Walker, that wouldn't have been the game winner.
  7. I haven't missed a game since about Mid-February. So here's a game 7 and sh*t if I don't have a function to go to tonight. The good news is that it's at a bar and MAYBE I can have one of the TVs tuned into the game...bad news is I won't be at home to watch it with my sons, from my favorite seat with my favorite beer (Beck's Dark) and my ample supply of xanax should the game be tight.
  8. Caps-Pens result shows how things can turn in a direction we're not expecting. LEt's hope the Bruins have a different fate...they're the better team, but ya never know. If the Bruins play physical but clean and can avoid being pinned in their own zone 2-3 minutes at a time, they should win...got to solve the Canes forecheck a little better than games 2,3,4 and 6 where there were moments that scared the hell outta me.
  9. To be fair to Mr. Regular Season, he could have meant having lost his Dad to a heart attack, having almost lost his brother and having seen his step-dad die of a heart problem were all defining moments to him. He tried to clear the air in this regard today by sending a message to Mike and Mike stating just this. For what it's worth, Mike and Mike say they never batted an eye when he mentioned his step-dad because their understanding was what I mentioned above...that he wasn't linking them genetically, just saying he'd seen that happen and it affected him greatly. I don't believe a word this guy says, I'm confident he was a PED user...but on this particular issue folks are just picking away over something relatively meaningless.
  10. the enitre second half of the period was painful to watch. They simply can't figure out Carolina's forecheck right now.
  11. great goaltending in the Pitts/Wash game 6 eh? not.
  12. After the Walker sucker punch, the objective Carolina fans on HF chimed in that they didn't like it...thought it was cheap. Later, the less knowledgeable fans hit the board and even today they're saying stuff like "Ward called Walker a retard, he deserved it" and "If you can't take it, don't give it" Most of these "fans" find it acceptable that Walker suckered Ward and actually are happy. IMO, it was totally indefensible...not pre-meditated, but still, not giving a guy any chance to defend himself is cheap.
  13. New homer friendly park plus "supplements"
  14. Jeez, by your logic if a player hits 3 HRs a year for 10 yrs, then juices and hits 15 for the next 5 years, he's not to be suspected because he didn't hit 20? I'm guessing you're just being a dick with the post above, because somehow I can't imagine you're so ignorant that you don't understand the concept of a spike in performance...meanwhile you conveniently ignore the rest of the post which not only qualified my suspicions but also further supported them based upon criteria that goes beyond the rise and fall of Jeter's numbers. By the way, fixed your post for you.
  15. Example, I'm with you. Your list captures a high percentage of those I've always suspected.
  16. For the record, I suspect Jeter used, likely somewhere around 1999-2004. Seems to me he put on a little bit of mass (legs mainly) and has since trimmed down again. Could be wrong, just a hunch based on a subtle change in physique and what I believe goes on in the heads of baseball's top players. As for HR numbers? 1996 10 1997 10 1998 18 1999 24 2000 15 2001 21 2002 18 2003 10 (only 119 games) 2004 23 2005 19 2006 14 2007 12 2008 11 (34 yrs old) Tough to conclude anything...did he spike in 1998-2004 because of experience and a maturing body? Could be. Did he tail off in 2006-2008 because he's old? Not likely, he was only 34 in 2008. Not everyone gets the same results from using, not all users use for the same reason and not all PEDs have the same effect...so looking at power numbers won't tell the whole story in every case. He may never have touched a PED..or he may have used in those years where he had respectable HR numbers...or he may have used studd his entire career. We just don't know...but I'm not naive enough to say "he didn't do it" or "LOL" at the comment regarding hsi HR numbers, because just about every guy that's tested positive, been named in investigations or simply been under great scrutiny based on various evidence are guys I had on my list.
  17. How are they tainted? If the opponent's players are using too, isn't it a level playing field?
  18. Papsmear is probably alreadey salivating at this news.
  19. Curious...why do people think he's clean and has always been so? What is this notion based upon?
  20. you saying you think that is the prevailing notion? I don't think so. Some may think he just started, but I think the majority of fans probably suspect this goes back a ways. The 90's were a big time for steroid use and he broke in during that era, on a team with several guys who I suspect used (Albert Belle, Thome, et al). I'd guess there's a good chance he did it back then.
