    Wow, surprising eh? No. 7 maybe 8 yrs ago or so many of us had this guy on our suspected list, along with Sheff, ARod, McGwire, Bonds, Manny, Palmiero, etc. Slowly they drop as had been predicted. Kind of adds validity to the suspicions that have been expressed regarding such players as Bagwell, Luis Gonzales, Juan Gon, Jim Thome, Albert Belle, Brady Anderson, Andrue Jones, Tejada, Nomar, Glaus, Rolen amongst many, many others. Have we bene proven wrong yet? I guess the pitfall is that it's tougher (impossible?) to prove a guy never used than it is to prove a guy did use. However, the more names that come out who were suspected, the more it makes other suspicions carry more weight.

    Again...why? Was it an untrue statement? IMO, no, it was on the money. KRod handled, initially, just fine. But then HE escalated it by confronting Bruney. Fuk 'em both then.

    I have no problem with what Bruney said. He called it like he (and I'm guessing a whole lot of other players...didn't Huff once mimic KRod after hitting a HR off him?) see it, said he was taught to play the game a different way....so what's the big deal? Then KRod comes out with a pretty good reply...the whole "Who is Bruney?" thing...but then he negates it by confronting Bruney before the game. Fkn players need to get over themselves.

    A team is never as good as their winning streak or as bad as their losing streak. The truth lies somewhere between. What I take away from the 8-0 (0-8 from the Yanks perspective) is that thus far the Yankees have showed minimal capacity to win games that really matter, while the Red Sox have done the opposite. If Sox-Yankees matchups are a barometer for post-season success, the Yankees are in deep trouble. But that's just one opponent. I believe the other testing series the Yankees had was against Philly and they were 1-2 in that one. The Sox may have the 8-0 advantage vs the Yanks but are 4-5 against TB and and 2-4 against the Angels, two teams that you'd generally consider using as a barometer for Sox success. I'm interested in seeing how the Sox handle Philly this weekend, especially coming off a really nice win last night.

    I don't think Red Sox fans are expecting the kid to be anything more than what he's shown to date...a decent fielding SS with some ability to hit, but with limited pop, limited star potential. He is what he is, and if the rest of the Sox line-up performs the way they can, they'll be fine with Lowrie in the line-up. I don't pressure being an issue...in fact one could make a case that there is very little pressure on him given the other SS options the team has.

    Not really...what marks his career is the bat attack in the Independent Atlantic League in 2007...hit the catcher in the head...what a piece of garbage this guy was. As I understand it, the guy he hit is still messed up today.

    Reggie Smith Tiant George Scott Jim Rice Dwight Evans Fisk Rogelio Moret Bernie Carbo Pedro Reggie Smith was my first favorite Sox player (when I was about 6?)...as I recall he had a gun for an arm.

    Exactly, so far the Wings depth trumps the Pitts studs (Crosby/Malkin). An observation on the Wings...they interfere a LOT and don't get called for it. Carolina did the same thing to the Bruins. Pitts dumps and chases, Detroit D-man subtley obstructs the forecheckers path, but it IS interference. IMO this is a substantial issue in this series, I think they are very well drilled on what they can get away with in playoff hockey.

    WIngs just find a way to win. Last night at least two of the three goals were garbage goals, the third one was a nice play but occured on a fortunate bounce. Lot of depth on that team...ridiculous depth.

    The latest Nick Johnson rumor I'd heard was manny Delcarmen for Johnson. That's a lot to give away for a guy who has had tremendous difficulty staying healthy. And no one give me the "the injuries weren't his fault, they were flukes" argument, because they happened, period. It may also have been flukey when JD Drew suffered some of his injuries...like that time he got his vagina caught in the car door...but nontheless repeated trips to the DL are a huge concern and red flag.

    Nick Johnson? I dunno, I've always liked the guy and waited for him to stay healthy and really break out...a few yrs ago I recall saying the Sox should acquire him, he's a good fielder and historically puts up great OBP numbers, but... He's back playing fulltime now, hitting .337 and gonna cost more than he would have in days gone by, but he's still only got 4 HRs and 7 doubles (plus a triple)...so only 12 of his 56 hits have gone for extra bases. Sox need better power numbers than that from a guy that might cost some decent talent going the other way.
