  1. Philly is for real. They have big imposing yet mobile d-men and a lot of depth upfront. If I were a Philly fan I'd have the same concern as I do for the B's. Can their goalies win the big one? Neither one, Biron or Nittymaki, strikes fear in the heart of an opponent. There are a number of good goalies currently on the rise in the league. Detroit has Conklin, Anaheim has Jonas Hiller, Backstrom in Minny, Steve Mason in COlumbus has been real hot, Pekka Rinne in Nashville is another good one. One major dissapointment is Lundquist. He has had too many really awful performances this year. If he weren't one of my fantasy team's goalies I'd be thrilled cuz I hate the Rangers almost as much as the Habs.
  2. Aaron you fkn douchebag, if you're sincere, then I hope there's heaping praise in that book for Larry Lucchino and perhaps a smattering of praise for Dan Duchette, cuz Theo did not single-handedly take the Sox to the promised land.
  3. On the NYDaily NEws site they followed the blog and conducted a survey asking if people thought he was telling the truth. 25% said they believed AROD...translation? If you stand next to three other people, the survey tells us that one of you is a f***tard.
  4. In his opening remarks all he says is that in 2001-2003 he and his cousin did some stuff called bole...but didn't know what it was. My guess is that this was the Primobolan...and my guess is that he knew very well what he was taking.
  5. Q: Did you ever experiment with HGH or amphetamines? A: "What I used to take a lot, especially in my Seattle days, was rip fuel. I believe it's since been banned by MLB and taken off the shelves at GNC." Bwahahahahahahahahaha! It's called RIPPED FUEL and it contained ephedra...it was a cutting agent, and was not a steroid. It probably did act like an amphetamine. ARod tested positive for testosterone and methenolone...he's been told that, yet he still says he doesn't know what he used. ALex...numbnuts...they TOLD you what you tested for! DId a little research: Methenolone (brand name Primobolan) is one of the mildest steroids...low estrogenic effects, great when stacked with testosterone because, as an injectable, you can inject each drug a couple of times per month, with low damage to liver function and minimal impact on cholesterol. It is considered the drug of choice with beginners, those who don't require the mass building effects of the hard-core steroids and get this...it is one of the least detectable 'roids. I can find no evidence that any OTC supplement includes, or has EVER included, methenolone as an ingredient, and you won't test positive because you ate beef that had been injected with the stuff. He's a f***ing liar.
  6. Is anyone, or did anyone, listen to the press conference? I can't at work, but there is a blog being updated on NYDailyNEws.com after every question and answer. Right off the bat he pulled exactly the s*** we expected. Q:"What was the benefit of the substance you took?" A: "I'm not sure what the benefit was. I will say this, when you take any substance or anything, it's half phyical and half mental. If you take this glass of water and say it's going to make me a better baseball palyer, and you believe it, it'll make you a better baseball player ... it gave me more energy, but it's hard to say." But then he admits it was somethign he injected...you don't inject stuff if you don't know what it is and what it is expected to do. This is going to be f***ing hilarious...you can't make this s*** up!
  7. Bruney looks like he doesn't work out at all...looks fkn soft.
  8. We also do not know what kind of $ per year he was looking for in a 4 yr contract. If it was something like $11-12m per year, then the sides are pretty far apart.
  9. So here we go again...just like last year. Any mention of frustration over Drew not being able to be counted on to be on the field, and we're somehow calling him a pussy. As I said, if you're rooting for the name on the front of the jersey it is hard not to be frustrated by a $14m/yr RF who you have to cross your fingers for to be on the field regularly. I like Drew, I like what he brings to the table offensively and defensively and I feel bad for him that he's got these injury issues...but he does have them and the cast of characters that we've rolled out in place of him isn't always a comfort. As for the Trot comment, the same Sox fans that are concerned over Drew's health are the ones who were always concerned over Trot's ability to be on the field day in, day out. Doesn't matter who the player is or what his perceived toughness is, we're pulling for the TEAM and want a solid contribution from it's starters...they can't contribute when they're on the shelf.
  10. Da Soz iz my favrit teem and i wuv dem vewy much no matr wut da linup iz.
  11. Legit injury or not, I'm with Crunchy. Some of us have been saying for...oh, since they time they announced his sighning, that his injury histiry was of major concern. Seems last year some posters here took issue when we called him the "f" word....fra....fragi....ok, I'll say it...FRAGILE. Here's the deal...for those of us who root for the name on the front of the uni, Drew's propensity to be out of the line-up...be it a back, shoulder, wrist or vaginal issue...are frustrated. Given this most recent news, I find myself thinking: hmmm...Bobby Abreu woulda been nice for at least a 1-year trial, no?
  12. It seems to me that teams are now doing to the Bruins what the Bruins were doing to the entire league up until a few weeks ago. The B's are being outworked a bit, and when their opponent gets a lead they're now able to suffocate the offense. I think it is really a product of teams learning how to play the Bruins...in fact the Flyers and Devils and Sharks recently looked MORE like the Bruins of a month ago than the Bruins have. Approx. 3 weeks ago, the B's announcers claimed the Krejci line was the best in the league...I haven't heard that muttered in some time now. That line has to be effective as it creates a dilemma for opposing teams as to which line they key on...without them being productive, it is easier for opponents to sit on the Savard line. I've been wondering if Lucic is still hurting. He looks like a shell of the Lucic from the first half...not as agressive, not hitting with the same authority. Bergeron has been playing ok, but he is not the same...one of the things that made him the player he was was his toughness and willingness to absorb, or throw, a hit...he shies away from contact now, and I can't say I blame him. The loss of Ryder is huge right now too...he is sorely missed at both ends of the ice. IMO, this is nore than a "rough spot"...some flaws in the Bruins are being exposed and it'll take a lot of hard work and grit to get back on track...Julien may need to find a mix that works and may also need to look at tweaking the B's system a touch as I think opponents are savvy to their system.
  13. The guys look good...Smoltz looks to be in good shape...Chris Carter is a rock.
  14. I agree that their success is due to great depth. However, let's consider a playoff scenario akin to what I mentioned above...suppose Savard is shut down, and Krejci is shut down...they are the two players that their lines depend on most, maybe not always in terms of goals, but as far as setting up plays. Opposing teams will key heavily on them in the playoffs and be extremely physical with them...if they're nullified and Thomas or Fern has a less than stellar playoff, it could mean a quick exit. This really goes for any team...your studs have to be reasonably effective and you've got to get outstanding goaltending.
  15. Biggest issue for Mast last year, IMO, was control of the slider...his moves a tremendous amount but he was missing with it quite often. Kid has the tools though and ultimately I expect he'll develop his command.
  16. Lowell's teammates will likely make him feel very appreciated and I know at the Sox home oppener the fans will make give him quite a rousing ovation.
  17. I think the ump in question (Hirshbeck?) said he wasn't concerned and wishes Alomar the best.
  18. Some day I'm going to get up to Montreal and see a B's-Habs game...never have gotten there, and I'm about as diehard a B's fan as anyone I know down here in CT.
  19. I'd agree, Dojji.
  20. "Arod, so you don't know what you took and you only did it from 2001-2003 and it was only because of the teemendous pressure in Texas, the hot bed of MLB?" "Yes, that's right" http://photos-f.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-snc1/v2288/176/30/1533978772/a1533978772_190237_1927.jpg "ARod, is your Dad, by chance, named Gepetto?"
  21. I was watching a sports channel last night and they did a thing on ARod...showed a little of Seattle, Texas and then NY. Although the intent was not to show his size, there was one clip where he was in the Yankees away uniform, I think it was 2007...he looked absolutlely huge...they showed him next to a couple of teammates and his head, neck, shoulders and legs just looked massive relative to his teammates and especially as compared to his earlier days. No way this lieing f*** quit after 2003. If ARod was Pinnochio his nose would like a fkn broomhandle.
  22. I'm not sure the B's are in a position TO do anything about it. Like you, despite the Bruins leading the NHL in points, I have doubts about their ability to reach the finals. Part of it has to do with how they were last year...have they REALLY improved that much in a year? Or are things just going very, very well for them? I've seen too many teams with 100+ pts get bounced from the playoffs in the first round and typically it comes down to a mediocre performance by a couple of top scorers and their goalie. As I recall, though, the B's are tight on cap room next year, there are several RFAs who'll eat up most of what is coming off the books. Either Thomas or Fernandez won't be here next year, on that you can pretty much bank.
