  2. blah blah bitch about the front office blah blah masturbate to johnny damon and pedro blah f***ing blah
  3. I'm out for the rest of the night, hopefully tonight results in a W.
  4. This is so frustrating to watch. Getting bombed is one thing, putting runners on for free is another story.
  5. Why can't he mix in some breaking balls? This is like watching Beckett 2.0 with worse control and less velocity.
  6. It's not the mound's fault, Jon. Throw strikes.
  7. Letser's living on the edge again.
  8. Yeah, I know, I was being sarcastic.
  9. Clutch hitting is a myth, man.
  10. 31 pitches that inning. Nice work. Hopefully Lester is efficient and gets the offense right back out there.
  11. Village Voice Media!! Awesome!!!!
  12. The win streak starts tonight.
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Williamson didn't pitch in the playoffs. Also, regular season =/= playoffs
  14. I'll give you Schilling and Pedro. Tim Wakefield - 12-10, 4.87 ERA, 188.1 IP. Derek Lowe - 14-12, 5.42 ERA, 182.2 IP. The bullpen was good, and had that one stretch at the start of the year when they didn't allow a run, but I wouldn't classify it as "lights out." Nixon was out for much of the year. I also agree with the last part, that pitching is the only thing that will help the Sox.
  15. Then why didn't Duke win with them? He swindled the Expos for Pedro, signed Nomar, gave Manny a ridiculous contract, traded for Lowe and Tek, and signed Damon. But he absolutely raped the farm system doing so. In turn, towards the end of his tenure, the Sox didn't have the prospects needed to have to make deals for the parts they lacked. Look at some of the teams that Boston fielded towards the late nineties and early 00s. Outside of Nomar, Manny, and Pedro, there wasn't much there. One could argue that Duquette wasted the best pitching years any one pitcher has ever had because he couldn't build the parts around Pedro to deliver a championship. Theo was able to. He was the one who brought in Ortiz, Schilling, and Foulke. Without those acquisitions, we're waiting on year 88. He had the balls to trade Nomar. Duquette did some great things as Sox GM. But he always fell just short. Again, it comes down to the fact that Theo has made a committment to grow from within and become more financially responsible. Contending is easier when you don't have to rely on the free agent market as much. You can depend on your own resources, rather than catering to the whims of your competitors.
  16. Everything you say is overshadowed by that joke of a username.
  17. But, in a way, didn't you just answer your own question? Can't a team with as many resources as the Red Sox retool but at the same time use the resources in place to contend for the playoffs? Next year's Red Sox team will still have plenty of veterans. Varitek, Lowell, Crisp, Youkilis, Ramirez, Ortiz, Schilling, etc. etc. Hopefully they resign Gonzalez. The position players we're arguing to replace are Trot Nixon and Mark Loretta/Alex Cora. Nixon will be replaced because he's on the decline. Look at the stats. His power numbers for a corner outfielder suck. He's decent in RF, but he's an injury risk and is not very fast. Pena has more upside, and I think can become a superstar once he gets regular PT. The talk of Loretta being replaced is not for what he hasn't done, but for what Pedroia HAS done. The kid can absolutely rake, and has succeded at every level of ball he's played in. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Loretta to a one year deal to serve as a mentor and platoon with Pedroia, but I don't think Loretta will agree to a one year deal as it'd be his last big shot at a nice FA contract.
  18. Pedro wasn't going to make a difference last season. He wasn't pitching in September.
  19. If I had to choose, I would have kept Pedro over Damon. Whatever, I'm really tired of having this argument for the 500th time. The Sox have two winnable series coming up. I think 5-1 over the next six will make people feel a lot better about things.
  20. The slight difference between you and he is that you've never actually said anything ban-worthy.
  21. I'd love if that happened.
  22. The bad moves can be defended, though. I really think the only legit mistakes he made were paying too much for Renteria, and the fact that he can never really build a consistent pen.
  23. You can't really pick and choose the arguments you make, because I don't think Pedro will be worth his deal in two years, either. Lest we forget he got shut down early last year due to injury and has a .700 winning percentage in the National League. IMO, Pedro and Damon were let go for the same reasons, so if Pedro was a mistake Damon was, too. I happen to agree with what the FO decided to do in those instances, but then again that's neither here nor there. Also, I'd like to know how many of Damon's homeruns are Yankee Stadium specials. Keep in mind that Fenway isn't the best HR park for lefties.
