  1. Since it was my post that sparkedthis coversation I think I should give you a better explanation. I agree with you that games are won and lost in this league in the trenches - but if you don't have a capable QB in this league it doesn't matter who good the lines are, you can't win. 24 months ago Vick was in a federal prison and last year he played a very small percentage of the Eagles' offensive snaps. To use a pick so early on him when there are about 4 other quarterbacks who could be better for your team than him was nothing short of a head scratcher. I believe Eli Manning, Flacco, and a few otter capable QBs went off the board after your pick of Vick. Terrell Owens was by far the worst pick in the draft to this point. The guy is 37 years old and will be out of football within two years. There's a laundry list of receivers I'd take before Owens in that spot. Your O-line is good but a lot of that has to do with Hutchinson, Mankins had a subpar year last year and hasn't played a down this year. Your defense has playmakers but a lot of them are on the back 9 like Urlacher and Reed. If were talking who has the best team over the next three years, I'm pretty confident your team will struggle to be a .500 team compared to the others.
  2. As for my worst teams here, I don't like Boston22407's team. He has some decen players on his defense but I don't think Vick is any kind of long term answer at QB. he selected Chris Johnson way too early for my liking (and he got great value with Marion Barber as his 2nd RB - go figure). Owens that high could be the worst pick in the draft to this point. Not a big fan of Flynns team either, Benson went way too high and he will have to account for Bob Sanders' injury and Charles Woodson's age in the defensive backfield. Seymour looks really old all of a sudden. I like the O-line, but I think that's an offense that can be stopped. As much as I hate to say it because I like the guy, I don't love MSU's team either. Aside from the injuries to his defense, it looks as if Jared Allen has lost a step and is anyone really scared of Rashard Mendenhall and Dwayne Bowe as two of your primary offensive targets? I will say that he's set at QB gor the forseeable future, however. Ryan would be my choice as the first QB gone after the first five "elite" QBs
  3. Now that were more than halfway through this thing, I'll offer up my thoughts on the three best and worst teams as presently constructed (excluding my own, of course) Best: I really like WhiskeyBreath's team as it is currently constructed - a winning QB, two complete mismatches athletically at the WR position, and real sound defense up the middle with guys like Dockett, Ellis, Suggs, and Maulaga. Solid defensive backfield, but I am a bit concerned on how the O-line will fill out. I like the fact that Yankees228 has built a championship level defense to this point without sacrificing offensive talent. The offensive and defensive lines are solid and Rodgers has some nice weapons to go after. I think this team can contend for a championship for the next five years. I love YH213's defense, I think it's the beat singular unit of anyone's drafted team to this point. Some questions on offense but there's a lot of talent. They won't hav to be great to wins games with that D, but if Greene and Sims-Walker improve, they'll be dangerous.
  4. Dwayne Bowe is a pretty terrible receiver, I can think of at least 5 guys I'd take before him.
  5. Since Brady is my QB, what better center to take than Dan Koppen
  6. It's finally time for the BP Spillers to select a running back. Were more than halfway through this draft and I think I'm one of three teams without one, so I'm going to take the back I think is the best available from not only a running standpoint, but receiving out of the backfield as well. This guy has put up over 1,200 yards from scrimmage each of his first two seasons and with the weapons surrounding him he should find plenty of space to operate within. Matt Forte, RB
  7. Ital, you have authority to make those decisions. I'm comfortable with lowering MSUs window to four hours until he makes his picks up.
  8. Umm, Moss was still on the team Monday night so I'm not sure what your point is.
  9. You're kidding, right? Saying that its OK to let Moss go because "they won all of their Super Bowls without Moss"? Better re-sign Troy Brown for that open roster spot, then.
  10. Weren't you one of the posters ripping the FO for trading Manny in 2008?
  11. I know, that was my point. revis cant really say crap about Moss in that game because he took himself out. Yet now, his word is gold?
  12. Were at the point where we take Darelle Revis's word as gospel here? You know who else took the foot of the brakes in that game? Darelle Revis. I can't believe the rationalization some Pats fans have here. If you honestly think the Pats are a better team today than they were Monday night, you're delusional. I can see the "making the best of a bad situation" argument but if that's the case you concede Belichick isn't the personnel master he's cracked up to be.
  13. There's three players I'm looking at with this pick. I'm taking a gamble here because I'm pretty sure the guy I REALLY want wont make it back to me but I've been screwed with not taking the lineman I want three times in the draft so far. I'm going to take Jake Scott, LG and pray the guys I want fall back to me.
  14. Is this post serious? Randy Moss made the defense play poorly?
  15. Pats fans cant have it both ways - you can't say that Belichick is a genius and a great coach for being able to turn around "head cases" (hello Corey Dillon) and then in the same breath laud him for shipping Moss out of town for nothing . NOTHING. I know the 3rd is a 2011 instead of a 2012 but the compensation would be the same if he left via FA. For a Pats team that has two firsts, two seconds, and two fourths in the next draft, you cant tell Me the extra third is worth 12+ more games of Randy Moss. It's an argument you can't make unless you're drunk off the BB kool-aid
  16. I'll take Chris Long, DE Big motor and he's got the pedigree to be a great player
  17. I hate hate hate when Pate fans use the "we won Super Bowls" wiu Patten/Btown/Branch as our #1 WR....you did that when you had five or six HoF caliber players on defense. How anyone can justify this as a good move long or short term for the Pats is mind boggling. The Pats would receive the same compensation (a 3rd) if he left via FA.
  18. Thanks duder. I really like the way your team is shaping up as well. Not a lot of "names" on defense, but I really think that's a top 5 unit so far. If Greene develops, you have two excellent weapons on offense.
  19. Ask Wes Welker and Tom Brady how psyched they are about this. Bad move.
  20. Just a couple criticisms: Not enough Lowe Not enough Foulke (he had as mug screen time as Curtis F'n Leskanic) No Bellhorn HR in Game 7, which quelled all the fears after Pedro came back out Not enough Mueller
  21. I'd be interested in hearing which team it is too.
