  1. Poor Tony; for a guy i really respect, this has got to suck. To go from the bottom to boston and now back has got to be hard! Especially given the fact that he didn't do anything to deserve it, just a part of the business!
  2. This is the first i have heard of it. I thought that the sox would wait until the end of the season to do so. I believe he still has a club option for next year! If this is truly weighing on him, then let's get it done. We all know we are going to do it, so let's get it done!
  3. I have NESN, but i am not local anymore. (my local sports is comcast out of baltimore:rant: -- and they suck) So i order the sports package which includes NESN, and the MLB extra innings. Two years ago everygame (with the exception of fox saturday) was on NESN--last year however NESN was blacked out for the away games and i had to watch them on the hometeams's channel. It really makes you appreciate remy and orsillo!
  4. Ya--He may be right, i mean Japan is known for their power hitters:rolleyes:
  5. A question: for those of us who have MLB extra innings (i have directv) are they going to do the "home team get's the broadcast" crap again this year? Last year was the first year and it really sucked having to listen to some really stupid and bad announcers. (cue baltimore, Tampa Bay, and the whitesox). I would hope that they would make it available on both networks instead of blacking one out.
  6. There should be a huge timer on the front page counting down to opening day. Just a thought:D
  7. I think the main problem with the begining of this thread is that you were so vague in your opening! -Now; as much as i liked Millar, youk will be an upgrade "on the field" (we all know about the majority of Millar's upside being off the field). -Loretta is an upgrade over graff both on O and D if he stays healthy. -A-Gone is an upgrade (huge upgrade) over rent-a-wreck in the field. Ya we will lose some at the plate (which we all wish we could have) but I for one am happy becuase i will go through a lot less remotes. i won't have to throw them accross the room everytime rent-a-wrech makes a critical error! -As far as lowell goes, i still wish we had mueller. However i know we had to take him to get beckett (and beckett looks great). However if lowell sucks the first few months of the season, i can see them dropping him and moving youk back to 3rd. Why else would we be stocking up on 1st basemen!
  8. If Lowell turns out to be done ( which it's looking like now - let's hope i am wrong) then i think they move youk back over to 3rd and have choi (or pick up pena) pick up time at first (if they don't trade for anyone). I just don't see Graff playing 3rd on a regular basis---although i would love to see him stay!
  9. This is weird, i can't find the highlights anywhere! Sportsdesk shows footage of the whole game up until that point and then just still shots--what gives? I wonder if MLB stepped in and won't let the clips be shown, like if a moron goes running accross the field during the game!
  10. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/gallery/03_27_06_sox_rays?pg=5 I can see Tavarez getting a number of games for this; so that MLB can show everyone that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. I gotta check around tonight and see if i can get some film of the incident!
  11. This is going to be a fun season to watch! Hopefully there will be some film of it tonight somewhere--mabey on sportsdesk!
  12. Caught this about yesterday's "near fight" http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=132336&format=&page=1 thought this quote was interesting: Good to know if we get into another altercation with the yanks this year!
  13. Beckett looked good today! I really like the emotion that this guy brings to the club---just wait till we play the yanks later in the season at fenway! Lowell still looks really slow to me, let's hope something changes. Stern is doing everything that is asked of him and more---it's going to be tough to see him sent down with everything that he has done! What are the odds of Stern replacing trot after this year and platooning with Pena (depending on how he pans out) Opening day is coming, just not soon enough!
  14. I was glad to see Payton gone!
  15. You will be missed Tony! You play the game the right way, and i wish we could keep you here!
  16. Let's not forget that in that infamous game in 04 with the fight---it was mueller that hit the game winning home-run that kind of set off the run!
  17. I could be wrong, but i believe it is team policy to not allow "no-trade policy's" in contracts! If they could i am sure that bronson would have asked for one, he will be missed though!
  18. Nice cheap shot:rolleyes: Look back through ST; Bronson was getting hit hard until Tek came back from the WBC---then he threw shut-out ball!
  19. Well said. I want Bronson to do great, nothing but the best. With that said I hope Pena turns into another Tizzle:D
  20. I think that Hansen has a huge possbile upside; however i think people forget that he was in college last year at this time. I think that if we give him time to develop and not rush him then he will be great one day. Delcarmen was always in A ball and then last year made the jump to AAA--he may be ready for the bigs a little sooner than hansen. Of course it's nice to have this problem with quality guys in our system!
  21. Foulke looked pretty good today. he got out of the inning on 13 pitches which is the same as yesterday (except he struck out the side yesterday). He looked comfortable out there, which seemed to be a big improvement! Youk played 3rd today with Snow at first. (interesting) Choi came in later and went 0-1 with a groundout to 1st. Wake had a good day, just made a couple bad pitches that ended up as homeruns. In the postgame, he said he feels real comfortable with Bard and that Bard has worked really hard getting ready to catch him. Delcarmen pitched 2 scoreless innings and looked really sharp! Getting closer to opening day!
  22. Seems to be the trend with Bronson without Tek behind the plate!
  23. I caught the end of today's game on NESN and they had Youk playing 3rd today with Snow starting at 1st and Choi coming in later. (he went 0-1 with a groundout) As far as Marte goes, i can see the Guardians dumping boone at the first sign of trouble this year!
  24. Well said! He played the hot corner in a tough infield and never got the recognition that he deserved. I hope i am wrong, but i have a feeling we will be missing "the pro" more throughout the course of the season! Good Luck Bill, you deserve the best!
  25. Ok, when i posted first on the subject--all i was saying was that i had cold pizza on one day and they were talking about the book, and that Selig could throw bonds and sheff out of baseball if it was "in the best interest of the game". Then after another comment i posted: (he was actually referring to sheff there) Now i didn't read either canseco's book or "game of shadows". I was merely commenting on what i heard on the show that morning, and what their thoughts were. I didn't know if Giambi was using roids in oakland, i suspected he was, but on the show they said he wasn't and that he didn't start until he got hooked up with Greg anderson. Then you post this: I don't believe (or take as proof) what is in his book--you didn't say that he admitted it in the grand jury--if he did i was unaware of it at the time of the post. I responded saying that canseco's book is not proof, and that everything i mentioned was from the book "game of shadow" which was using the court documents--just sticking to what could be proved in a court of law! and when i state that you say: Completely ignoring what i had just said--that i was just stating what i knew to be true from verified sources! After this of course you went into your "i wanted your opinion, he already admitted it under grand jury (which you haven't mentioned until now), your doing this cause you hate the yankees" posts. If you look back i originally started this using bonds and sheff--somehow Giambi gets brought up, you take it and run with it, and we end up here. From the beggining my post was just stating on what i had heard and that "according to cold pizza" selig could kick bonds and sheff out "in the best interest in baseball". I understand your need to point out that giambi was using before he came to NY, and that's fine. Sorry if i offended you with the "yankers" comments. My best friend is a NY fan, and we always banter back and forth, and i started doing that a long time ago. Sorry, i didn't realize that something like that would get under your skin so bad!
