  1. ESPN has missed the boat on this one. What was really stupid is how they do that with the USA games as well as the others. Between the tiebreakers that you need a slide rule for, and BSPN's coverage---it's been a little sketchy, learn from your mistakes guys and get better!
  2. No USA wins and goes on--lose and go home!
  3. Well I would love to be having this discussion at the end of October this year!
  4. I will give lowell a pass on his bat for now---but what i won't do is give him a pass on his defense. He just looks really slow out there; when he get's to the ball he's great, but i am wishing that "the pro" was still rocking 3rd for us!
  5. Congrats Tito, glad to see you will be sticking around a little longer! Now fill up those fingers with rings!
  6. Theo: please trade wells, we don't need him! We have the depth, so i would rather trade him and get some value for him now--than deal with this kind of crap all year!
  7. Oh ya, once i saw the USA guys flailing at pitches by BK Kim that were 2 feet out of the strikezone, i knew we were in trouble!
  8. ya i stayed up to watch it---after it was 6-1 i just checked the score on ESPNEWS and went to bed---no need to waste anymore time while the usa gets beaten down by the koreans!
  9. Funny, I thought the whole purpose of spring training was to practice what you want so you can get ready for the season. You know, work on what you want to get better at? Nice try, but that's apples and oranges. The purpose of a murder is to hit them with the bullet---shill's purpose was not to hit the guy, but to back him off the plate! But that was a nice shot at comparing a shill to a murderer:rolleyes:
  10. Look the point is that shill hit a guy in the head! We all know that Shill threw it, what is there to take responsibility for? He was merely pointing out that he threw a pitch that the batter should have gotten out of the way of. What do you want shill to do, applogize becuase the guy got hit?
  11. Here is a link from the herald talking about this very thing! http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=130202&format=&page=1
  12. Yes their is evidance. Back in 04 when they were down 3-0 Millar was the guy walking around talking to the camera's and players saying things like: "don't let us win tonight, we win tonight and then it's pedro and shill--and anything can happen in game 7" I remember hearing at least 3 players in interviews (after the alcs) say that after game 3 alot of players were down and looked defeated. However Millar wouldn't let anyone get down on themselves and kept saying-win tonight and the rest will take care of itself. Those players credited his attitude as a huge part of the reason they were able to come back and beat the yankers. and of course he walked which put dave roberts in position to steal, score and make history!
  13. Belli coming back to boston? http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=130265
  14. Wow, I just turned on the DR/Cuba game to see what was up and it was only on for a minute or so before Papi hit one that still hasn't landed!!!! It was a bomb that left the entire stadium! After he hit it, he turned around and gave a dirty look to the Cuban catcher, and then the catcher started yelling at the pitcher. The announcers said something like papi was thinking "you don't forget who your playing here!" Anyway it's 6-0 DR!
  15. Well that wild and crazy clubhouse with him won it all in 04! I want the clubhouse that leads us to another ring! My point was that Millar brings a lot of intangibles that don't show up in the box score---and the players are always quick to point that out. I guess a good comparison would be rizzo from the 80 USA hockey team---clearly not the best player, but has those qualitities that helps the other guys play at their best!
  16. I hear what you are saying, and Papi isn't even there right now! I did notice though that orsillo and remy have mentioned several times that the whole "mood" of the clubhouse of the sox changed when Millar was in town with the o's. Everyone seemed to be having fun again---whereas now their are good guys in there, but it's more of a quiet, professional clubhouse. I guess i just really liked the last few years teams attitude, and don't want the sox to turn into a yanker like clubhouse!
  17. Exactly. I also was impressed with the fact that he put up some good numbers while he was in the middle of a Boston/pawsox bustrip. it seemed like every few days he was being shipped somewhere--and during all of that he still did very well. I think once you give him a chance to be comfortable in a day to day role, he will shine. At least the upside is there in my opinion, and he deserves the chance to be an everyday player!
  18. I would rather have millar becuase i think be brought more to the team than is in the box score. Everytime i turn on NESN and hear about the sox, i hear how quiet it is there now and that everyone misses millar. (yesterday remy said the he was a profesional noisemaker) I think millar brought a lot of clubhouse qualities that we as fans didn't notice as much--it is widely known how a lot of the players credit millar with the attitude during the 04 alcs when they were down 3-0: millar was the guy who kept their spirits up and kept them focussed with his antics. I also believe that he would have come back and had a better year this year (that is speculation of course). anyway those are my thoughts, i really liked the guy and i think that he took a lot of the heat off of manny and co (the people that didn't like talking to the media)--things like that will be missed this year!
  19. It is widely known that shill plays the game it is meant to be played, and he will also speak his mind. They both know that shill wasn't trying to hit him--and if iti got away and was an accident shill would take responsibility. He thinks that he should have been able to get out of the way, are your saying he's wrong? Being right about something doesn't mean your classless!
  20. If for some reason i came accross differently, then i appologize. What i was trying to say was that Youks numbers don't look good (if you only read the box score); but he has been hitting the crap out of the ball--just right at people for outs! I think we will be fine with youk at 1st. (we def don't want snow taking all the AB's) I would have prefered to keep Millar (but that's another thread alltogether)! I think Youk will put up some good numbers when he get's some consistant AB's. The real question here is how well will he make the defensive transition to 1st!
  21. Ohh, well you should be happy then cause it's over! We'll see if the DR can rebound!
  22. I am not watching the game, what do you mean?
  23. Just for clarity! I said before that Youk looks good. he does; his numbers don't show it but he looks good. I think he is something like 2 for 13 so far (2 run homer today). Even though the numbers don't show it, everything he has hit has been a laser--he has just hit them right at people!
  24. Nice try, but i was quoting you. -- i didn't make anything up! I understand what you said, but the guys playing in the WBC doesn't mean it has a negative impact on their "bonding" with their teams. I never said that you couldn't post here. I was merely pointing out that everything you have said recently in this thread was negative towards the WBC. We get the fact that you don't like it, and that's your opinion and you are entitled to it! There are some of us who do like it and would like to discuss it. and i quote: In my opinion, that is crap! Of course it is my opinion, and that is what we do on this board--give our opinion!
  25. That's a great point. When Nomar came back the bar was set prety high in the field as pokey had been throwing around some serious leather. So when we finally saw Nomar it was such a drastic change from what we were used to. One thing I loved about Pokey is how effortless he made plays look--he was real smooth! (at least on defense:D )
