  1. If you wanted my opinion on whether or not he did them before he was a yanker, then ask me that! Instead you put up some lame joke, and then try to cover it when called on it. I won't repost everything again--go back and read it: There is no "BS opinion" I was just stating the facts as i knew them. ( which i have now said numerous times) I never gave my opinion, only what i heard about the "game of shadows" book. I haven't read the book (which i stated earlier), but have heard quite a lot about it. All i said was that in the book (as i heard) Giambi went out west and hooked up with bonds trainer to see how he kept bonds "playing at such a high level". That was after he signed with the yankers. I never heard anything in the book that said he took them before hand (which apparently he did), so i was sticking to the facts as i heard them. This is not some witch hunt, yankee hater, post--i was just listing the facts as i knew them, not my opinion. Ok for the 5th time, i never said it was my theory-i was stating the facts as i knew them--which i said when i posted them. Why don't you stop playing the "everyone hates me cause i'm a yankees fan, and you only hate Giambi becuase he's on the yankees" card and stick to the facts of the thread--you can go back and read them. I really could care less when or with what team he did them; he did them and that's my problem. I also respect him for coming clean unlike sheff and bonds--he did and took the heat for it. What really bothers me is that babe ruth is about to be passed by a cheater! (i don't expect you to defend bonds though cause he's not playing for the yankees) If you can stick to the facts, then we will get along fine----i don't care who someone plays for; if they cheat then they should be gone! (i won't even bring up game 7 of the 03 alcs, and the 2 homers giambi hit while he was juiced up--that's another thread all together)
  2. Good news about Foulke----let's hope it keeps getting better for him! That would make all of our lives a lot less stressful!
  3. Way to go smartguy! At least read the my post before sounding off. Just in case you missed it, here it is again: I will explain it to you as well. My argument was based on actual facts, i.e. the evidence that the prosecutors collected on them. I was not basing it on hearsay which is what canseco's book is--it is his recount of the incidents and is his word against everyone else. Now with that said I believe he had probably tried them before he was a member of the yankers, but there is no proof to substantiate that. What either of us believe is our opinion and is not based on fact! I am sure that Giambi used before, but the only proof on the table shows his use once he became a yanker!
  4. That's still a long time!
  5. I agree! Let's get on with the season already!
  6. He's still there, but with the Pena pick up--he becomes obsolete. I also don't think he is even in the same league as Stern. The only thing he had on Stern was the fact that he batted righty! If Stern batted righty, then i believe he would have platooned with trot (if not for the willy mo pick up) Anyone know anything about Kapler?
  7. Negative Ghostrider; according to the book the government collected several things on him including a schedule of his "roid use". (when and what he is using) From what i have heard this is untrue. It is also why they are considering purgery charges against him--they believe they have they evidence saying that he knew, and he testified he didn't know. At the end of the day the only guy i can feel for (not much howeve) is Giambi. He screwed up and did damage to the game (reference game 7 of the 03 alcs) but at least the guy had the guts to sack up and tell the truth. He did and faced the consequences, and he's come through it! Bonds and Sheffield are both guilty, and they lied in court about it! They deserve everything they get.
  8. I was using the verified proof as my argument. Giambi may have been on roids during his A's stint; however Canseco's book (that is very damning) is done without any proof to back it up--just his word! Now the other book "game of shadows" uses nothing but "proof" ( court documents, government collected evidence, grand jury testimony, ect..." ) Going from the "proof" standpoint the book "game of shadows" says (from everything i have heard, i have not read it) that Giambi got hooked up with Balco becuase he went out there to see what greg anderson was doing to "keep bonds playing at such a high level". We have no idea if he was on roids before the yankers, but we do know that he was on them as a member of the yankers!
  9. What exactly is needed for proof then? These are all confirmed sources form the government, and testimony given under oath during the balco scandal! In regard to Giambi, on Cold Pizza this AM they were referencing the book and said that apparently Giambi really got rolling on the roids that winder becuase his dad was such a fan of the game and a perfectionist--he wanted to do well for him!
  10. I wouldn't cut them now. I would send the young guns back down to AAA and let them get a lot of work in the first half of the season. Then if need be we can bring them back up later in the season and they will prob have a lot for confidence. They will also be able to work on their stuff a little more without the scrutiny of the boston media looking at their every outing. I think we will see Manny and hansen up this year, but not till later in the season!
  11. I don't think so. however i didn't watch the whole game--i flipped around a bit after the 7th! I thought he looked real slow, especially his bat! He had one good at bat that i remember where he drove the ball to rightcenter. It just looked like he knew he couldn't get around on the fastball quick enough so he took it the other way. I don't think that turned into a double, but i could be wrong!
  12. are you referencing Sheff or Giambi with this? Just wondering becuase this book also says that Giambi never took roids as part of the A's, didn't start until he was signed by the yankers!
  13. Well i work from home so i usually keep something on while at the computer. NESN or FSNE didn't have anything so i threw that on. I am not local anymore so NESN and FSNE are the extent of my local influence unless i listen to WEEI online. Anyway cold pizza is pretty useless 99% of the time, but i was hoping to catch some AV stuff---of course they would rather show 2 hours of bracketology:wtf: Anyway my point about raffy was that MLB suspended him, and then after that no one wanted him. MLB suspended him as part of the roids policy, they can't do that to sheff and bonds becuase they didn't test positive. However they could ban them for what they believe to be in the best interest of the game. I don't know what info they have on Giambi, however the info sheff and bonds is pretty damning and is coming from a credible source---so while they have not tested positive, they still have done damage to the game. That was the argument that cold pizza was making!
  14. I had cold pizza on in the background this am and they were discussing this. They made a pretty good argument for getting Bonds and possibly Sheff out of the game. Raffy falls under the steroid policy because he tested positive. However, with all the new evidence that has come out and been made public. (the majority being the evidence from the government that had been collected). There is also a chance that the government could come in and prosecute bonds and sheff for perjury--if that happened if would give selig a clear way to ban them!
  15. I am not opposed to dumping gonzo and using cora at short. I think he has a comparable glove and a slight upgrade at the plate. We could keep machado for the utility guy. There is talk of keeping machado up at the beggining of the season anyway---he's looked real good so far in ST!
  16. Paps looked good last night. He didn't have hid good stuff (not by a long shot) and he battled through it and only gave up 2 runs (leaving with the lead) against the potential opening day roster for the yankers. (sub a hurt posada for stinnett) On a side note; lowell looked like he was playing underwater both on D and at the plate. If it doesn't get better we should suck up the $9mil and move youk back to 3rd---and try something else at 1st!
  17. One thing i thought was interesting last night was the fact that we played so well with our "B" team. The line-up that we faced was the line-up that will be there on opening day (sub posada for stinnett----posada has a fractured nasal passage) and we held them down until Riske came in the game, and even then we only lost by 1. The line-up that we put out there was minus papi, crisp, nixon, loretta, youk, tek, from our potential opening day line-up. Remmy also mentioned that tito said the sox would carry 11 pitchers (no need for 12 at the beggining with the amount of off days) and that they were thinking of keeping machado up with the club---they really like what they have seen so far. (and that dude can fly) I really like what i have seen from crisp; however it will be tough to see Stern be sent down at some point----he's fun to watch play!
  18. McCarty's a good pick-up! I look forward to what he will bring, and am glad he stuck around!
  19. I am calling Yankee Stadium a Toilet----OneRedSeat got it right!
  20. I saw his postgame press confence (parts of it) on NESN today; and he is still taking shots at the sox! He keeps saying he's very unhappy, and there's nothing he can do. "you can't fight city hall". He also talked about the Bronson trade: talked about when Theo walked in Wells said: "theo, you traded the wrong guy, i asked to be traded". Please get this guy out of here!
  21. Thanks for everything Bronson! You will always live in our memories for 04, and nothing will every change that!
  22. That is true to a point; there are bandwagon fans on both sides. I remember after 04 there were fans that i didn't even know existed coming out everywhere---and that's fine they are still fans. However i have never seen more bandwagon fans than yanker fans--and alot of that has to do with the fact that they won a lot throughout the 90's, coupled with the media's love affair with them! My best friend is a yanker fan (grew up in NJ) and he will be the first to admit that there are way too many yanker bandwagon fans. I can always tell a diehard sox fan when i meet them though:D
  23. I believe the sox had put a deadline for thier deal and it had already passed. ( i may be wrong though). This is all theory of course, but i still believe he wanted to stay and thought the sox would come up from their initial offer of 4/40. The sox are on record as saying their ceiling for JD was 4/44 and if they offererd that then i think he would have taken it. I still think that yankers did a good job of putting that 4 hour window on the deal----he didn't know what to do and couldn't think strait and made a rash decision based on what was in front of his face. Let's also not forget that Boras is his agent and i am sure he was telling him to take the deal!
  24. If he pans out and we still have Manny and Tizzle at that time---then ya that would be a Maalox moment for the pitcher when he hits the 3-4-5 part of the line-up! I know he is young, but I have hope that getting him time with his new best friend "papa jack" will have a huge impact on him this year!
  25. I still believe that the yankers made a great FO move! They knew of the one offer from the sox and then gave JD that huge offer, but told him he had 4 hours to accept it or it was off the table! JD couldn't get a hold of the sox FO to see what their final offer would be, and with the whole team basically being changed in the offseason he thought they prob didn't want him that much--so in the spur of the moment took what seemed like (and was $$$$ wise) the best offer. It has really seemed since then, that he has been trying to convince himself that he did the right thing. I remember hearing this from one of the players a while ago, but don't remember who. (mueller mabey?) With all his subsequent comments it really seems to reinforce that theory. I truly still believe that if the yankers wouldn't have put that "window" on the offer and he had time to talk to the sox, that he would have signed for less! Oh well, enjoy the toilet Johnny!
