  1. Ya-i had a friend growing up who was diagnosed with ADD and when he was on the meds he was def better. I just wonder what the cuase was---instead of treating the problem let's find out what caused it and fix that. I forget what i heard, it could have been ADD, ADHD, or ALS (or all three) but they were pointing out the fact that there is no medical evidence needed to diagnose these conditions-----------everything was "at the discretion of the doctor". So if that's the case, all you need is a doctor in the pocket of a drug company to start the snowball rolling. I am not trying to drum up a conspiacy theory---just pointing out interesting things i heard!
  2. I agree with you to a point--i am still on the fence i guess as to whether or not ADD is just a bogus take to get more kids hopped up on drugs. I think it that the world today (our country anyway) doesn't like to dicipline their kids (whether in school or at home) and ADD is a quick fix so they don't have to deal with the real issue. My uncle works as a teacher and has for quite a while---and he thinks ADD is bogus. He says that teachers (especially women) can't control the students (mostly boys) and that they just send them to the nurse or whoever and tell them they are out of control and need to be doped up. My uncle has those same kids and has no problems with them--------it's more a copout than anything else. Now there may be a genuine problem with a few people (i am still out on that though), but this IMHO is true for the vast majority!
  3. This is of course my opinion, but i do believe that the pc has been overblown in recent years. The problem is not with people being insensative---it's with people being too sensative and looking for something to be upset about. There is a reason that you would imply that irish drink, or italians are mobsters, or that asian people run drycleaners-----that's becuase there has been a precedent set for that--ie there is a reason that everyone associates those different people groups with those things. In the same respect I rock climb, camp, work for adventure races, mt bike, ect... and a lot of people will hear that and think that i am a hippie (which couldn't be further from the truth). Instead of getting upset and pissed about it--i could care less what people think. If i get the chance then i will educate them---but i don't run my life around how other ill-informed people think about me. We all know that all asians don't run drycleaners, irish drink, and italians mobsters-----but instead of everyone getting upset and making a stink out of it---and an issue where there isn't one. We can take the time to educate people and go on with our lives. There is a big difference between someone associating asians with drycleaners, and someone being racist-----------let's not blur the line!
  4. I think that is one of the reasons why people are so willing to give up on foulke so quickly. They don't remember him blowing people away or anything like that. Me personally i could care less how a guy does it--i just want to get the side out without any damage! I remember what Foulke did for us and how when he came into the game back in 04 I knew it was over. So i am willing to give him the befefit of the doubt, and let him see if he can get back to that form after so long off. If he can get back there then the sox will be gret this year---i love paps but his future is not as a closer!
  5. Yes i know that, but he was referring to 04--so that's why i made the comment. I am not trying to justify what happened after that, just that he was the man when we needed him to be.
  6. Did you even watch the 04 postseason? Foulke carried this team on his back and was lights out every time we needed him to be! I understand what you mean with your 90+ fastball---but that's not him and never has been!
  7. Well said--let's not lump all sterotypes together!
  8. I don't even know where to start. Mo was much bigger than Ortiz to begin with. He also played every day. Now even if we accept your argument, Ortiz will be near 40 by time he has problems, and the sox extending him how for 5 years or so doesn't change that. I know you want the yanks to sign him and all--but come on!
  9. I think you got it exactly right. I never got the impression from listening to Tito that Foulke was done as a closer. He said that he's not 100% yet, and he needs to get there before he can become the reg closer again. Foulke even said in a postgame interview that he needs to get back (he feels strong, just working on polishing up his game) and when he does and can compete to earn the closer's spot back. I have a feeling that once Foulke (and we all pray he get's back) get's back then it frees up paps to do other bullpen stuff and possibly start if an injury or trade arise.
  10. No joke! I thought that it was great to see how into beckett's game shilling was! When Beckett got that K in the 7th to end his outing shill was yelling and just as exited for beckett as he was! Great to see:thumbsup:
  11. Update: Saw an extended interview with Foulke on Sportsdesk after the game and he said: -As long as we win, that's all that matters -Tito told me i could be throwing the ball better, i am good, but paps is great right now -I need to get my stuff together and polish my game and then try and earn the closer role back -Whatever is best for the team is what i want pretty good stuff and a good attitude-------let's hope he can pull it together this year!
  12. I know it's early in the season and the bats generally come on a little later than the pitching---with that said however it was a little concerning seeing the sox go back to back nights with pathetic AB's! I am not panicking and it's still real early---just wish it was a little better!
  13. Tito was just on NESN and basically said that he was not comfortable putting a less than 100% foulke in a meaningful game. Paps is throwing better or as good as anyone right now and he needs to be the guy in that situation. However Tito did say he expected Foulke to be great this year and i got the feeling that once he get's his legs back and feels good--he will be the man! I think they will need him to be becauase i have a feeling that Paps will be needed in the rotation!
  14. Foulke just on the "extra innings" on NESN and sounded like he had a great attitude. Basically said i am here as a member of the team to win a WS! I don't go out and tell people that i am the closer--i am a member of the team. Also said he is getting better and stronger---so i have a feeling when the time is right, he will be back!
  15. Ya the chisox announcers are just terrible! I think one of them is named "hawk". I can't stand the "he gone" for a strikeout or the in unison "yeeessss" for a homerun. Watching those guys takes a lot of fun out of baseball!
  16. I think you got it exactly right. Foulke is our closer and paps is there in case we need him and to be a starter if someone get's traded or injured. If we have more than a 1 run lead in baltimore he will be out there--once he can prove that he's got his stuff back and his legs underhim then he will be the man!
  17. I actually thought that there coverage was ok. Not great, but ok. There have been much worse out there----just wait till you see baltimore, they completely suck and i have to watch them for the sox home games too cause they are local to me!
  18. What are you talking about? Bard caught wake all spring except for the first game. (which was a complete disaster and made flahrety retire rather than catch him again) He has looked good and wake said he's comfortable with him----it's one game people, let it go!
  19. I agree; it's just the typical crap panic after a bad game! These are prob the same people the day before saying shill would win 30 games and the sox are def going to win the WS! 162 games folks!
  20. Ya i think it was a smart move---he just didn't get the results that he wanted. We couldn't hit and they couldn't stop hitting. I think beckett will come out and do well tonight. Honestly what i most want to see is some great plays by gonzo tonight; i keep hearing about how fantastic he is and i haven't seen it yet. (not that he isn't--it's just all the games i have seen have not given him the opportunity to shine)
  21. From everything that i have heard there were no derogatory remarks made. ESPN wanted a story and made one here , where there wasn't one. The problem isn't clemens; the problem are these moron's who look for any little tidbit to try and invoke race into. Relax people and stop trying to make an issue out of nothing!
  22. Exactly, let's give Bard some time to adjust---it was his first game catching wake!
  23. Ya i am ready for becket's debut. I was only able to catch a couple innings of him in ST, so i am interested to see him pitch!
  24. Actually Tito said in an interview on sunday i think that the reason he was pitching wake #2 was to not let the rangers hitters see 2 power pitchers back to back---trying to throw them off a bit!
