  1. Not sure this warrented a new thread, but here goes: Can we please just send the fatman packing!!!!!! I saw an interview with him on NESN where all he talked about was what a great honor it was to pitch for the yankees and how it was the best time in his life. Everytime he got a chance he brought up the yanks, even saying how he was surprised that he signed with the sox since he's always on the other side of the rivalry. ( i bet that booing at the toilet last year really hurt him:rolleyes: ) Now today we hear that wells is appologizing to selig for the comments about the yanks WBC sign. (the we are sorry all are stars are at the WBS one) . He obviously still has yanks on the brain---and he sucks------------------dump him! Ok end of rant!
  2. Happy B-day----let's hope they get you a nice present:D
  3. Ya I just want to get stern ab's; whether it's in boston or in Pawtucket---doesn't matter to me! He has a bright future, let's not sit him on the bench. I think that harris will be up soon as well, seems like a good utility guy to have around!
  4. I think that if hansen comes up this year you hit the nail on the head! Hansen won't ever be a starter--he was made to be a closer but the sox don't want to rush him. And as i have stated the past I think our best chance is to have Foulke as the starter and whoever setting it up for him. We may see paps in the rotation and then when playoffs come he will go back and set up for foulke (provided foulke has regained his form). The whole key though is foulke regaining his form!
  5. I don't remember where i heard that. However what is weird is that i think it was from MLB 2k5 for xbox. I don't play xbox that much but got the game after the sox won the series. (ironic that jeter was on the cover:rolleyes: ) Anyway i think that one of the commentary's from harold renyolds (i think) during the game that explained it.
  6. We need to pick one of them to stick with. Both Stern and Mohr get exponentially better with more constant ab's (look how hot stern was until he sat while we faced lefty's) I think that if coco was healthy stern would be in AAA getting everyday experience becuase that's what he needs and i think he has a much bigger future here than Mohr.
  7. Also: nixon should be back in the lineup tonight so that should be great. I am expecting something like Youk Loretta Papi Manram Nixon Tek Lowell Stern Gonzo Should be a good game, and let's hope shill goes 4-0!~!!!!!!!!
  8. Ya I think tampa can do more damage than people realize---hopefully to the yanks, o's, jay's:D We have done well against them in the past, but they are better this year---better than i think i have ever seen them--at least potentially. I think the changing of manager(more importantly getting rid of the overated Lou) has done the team a world of good mentally!
  9. I have been a member over at patsfans for a long time--def the best pats site on the net. That's actually how i found out about talksox!
  10. He was talking about the ball that the TB right fielder missed in the 8th (i think) off of manny's bat. The guy was playing real shallow on a 3-2 count with manny at the plate and he got burned--manny drove it and he couldn't get back quick enough and it went off his glove allowing runs to score! Eck said that if he was playing a normal right field that ball would have been a can of corn! Now if memory serves me correctly (and please correct me if i am wrong) the can of corn comment has something to do with in the old days when a shopkeeper would need to get a "can of corn" off the top shelf they would hit it with a broom and then it would come strait at them and they would catch it. Big leaguer's called balls hit right at them a "can of corn" Any questions?
  11. Nothing sticks out to me! I could be wrong but i don't remember anything bad for him in the field tonight!
  12. -Great game tonight!!! Clement pitched well and i would have still left him in there for one more batter in the 8th. I think Tito wanted to (his pitch count wasn't yet 100) but the long wait must have had an affect on clement and tito's decision to lift him. I love Timlin, but why bring him in with a guy on---that's asking for trouble. Paps struggled a little, but battled through and came out on top. Clement deserved the win tonight though! -Youk looked awesome and should only get better with constant ab's! The weird thing is that i don't think snow is that much of an upgrade defensivly late in the game. It's not like when Millar was in there and they would go to eyechart at the end of the game--that was a vast difference! -Pena looked good and took a lot of pitches-the work with papa jack and ortiz is paying off it looks like. Everyone else in the lineup looked good, although i don't think i would have had stern bunt in that situation! -Nice to see manny starting to look like manny. He is getting better but not there yet, still dropping his head on some pitches where he normally wouldn't, but def getting a lot better -That was a ballsy play by stern to end the game-----if he misses and it get's by him the game is tied with the go-ahead run in scoring position. However he made a great catch and deserves the credit! Great win and Shill's tommorow!
  13. I agree. he is making great improvments---but he is not back to being manny yet!
  14. I almost never agree with the rivinator--however i think what he meant was that it's kind of dumb to assume that it's 2-2.5 weeks based on the fact that "he heals quickly" He may heal quicker than someone else with the same injury--but we don't really know the extent of the injury yet. he may heal quickly, but you can't put a timetable on it!
  15. Hansen is a closer and will assume that role when he is ready. He has already been tabbed as "having big league stuff" however needing time in the minor's to work on his game. Paps will be a starter, and i think is better suited for that. If Foulke can pull it together this year (and i have faith he will) we may see paps stretched out to be our #5 guy if we don't get clemens!
  16. I don't either. In fact i think if Pena had more options; then they would option him and make kapler the back up/platoon guy with trot. Howver since that is not the case, i have no idea what the future holds for kapler when healthy!
  17. No he didn't. However when he was called upon to do them he did them, and did them very well. All i am saying is that it's not abnormal for tito to ask him to do such; especially now that he's trying to get him work in "non-one run closing situations"
  18. Ksushi and Seabeachfred; you both make excellant points. He has looked a lot better recently with the bat, at least he's looked a lot more patient. I would hope down the line that he is able to get more starts on the road with a more conventional right field. (the fens is a tough right to play, and nixon's play there has been overlooked in my opinion) He will most likely get a start tonight, giving trot a rest since it's a lefty. Let's hope that the benefit of playing a night game at fenway will help him see the ball better off the bat!
  19. I agree that our team will never look like that. One person i would add though is stern. They have kept him around for a reason, and i don't think it's to trade him. He has done very well when given a regular ab's---and he seems to struggle with non-regular ab's. So i think he will be sent down when coco comes back so that he can play everyday in AAA! Nice avatar by the way city:D
  20. Dinardo will do fine and may be in the rotation until the all-star break. (i don't see wells coming back and being effective this year) Now if clemens comes here he obviously takes the spot, but if he doesn't i think they will evaluate their options based on dinardo's performance thus far. (remember we are talking about a #5 starter who is in the pen during the post-season) I don't see Hansen coming up this year unless really needed. He is spending a lot of time in AA portland. I saw a report on him the other day and they said that he's got "big league" stuff now---but really needs time in the minor's to polish his whole game. So i don't see the sox rushing him and turning him into a "pena" type guy. (rushed too quick to the bigs) I think our best option (if clemens doesn't come back) is for Foulke to round into form (which he seems to be getting better) and take over the role of closer so that paps can be stretched out and return to the rotation as our #5 guy!
  21. Excellant points. I don't consider him a traitor either (and i have been a sox fan all my life--and grew up watching clemens pitch for the sox) As i have mentioned before: I hate the fact that he went to NY, but if Duquette hadn't forced him out of boston that would not have happened. I understand why he went to NY (with the added bonus of sticking it in duquette's face). I hate the fact that he played in NY--but i don't blame him for leaving boston! i would love to have him finish his career with us, but i would be fine without him as well!
  22. I don't consider him a traitor. It's not like he left giving the sox the finger for more money----if anyone is to blame it's duquette! You do remember the "he's over the hill" crack? With that said when he played for the yanks, i wanted him to lose every game, and nothing would have made me happier than to have his carreer end (which we thought at the time) after a loss to the sox in the playoffs. So in a nutshell, i despise what he did when he went to the yanks---but can't fault him for leaving the sox in the first place, he wasn't wanted here!
  23. He's better not have a problem, or he's not coming here. I would thing that with his "come to a new team at the all-star break" plan---he would have figured the other team already has been set in their rotation so he would just plug in where needed! Let's hope so anyway, although i am fine without us getting him!
