  1. so you want to carry only 1 1stbasemen,a rookie who has been on the job for exactly 6 weeks and not carry a backup? and then replace jt on the roster with??? heep sop choi?? jt snow is a good ball player, hes also cheap and hes got a fist full of gold gloves youk is fine again i ask you what happens if youk or lowell get hurt? i can almost guarantee will happen over the course of 162 game season, even for a week and when it does? it'll still be worth carrying snow on this team youk has impressed, for sure but depth at these positions is needed
  2. hes not going to the minor leagues but i think a few months of playing every day would help him dont you?? he needs 500abs a year to develop properly and he needs to see a lot of the outfield unless he plans on dh'ing his entire career he never had more than 350abs in a season and thats in cincinatti why you ask?? hes been in the big leagues since he was 17 and he has the plate discipline of a little leaguer and he couldnt field for s***. give him 600abs and he'll shatter the strike out records and i mean shatter them he needs to develop patience at the plate its easier to do that in pawtucket than in yankee stadium in a pennant race thats my only point here. perhaps playing with ramirez ortiz and youkillis, men who wear pitchers out, will help him. playing with adam dunn didnt help him at all, they could be twins. the point is moot i believe due to the contract this guy has if we send him down we need to waive him and thats not happening because of his upside..... upside is only good if you fullfill it as of today he resembles sam horn a lot more than he resembles manny ramirez but i too see him improving and thats why i would like to see him hit every day,not just against lefties.
  3. george was barred from day to day activities and he couldnt sell his farm system like he did before and like hes done over the past 5 years its no coincidence that baseball guys with the yanks infinite resources developed some great ball players while georgie was on sabbatical. george isnt a baseball guy he watches the games but has no concept of how its done on the team level. hes a stat guy he likes the shiny things he has to have the best available player at each position or he loses sleep.... this is how chemistry and depth and the future get destroyed last year he went out and re-assembled the 1998 allstar team and put them in pinstripes now?? this team is farther away than they have been in 12 years and their future is based on who they can sign in the fall as hes got nothing coming up and no trade bait and hes saddled with some of the worst contracts in sports history on this current 25 man roster. he has no patience with the young kids he had no patience period see vasquez contreras etc... the best thing for the yankee future would be for george to have a stroke and get out of the hair of the baseball guys
  4. bingo why would we get a guy who ny bludgeons for the stretch run? foreign arms down the stretch,a guy like schmidt who ny never sees willis, with his awkward delivery,,would be a new look and something that theyve never seen
  5. of the 3 i least like zito willis pitched well last nite but has had a rocky year schmidt on the other hand?? i dont know i loved the guy a couple summers ago and he made me a ton of money over the years but hes been around the 4area in era and has a lot of miles on him he still throws mid90s zito should go to the national league if hes smart hes very very beatable
  6. the resurgence of the yankee organization in the 90s is directly related to the trade of roberto ""dont call me bobby"" kelly to cinci for paul oneil jim bowden shouldve been assasinated for that move
  7. Totally different situation, and Bill Buckner was one of the best defensive first baseman ever to play the game. I think all time he is like 5th or 6th in fielding percentage is that right?? so you wouldve had him on the field that nite in flushing?? jt snow has a fist full of gold gloves, decent power from the left side and is a veteran influence on a team that has a lot of young strangers who havent been together that long. if lowell or youk go down you want snow on the team injuries are a fact of life in this league and we're only into week 6 of kevin youks full time gig at 1st base... heep sop choi?? didnt la cut him? when the nl west deems you expendable its about over for your career
  8. anyone remember bill buckner? before we go and trade a late inning defensive replacement with a bit of power from the left hand side i would like to see what we're getting in return sure youk has been fabulous, better than expected here but i like depth and snow brings depth,a great glove and years of on the job experience
  9. the kid is an enigma 7 years in the pros ? and he still cant lay off the hi heat and the change ups in the dirt but hes getting better he needs time in the minors he really does but it aint happening i think in a line up with notoriously patient hitters like ortiz manny and youk he can watch and learn a thing or 2 in cinci he had a twin in adam dunn,a guy who can hit the ball 500 feet but whiffs 200xs a year we dont need that s*** here in boston....if pena continues to go the other way, remains patient at the plate and doesnt f*** up too badly in the field he's going to be our next rightfielder when nixon leaves in the fall...unless of course they send him packing to miami for willis
  10. stump merrill?? wow thats just wrong, its almost impossible to type its so wrong 6 words for the merril days the horror the horror the horror
  11. we had season tix in foxboro for 20 years the original cost was 12 per ticket 20 yrs later it was 100 then kraft started the nickel and diming and pimping that continues to this day ""service fees"" ""handling fees"" ""seat licenses"" the luckiest man on earth is bob kraft but i do appreciate the fact that the patriots didnt cost the taxpayers of massachusetts too much money for the route 1 development and the new building was indeed paid for by the owner, not the taxpayers
  12. wrigley would be fine if they had a ballclub out there
  13. as much as i worship each and every failure that organization brings to the table i am a big enough fan of the game to appreciate the fact that they have some outstanding ball players and make the game more enjoyable to watch too bad about damons (1)shoulder (2)foot no way he finishes the season without a trip to the dl their outfield is now officially in shambles
  14. yeah but they hung 14.....amazing they have some real warriors on that team led by their long eye lashed captain the bottom of the order led by cano and cabrerra showed up large damon had 3 hits and jeter went 4-5 including the money homerun in the 5th that brought them within 2 runs last nites game paid for the entire season of my baseball package as far as im concerned a great game kind of reminded me of the ronnie lyle ernie shavers fight from the 70s 2 heavy weights with no way to stop the other guy from beating the s*** out of you the only defense is a good offense.... 1 for the ages for sure
  15. lefties feast on chen and a lesson for all you future dads out there keep your sons right hand tied behind his back till hes 15 and you too can have a major leaguer jeff fassero is still in baseball tommy glavine is still in baseball wells is still in baseball bruce chen is a starter josh towers?? mike stanton?? tony fossas pitched till he was 46 if youre left handed theres hope now as far as wily mo goes if say dontrelle willis or jason schmidt are on the table on 7-1 and the yanks and sox are bidding on them...... tell me you wouldnt send wily mo in a deal that would bring us a decent pitcher and keep 1 from the bowels of jerome avenue aka the bronx?? pena is a better hitter today than he was in march he still needs more discipline at the plate but hes going to the opposite field quite a bit lately i dont see him hitting .300 this year either but he could easily hit 25 homers if crisp remains out another month and the gets his ab's. he is a liability in the field now but with time he should get better
  16. I can just as easily say the World Series in 2000 was part of this century, just to split hairs. i can say im banging jessica alba we'd both be wrong A rod hit it right on the nose, the had matthews in the right spot is all. As for jeter, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. How long have you known about baseball? A month? arod is the biggest choke artist on the planet, bar none. jetseys career avg with runners on base was discussed yesterday,ad nauseaum,he isnt hitting .050 with runners on after the 8th with the chance to tie or take the lead as far as posada goes that was the 1st time i saw him take on a base runner, usually he fields the ball closer to the pitchers mound, desperate times need desperate measures i guess
  17. thank christ i put a small fortune on these f*** bags tonite as even the bookmakers no longer give them respect
  18. blam game ova
  19. well we know derek and arod wont hit with runners on in the 9th hip hip jorge needs to step up here
  20. the yankees and their fans are fascinating to watch, simply fascinating the yankees showed why they are the 10 time division champions tonite the yankees also showed why they aint won s*** this century and can expect another post season let down they got no pitching...none may 16th and proctor is burnt rivera looks horrible chacon is out of the rotation and 10-0 aaron small, everyones darling last year, has an era around david wells waist size but they battle i often bust on jetsey...its a ritual with me but he showed why he gets so much respect around the league tonite banner game for the jetsey but chacon?? and small?? and ronnie villone?? and rivera?? i dunno jetsey leads off the 9th lets see if they got any gas in the tank... if anyone can blow it in the 9th its this club from texas
  21. millar couldnt catch a cold however while nixon plays a solid right field dont get me wrong im not a nixon guy but i wont sink so low as to compare him with millar just yet anyone notice how his power#s plummeted and his injuries began since the roid testing started? coincidence? perhaps...perhaps not if wily mo can hit .280 with consistant power, knock his k's down 25-50% and learn how to handle the corner in right nixons going to sit an awful lot however wily, when i last checked was hitting 150 against lefties
  22. fenway camden yankee shea olympic and both angels homes camden is my favorite place so far with the new angels park being 2nd
  23. good post trotter beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder camden is awesome i like yankee stadium too shea is a s*** hole and should be torched rfk is a football stadium and based on the attendence for the nationals it should remain so as a 40yr old dad i look for things like comfort and cost im not a big man but i go 5-10 215 and most of my friends are similar in girth 4 men my size cant sit side by side with any comfort at all. when someone mentions the ""charm"" of fenway all i picture is the stench of 100 year old hotdog water, unflushed public toilets and the biting stench of piss@puke
  24. jeters a good ballplayer who evidnetly cant hit with runners on after the 8th inning i'd take him over alex gonzales
  25. rician it was me that place was built for 1912 asses when the avg man was 5'5 125lbs they have seats facing centerfield instead of home plate, they put seats in aisles, they remove railings and put in seats, they have 1000 obstructed views, they have the stading room in the right field roof as primo seats, the monster seats are the worst in the building but the novelty of getting them makes them cost 150.00 a piece face value, they have seats on the field along the 1st base line they get 500.00 apiece for face value.. the place is a gold mine as is as a business man only a fool would move out of there and spend 1B of his own money then have to negotiate with the unions, the neighborhood groups and the city council on a new stadium....it took 30 years of bargaining and bribing to get a new boston garden it'll take 300 years and a lot of TAXPAYER money to get a new ballpark built. fenways a s*** hole 8days ago i was at edison field in anaheim... no contest,it blows fenway away in every single category from cost to comfort those who have attended games in different cities may want to add their 2cents in as well the only item fenway brings to the table is closeness and ball park atmosphere and even the ballpark atmosphere is leaving us because this ownership group has priced middle class families out of the building and now we're left with corporate schills and the biffs and buffies of the world on their fukin cell phones CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?? HIIIIIIII BIFFF HIIII MUFFFY...CAN YOU SEE ME CAN YOU SEE ME?? meanwhile when you scream at the umpire for blowing a call the guy next to you wants you to apologize because you interuppted his conference call by cheering too loudly?? fenway?? f*** fenway
