  1. Take Hanley, and if you can't get him, get Rollins or Reyes. You can still get a power hitter in the later rounds.
  2. I like the lefty-righty-lefty-righty in the lineup. I think it's something that's easy to forget about, and one knock on the Phillies I've heard is that they don't have that with Utley, Howard, and Ibanez all lefties in the middle of their lineup.
  3. So as of now, is Kottaras Wakefield's catcher? I wonder if this will be a tough year for him because he will have to show he can handle the knuckleball and become Varitek's successor.
  4. My first thought was how much they looked like their road jerseys back in the 80s. Now that they have these, are their road jerseys from last year totally out?
  5. Here's mine: Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz Youk Bay Drew Lowell Lowrie Varitek Pretty straightforward, I think that's how most people see the lineup.
  6. If we traded for Berkman at the deadline, we'd have him under our control until next year with an option for 2011. Two plus years of 30 HRs/100 RBIs with .300 average? I say yes. I agree, Haren and Webb are a stretch since Arizona basically just rebuilt, and I doubt they have any desire to sell off and start rebuilding again. They'd have to get really bad.
  7. The fact they gave Papelbon the $6.25 million this year says they're serious. I would think Theo would really go all out to keep Papelbon in Boston because unlike Teixeira and Damon, Theo drafted him and he's been a Red Sox his entire career.
  8. The only concern I have with Papelbon is whether his shoulder issues will ever come back to bother him. But the team has handled him so well the last two years, I doubt it. He definitely has a chance to be the team's closer for a long time. Foulke was awesome too when we needed him the most. Oakland signed him last year, but I guess it didn't work out since I never heard anything about him during the season.
  9. Haha, this is true.
  10. Considering he's probably the best closer we've had this decade, it's a good deal to me.
  11. Yeah, $5 million is crazy. He had a low average last season but had 40 homers and 100 RBIs. Sounds like Washington wants him the most right now.
  12. I saw it on SurvivingGrady.com. God, those people were fat. Youk is stylin' now with his shades and suit.
  13. Man, he's been pretty awful the last three seasons with Tampa Bay and Detroit. Maybe being with a winning team in the Mets will turn things around for him? Haha, probably not.
  14. Haha, I think it was David Pauley who took over in relief for Josh Beckett in the second inning when he blowed big time in New York one night in '06. The night I happened to go all the way to Yankee Stadium to see him. Yeahhh, that was a good night.
  15. Varitek has roots there. He might like it.
  16. No kidding, it looks like our top prospect is Michael Almanzar, who only started in single A last year.
  17. Pedroia I doubt will be hitting cleanup every year now after the season he had in '08, but I agree that he will still be an offensive force with a high average every year. Youkilis I can totally see continuing the trend he started last year. He's a fixture in the lineup who will play every day, and his second-half struggles seemingly are behind him.
  18. I think it's a good deal. I don't know if Youk will replicate the numbers he had in '08 over the next four years, but I do know he gained some stability last year which will help him. In '06 and '07, he was getting used to first base, being bounced around all over the batting order, and still getting accustomed to major league pitching. Last year, he found his rhythm. He looked good in that cleanup spot, and he could continue there next year. So I hope he can maintain what he did last year. He's in a good position to.
