Well after trading 3 of our top 10 prospects in the offseason the system took a hit and promoting Lester, Delcarmen, Hansen and Papelbon fulltime and the system is very thin at the top making things very difficult to get talent in trades. The Sox system still has a lot of good talent and with this years draft they did reload that talent. As everyone knows the 2 best prospects right now are Pedroia who will be the starting 2B next year and Ellsbury who will likely finish 2007 in AAA. After that there is not much else in AA or AAA but the rest of the talent is going to be at high A ball next year. The sox were ranked 7th before the season by BA but thats before the Marte trade to cleveland. The Dodgers were ranked the #1 farm system by BA. The sox will likely be in the teens after this season after having a bunch of prospects graduate.
