  1. Send Bradley to the bench. I don't care what defensive WAR indicates. The guy stinks with a bat in his hands.
  2. Someone post the lineups please.
  3. Corrected. ^
  4. When he took that funny step hitting the bag, I thought, you have got to be kidding. Hopefully, it was a minor tweak.
  5. I agree with this completely. However, I don't think they expected that the season would blow up so quickly and so dramatically. The problems were evident from opening day. They decided to be patient. That's understand able to a point, but they failed to make adjustments on the fly to help address the needs of the team. The one move they made (Drew) was too late and ill-advised. It accelerated the team's demise. If nothing else, they have given Bradley a good long look -- long enough to know that he is a long way from being proficient enough offensively to hold down the CF job. They have seen enough from Bogaerts to know that he is not going to be the next Pujols. The only question left is whether he can handle SS defensively. If so, he can probably do enough offensively to stick. If they had not acquired Drew, they would already know the answer.
  6. But they did screw things up this year. Their prior success doesn't change that. Will they get this on the right track and what is the timeline are the 2 open questions. Based on the moves at the deadline, it looks like they are building to improve in 2015. It also looks like they have a lot of work to do rebuilding the 2015 staff.
  7. Nomad and Jim Rice were some pretty good RH hitters. Manny wasn't bad either.
  8. Other than Jacko, no one is calling the good years an aberration. If you want to talk about how to fix this team join in. There has been a lot of discussion about that. If you want to whine that the FO doesn't get blamed for this year, I am not interested. They get they credit when the team succeeds and the blame when they lose. That's a given and not up for a debate.
  9. Lol! I don't think the fans on the internet make it a difficult town to play in. No one pays attention to that. What has always made Boston a tough place to play is the media coverage. Print media was brutal to Ted Williams, Yaz and Rice. They murdered managers. Believe it or not, they are not nearly as nasty today as they used to be. There is much more coverage today and more intrusion on their privacy in the clubhouse, but for the most part the coverage is benign. The fans at Fenway are great. I can't remember one of our guys in uniform getting booed, not even a psycho like Carl Everett. So, stop it with all this nonsense.^ Every year stands on its own. That's the way it works. They did a great job last year and they got kudos from everyone. This year was a total implosion and they deserve the blame. Everything else is just a rationalization or excuse. Bad luck? Please. If we are going to attribute this season in part to bad luck, then maybe some of last year was good luck? The good luck last year did not turn a 95 loss team into a 95 win team just as this years bad luck didn't turn a 95 win team into a 95 loss team. The critics didn't make this team suck. This was a terribly constructed team. Last year's World Championship matters to the extent that this FO crew gets a mulligan for this atrocious performance. If they had been eliminated by Tampa in the ALDS, the FO would be getting cleaned out after this season along with the roster.
  10. I am not unhappy about not seeing playoff baseball this season. I never expected that this would be a playoff team. What has transpired has been far worse than missing the playoffs. We have had almost no meaningful baseball since opening day. Beyond that, the team has played embarrassingly poorly and they have been boring to watch. They put out a team that has been so uninteresting and amateurish that i actually turned to boring soccer for entertainment. This hadn't been rebuilding. This was an imploding collapse.
  11. You saw Beckett have games like this before he established himself in the majors? This guy can never make the majors with his current lack of command.
  12. His reason doesn't matter to me because he has zero credibility as far as i am concerned.
  13. The same ownership that will finish in last place twice in the last 3 seasons. That's something they haven't done since 1933.
  14. He was always around to serve up the crow, but he deserted when it came time to eat some himself. f***ing weasel.
  15. Middlebrooks is not going to be a consistent major leaguer. Big power, but not a good hitter at all.
  16. Webster has zero value to the organization at this point other than AAA roster filler.
  17. They didn't need Alex Wilson or Layne on the roster. They were not necessities. One of them should have been sent down and Renaudo should have stayed on the roster to make his next start. Stupid move sending him down.
  18. metrics are not everything. The players will tell you who are the most mentally tough players in big spots. I' ll give way more credence to their opinion than any statistical evidence or lack of evidence. If the players look to other players in big spots, that is good enough for me. Not every good player is good in big spots.
  19. The new batting stance has made all the difference in Mr. Automatic Outs season. 0 for 4 today with 3 more ks. The kid stinks.
  20. That doesn't make sense.
  21. They sent Ranaudo down?
  22. He needs to improve just to be a bad major leaguer.
  23. Vasquez has done well with the bat so far. He makes consistently good contact. Not a lot of swings and misses.
  24. Mr. Automatic Out doing what he does best - make an out. He not very fast.
