I am enjoying the Jeter suck-fest in his final season. I am also glad that he is such a prima dona that he insists on playing SS every night even though there are 2 Shortstops better than him on the team, and that Girardi doesn't have the buts to sit him down.

The possibility of firing Farrell has been discussed by some people recently. Some people think that it would be scapegoating. Maybe the player friendly approach was only an effective motivational tool for one year as a reaction to Bobby V's egotistical arrogance. What I have not seen is an analysis of some statistics. I think that we have lost the most 1 run games, and yesterday, I heard that we lead the league in extra inning losses. We can't blame these things on the back of the bullpen, because they have been very effective. One run games and extra inning games are where managerial tactics can be a deciding factor. If our players were more effective at bunting, maybe that couldd have helped. Maybe some hit a runs. On the other side, we made a ton of stupid outs on the bases. These thing can make a difference. Edit: The Yankees have scored 9 more runs than the Red Sox and they are only marginally better in ERA ranking and run differential ranking, but yet they are 12 games better than us in the loss column. I think that has to be attributed largely to the managers.

There is no guarantee that Pedroia would be a good 3B either, so I'd rather not weaken the team at 2 positions.

Prior to 2014, XB, Bradley and WMB probably would have been enough to get Chris Sale. THe FO thought they had 3 Gold Star prospects, and now we are left with a project in XB and 2 bags of trash.

I think Holt is the far better player at this juncture. He deserves the chance to compete for the 2015 SS job. XB has done zero to warrant making him the incumbent.

Webster is never going to be a big league starter. He is not going to contend for the 2015 rotation. The only decision for the Sox is whether they can get someone in return for him with some value or whether he is worth more as minor league roster fill.

i share this same concern. After bombing out with Bradley, I expected that they would look for a bona fide proven guy. If they were going to roll the dice again, I thought they might roll the dice with Betts as the CFer and save the money for pitchers.

Maybe Holt will be the SS in 2015. I think that is his natural position. Plus, XB's fielding was not impressive at SS. What do you think of Bradley's future prospects with the Red Sox? It seems that he missed his opportunity. With the Sox signing Castillo, obtaining Cespedes and Craig, and converting Betts to the OF, there is no room for Bradley. Let's not forget that we still have Victorino too.
