    The mentor Theo and his protege, Ben will both lose 9o+ gmaes this season and finish in last place. In the last r seasons, the mentor has had one 100 loss season and two 90+ loss seasons. The protege has lost 9o+ games twice and won a championship. The protege surpassed the mentor, but it was a very low bar. FInishing .500 just one season would have done the trick. Theo is going into his 4 th year of the so-called 3-5 year plan. He has a ton of big major league ready prospects. Next season he has no excuse to have a losing record.

    I wonder what it would take to get Smarzdjia from the A's. He has one year left under their control. The guy would fill our 3rd slot nicely. If we ate most of Buch's salary and sent a mid-level prospect, that might get it done.

    In less than 2 full games, Rivero has matched half of Middlebrook's HOme Run production over 200 ABs.

    Workman is a bullpen piece. Period. Bradley still can't hit. But I can't say that he looks any worse than Alan Craig.

    Hanley is a FA after this season. Also, there have been rumors that Tulo wants out of Colorado. If no solid offensive IF option is availabe, I'd rather go with Betts at 3rd than either Middlestinks or Holt. We need to add some offense to the IF, not necessarily a power hitter. We may have enough power with Ortiz, Cespedes, and Naps.

    Stanton is a pipedream for us.

    These hand problems are becoming a chronic issue. Management need to plan for the possibility that he will never be the same hitter. On top of getting 2 top of the rotation starting pitchers, they will need to get a big IF Bat -- a catalyst or a big thumper. An IF of a diminished Pedroia, Bogaerts, and Middlestinks or Holt is not going to cut it when we are carrying a glove man behind the plate (Vasquez) and an unknown quantity in CF (Castillo). That is more than half a lineup of dead weight. Our offense will be on par with the Padres again.

    Based on Barnes short outing, I liked Barnes stuff more than Ranaudo's stuff. He potches down in the zone better than Ranaudo.

    6 through 9 are very weak.

    It is rare to develop 3 fulltime average position players at the same time nevermind them being stars. But sometimes three prospects can be turned into a star in a trade. People might scream about gutting the system, but you would be getting a bona fide star. We held on to our chips thinking they were gold, but instead they turned out to be Buffalo Chips.
