  1. Ughh! I didn't.
  2. Unless there is a man on second base with no one out.
  3. And there was a very good stretch of teams from 1975 to 1979-- only a 5 year stretch and 1 playoff appearance. They missed the playoffs with 97 and 99 win seasons.
  4. Did I accuse you of engaging in adulation?
  5. What period am I referring to? I don't think that I referenced any period, so I don't know where you are getting the 86 win figure.
  6. The Red Sox always had a tough time with the turf in KC, but at that time the Sox were a far superior team, and they were getting a second wind down the stretch. They had righted the ship and the guys were pretty healthy at that point.
  7. Ah when the regular season separated the men from the boys.
  8. I don't know where you are getting those numbers from, but 2 playoff appearances in 12 years would not put anyone on a Hall of Fame ballot. While you are on my lawn would you mind watering it and cutting it?
  9. Do I have to like the FO? LOL!! I do like the Wild Card. I am thankful for the Wild Card. I wish there was a Wild Card in 1978. There's a good chance the WS drought would have ended at 60.
  10. This FO also needs to be thankful for the Wild Card. Without it, there would be 2 playoff appearances in 12 seasons-- not that great.
  11. I am a proponent if micro strategy in games as opposed to placating myself with macro statistical results. You are free to have the other approach.
  12. Sure it is okay. Defend them all you want. As long as you don't take the criticism of the FO personally. I always find that type of reaction to be odd.
  13. Ditto, but wow, you set things off now. The FO made plenty of money on the team's success. They don't need adulation too. It's not like they worry about popularity with fans. Unlike players, there is no market for their autographs and memorabilia.
  14. I read an article where the author researched how hitters do after disastrous seasons like Craig had. In a few rare instances the guy bounced back, but generally they were toast. Bradley probably has a better chance than Craig, because he is still learning. He could find something that will help him.
  15. I hate k's with a man on 3rd with less than 2 out or a man on 2nd and no one out. Shorten up and put the ball in freakin play. It's part of the strategy of the game for goodness sakes. It drives me crazy, and it does matter, especially in the post steroid age. Scoring is down. There aren't many 40 HR guys like there were before. 25 HR guys who swing for the fences all the time and strike out 140 times annoy me.
  16. Me too. Craig looked like he had been stuck blind last season. I don't know if hitters recover from a season like that.
  17. Fair enough. Your feelings about him have been made clear, and I will not give you any guff when you do, because I have no affinity for FO personnel ever.
  18. What is the anectdotal evidence? Isn't what you are calling anectodal evidence also rumor/opinion and not fact. Also, based on your postings at TS you have professed a dislike/bias against LL.
  19. LOL! But that will slow up his Home Run trot, thus lengthening games.
  20. It's just silly to lay it all at Lucchino's doorstep. People are desperate to find a fallguy so they can absolve the rest. The fish rots from the head.
  21. I like that he speaks out. I find rehearsed Politically Correct answers to be interminably boring. I have no interest in reading or hearing interviews where the player repeats old cliches and essentially says nothing about what they really think. Papi is always authentic.
  22. Yes, I am counting the days to Fort Myers.
  23. I'm away on business, In the middle of the second martini, things become clear. Our staff is a collection of medicrity and "ifs". It is a long shot that this turns out well. That slim chance rests in the narrow shoulders of Buch. Without a big year from him, third place at best.
  24. I don't have a source, but a friend of mine said that heard that Moncado is MLB ready. Has anyone read or heard this?
  25. Speier makes it sound like the Red Sox made the purchase at some sort of "going out of business" sale.
