  1. Our pitchers stubbornly maintaining the terrible ERA.
  2. The fans weren't patient? Didn't they play to a packed Fenway every night? Growing pains? That's really understating last place.
  3. He has had some horrible horrible luck. Poor Ben Murphy's Law Cherrington. But he has to be fired.
  4. The farm has been barren for years in producing major league pitchers.
  5. Pirates have acquired Aramis Ramirez
  6. it is very difficult to compete today with pitching that has an ERA over 4. We would have to prove tremendously to get to 4 and that is still not good enough to compete.
  7. yes, he is fine as a 4/5 starter, but he is currently our #2. He is not a #2.
  8. Pardon me for adding emphasis. To anyone who thinks otherwise, I will restate it for the upteenth time. It is the pitching, stupid!!
  9. Don't use their own words against them. That is considered mocking and bad form unless they are engaging in that behavior in addition to putting words in your mouth. This was a team that was obviously in trouble when it cam out of the gates. Anyone who couldn't see it was in denial.
  10. I am not familiar with the guys received in return by the A's. The Astros starting pitching has been much stronger than ours and they reinforced it with Kazmir. They need to get Springer back in the lineup and another potent bat.
  11. I can agree with that too! LOL!
  12. I never thought of it like that, but I think you are right. When he does pitch, half the time he is an ace and the other half is dud.
  13. In other words, you are getting off the TalkSox beat it to death merry go round. LOL!!
  14. But he does go on the DL every year around June or July, so you need a contingency plan, because you don't know when he will make it back.
  15. From your prior post it was clear that 3 months was not enough. How many months is enough?
  16. In an article about Buch's visit to Dr. Andrews was the following quote: I guess that you really reduce wear and tear on your arm by pitching only half seasons. In addition to the platelet-rich plasma injection, Buch will be placed in bubble wrap until he begins rehabbing at which time only is right arm will be freed from the bubble wrap.
  17. How many months are needed to determine that a mistake has been made?
  18. If other writers start joining the chorus that will be an indication to me that the FO has put out the word. That is the modus operandi. Immediately before and after they part ways with someone he gets savaged in the press. I don't think it is a coincidence.
  19. Save the $13 million for the half year and get a full season pitcher.
  20. I'd put Holt at Third, and I'd get a real outfielder to take Hanley's spot. That shouldn't be that difficult.
  21. The backup plan would be a minor leaguer who you would hope could step in and claim a spot or a rehabiing veteran who you hope would be healthy and ready at the time Buch goes down in June or July. You are not going to sign or trade for a fully healthy starter and stick him in the pen waiting for Buch to go down. It is really hard to have a good reliable backup plan for losing one of your better starters during the season.
  22. Panda and Hanley are a couple of slugs. Whether or not they put up their career numbers doesn't mean that they will be a good fit or help the team dynamic.
