  1. I just have no confidence in their evaluation and development of pitching.
  2. My post starting the game thread. Get someone else in the lineup, Farrell!
  3. If they take one of the wild cards. Everyone is alive for the wild cards in September except for real garbage like us.
  4. It is the first week of August, even that has not been established.
  5. So all the crappy play is the result of the coaching staff meddling with guys? If that is the case, then Farrell and his whole staff should have been fired already.
  6. That will stay there until he makes the playoffs.
  7. I have heard and read all the rationale before, so I am glad that you didn't waste your time repeati g any of it. J never agreed with the rationale. Just because they gave the reasoning for their actions doesn't make the judgment sound.
  8. The crowd is dead which is surprising considering that they are first place.
  9. i guess they didn't want the othe GMs to double over laughing. We can't get rid of those contracts for # 5 pitchers with ERA s between 4.5 and 6. Only a dunce would want those deals or should I say a Boob.
  10. Shields has been placed on waivers by SD. It would be nice if he cleared waivers and we made a deal.
  11. get rid of all of them! Get a new GM and start over! As they say, press the reset button.
  12. Eduardo Rodriguez (i.e. Our Ace) vs C.C. Sabathia (aka "Fatassia") Go Red Sox! Take the Series. The fans still care. The players still care. Farrell and the coaching staff need to get their heads out of their asses and give a winning effort. Stop sending runners to their deaths on stupid plays. Stop pitching Breslow. Stop playing Napoli. And for goodness sakes give a take sign to our .100 hitter on 3-0 when he is leading off an inning.
  13. no blame for Lucchino on these moves
  14. it was a bad move at the time. We heard the arguments at the time for the move and many of us rejected those justifications at the time. One and a half years of Lackey, who was having a good season and who had just helped us win a Championship at minimum salary was a hugely tradeable asset. He should have netted us a top prospect without question. Instead we got a pitcher who we knew was a project and a broken down player with 2 or 3 years left on a sizeable contract. As you would say, there is no sugar coating it, and these facts were known at the time. They took 2 long shots (and one is expensive) in return for a known high producing cheap asset. Yuk! Then and even bigger yuk right now.
  15. She is a very friendly dog.
  16. i can agree that it was probably Farrell's call. That is not how a winning manager would play it. If he is concerned about next year, his best chance to still be here next season is if he gets the team playing good ball down the stretch.
  17. If it only worked that way.
  18. I think you meant to say "when" Buchholz goes down?
  19. C i look at it from the perspective of trying to win the game. With a 1 run lead in the 9th inning, your lead off hitter gets the take sign on a 3-0 count, especially if he is hitting .104. I might think of turning him loose if there is a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs to give him the best opportunity to drive the ball. Never when leading off. There is no other way to look at it. That is just not the right way to play the game to win.
  20. He will be back with us by next season. Imo
  21. Of all those arms, I think the one that could be obtained would be Harvey. I have been hearing that he is not very keen on the Mets organization, and they have little chance of holding onto him long term. It would take a big chip to get him, but I think Mookie would do it- probably straight up, because the Mets are desperate for Outfielders and speed.
  22. When you pick up someone to help you out for 2 months down the stretch drive, you have no time to wait for the guy to bounce back. He'll get a week or two of AB s and if he continues slumping, he'll be released by the Rays.
