  1. This came up in the context of discussion of whether Moncado's fielding needs work. Regardless of the shortcomings of errors as a stat, 29 is a number that clearly indicates that he has work to do.
  2. I still love Manny and Papi.
  3. Either way his mind isn't in the game and he is a detriment to the team. Lack of of intent is not a Plus. Sorry, but that is BS.
  4. How many are full timers? And I agree who cares. The number of full time players (not bench guys) under 5'9" is statistically small, so the search for healthy and effective players under 5'9" is meaningless. I don't think being short shortens a career. Being too fat does.
  5. So intention doesn't matter at all.
  6. No one is saying that it is a great metric to judge a Golden Glove award, but 29 errors at this juncture is a big number, no matter how it is sliced. The true number may be more than 29. We just don't know. I hope that the organization is giving his fielding appropriate attention and not blaming the official scoring.
  7. So, if it is not intentional, it is not his fault? What does intention have to do with it?
  8. Of the 700 major league players, how many full time players are 5'9" or less?
  9. And the calls probably cut 50-50 -- questionable errors and questionable hits.
  10. One of the discussions on NESNs pre-game show is the huge miss not getting Nelson Cruz 2 years in a row. Supposedly, Ortiz recommended getting him both times and Cruz wanted to come to Boston. Our FO never even kicked the tires either year. Not even a phone call. In 2014 we went with the Grady Sizemore experience and Cruz took a 1 year contract with the Orioles. In 2015, we gave multi-year deal to Hanley to change positions and Cruz went to Seattle to continue leading the league in HRs. The fact that NESN is airing this as a " huge miss" is telling. I still think Cherington is gone at the end of the year.
  11. That is a head shaker. I remember Orlando Cepeda hitting 4 doubles in in a game in 1973.
  12. Bradley with 2 home runs and 3 doubles. In 1 game, he out- produced his performance all of last year in 500 plate appearances. Maybe he has figured it out.
  13. Tanaka was very good. Yankee pitching is very underrated. Last week, even though the Jays swept them, their hitters didn't break out against the Yankees.
  14. I just hope that he takes out Tanaka.
  15. Just killing King Felix today-- 9 runs!
  16. Bradley with a double and a home run today!
  17. Tanaka k's Bautista. He looks pretty good for a guy that I thought was slated for TJ surgery by now.
  18. Donaldson ties the game with a sac fly. Bautista is up with 1 out.
  19. Blue Jays have the bases loaded with no one out in the 5th inning with Donaldson at the plate. The Yankees lead 1-0.
  20. This pitching Matchup had the makings of a reverse lock theory game.
  21. He's used to pitching in climate controlled conditions. It is pretty hot out there today.
  22. Bradley taking King Felix deep to CF. He is starting to look good at the plate. He's not just looking not bad. He is seeing the ball well, exhibiting confidence, and making good contact.
  23. Miley got rid of his homeless-look beard. It is the biggest improvement that the team had made in months.
  24. Is there an argument going on that I should know about? Lol!
  25. We also don't know if he butchered other balls that were scored as hits. I think it is safe to say that he needs to work on his defense.
