  1. They didn't get hm at a discount. They actually set a new pay level for #4 starters. A number of similar pitchers, who had better years than Porcello in 2015, signed for less money than Porcello's extension.
  2. There you go speaking for others again -- and in hypothetical situations.
  3. He is bigger than ever -- the biggest that he has been. He has literally passed the tipping point on the weight issue. You can't play the game at that weight, and jockey is also out for him.
  4. Kimmi, you can't play the game as a third baseman at 295 lbs. when you are under 6' tall. You can't. He needs to take off at least 20 lbs. There is no chance that needs to be given. You can't perform at that weight.
  5. I see no change of philosophy other than playing the best players regardless of contract size, which is the way it should be. Playing the big contract guys despite subpar performance is not patience. It is stubbornly clinging to a hope that they will justify the money you gave them -- a way of saving face. I see no other change of philosophy. There have been no aging pitchers given huge contracts. DD has spent far less than the amount squandered by Ben (around $351 million on Hanley, Pablo, Porcello, Castillo and Craig). I see no evidence of a 180 degree change of philosophy. There is no evidence of that.
  6. In other words, your weight didn't regress to the mean all by itself. It took discipline and effort.
  7. This confirms what I thought -- that even if he went top shelf for the whole thing, it would be chump change compared to his contract. He has no excuses. He just didn't care enough to get in shape. It is that simple. Kimmi would have us believe that he was held down and force fed, but the reality is that he has no excuses. The blame is all his.
  8. How much do you think it would cost per month in the off season to hire a nutritionist, a chef and personal trainer in the DR?
  9. The agent was following orders. The agent doesn't care if he is playing in year 2 of his contract. He just wants pablo to keep cashing his check and paying the agent his cut. He just doesn't want Pablo to die of a fat embolism before the contract runs out.
  10. You can't play this game at almost 300 lbs if you are under 6' tall.
  11. LOL!! Farrell is not going to say what he really thinks -- that Pablo is so fat that he sweats gravy.
  12. Is his weight going to regress to the norm?
  13. You just cannot play at that weight.
  14. And they accuse you of being an old fuddy duddy, but they rain all over your parade when you are enthusiastic about a young prospect.
  15. Yep, and even us U.S. Citizens have no ability to interfere with U.S. politics, but discussion of it leads to no good.
  16. Please stop. We don't need Brits interfering in our politics.
  17. A Hardship Exception
  18. Old Milwaukee Bock
  19. If the benching of Panda serves as a wake up call to him to take his craft more seriously, it is a good thing even if Shaw implodes.
  20. It was part of the joke -- apparently a bad one.
  21. I hate those commercials.
  22. Oye, you missed the humor.
  23. If it carries an MLB license, it gets shared 30 ways. I don't think a team can create it's own merchandise without the MLB license.
  24. We don't need to re-start food fights. That's just trolling. It clogs up the forum.
  25. It is always good to dredge up something that ended last night, especially when you were not involved.
