  1. It would be hard to find bad pizza in Bensonhurst.
  2. LOL!! I am just a sucker for any Presidential history. Despite the fact that I have come to really despise all politicians, I am a student of Presidential history. I will visit any Presidential Library if it is in the vicinity of my travels. I have been to the JFK library twice. A 1964 high school yearbook designed and edited by my brother that was dedicated to JFK is in that Library. It ma be very nerdy, but to me that is pretty cool.
  3. What was your favorite pizza place in Brooklyn?
  4. What baffles me is that three new stadiums have been built without retractable domes -- CitiField, Yankee Stadium and the Twins ballpark.
  5. At the Union Oyster House, ask to be seated in the JFK booth if they are not too busy. He had dined at that booth and there is a commemoration plaque in the booth. You can combine the best clam chowder with sight seeing.
  6. Billy Martin too and Ralph Houk patented the throw down and kick of the hat.
  7. Speaking only for myself, that is not true. I respect both of you and your opinions.
  8. No. Don't take your ball and go home. If you continue to argue losing cases, you will become associated with those cases. A good litigator settles the cases that he knows are likely losers.
  9. I think this makes you a homer. There is nothing wrong with that. It means you are a passionate fan. Know thyself.
  10. As the reasons and support become and more tenuous, the credibility decrease proportionately.
  11. Evaluating pitching has been a weak point for the Re Sox organization for more than a decade. Maybe Ben looked at the same numbers that kimmi is posting, but he should have watched him pitch more. The stuff just isn't there.
  12. A person's race, religion, ethnic background do not effect a player's performance. Weight directly impacts his performance. You are drawing a false equivalency.
  13. No. Sandoval is bigger now than he has ever been. No one is disputing that. He has reached a weight at which no one can perform. It is that simple. Hopefully, he takes this as a wake up call and starts to drop some weight. I meant to say that no one here is biased against Pablo because he is fat. We are just acknowledging that he can't perform at his current weight.
  14. He's not an alcoholic. But plenty of alcoholics have performed atvery highlevels as long as they were not drunk during the game. Mickey Mantle is the first name that pops to mind. The problem with being obese (and he is obese --his fictional weight is 255) is that you simple can't perform at that weight at the major league level in a competent manner. i am sure that there are some 200 lb women that are very good dancers, but they can't be a prima ballerina at that weight. No one is biased against fat people.
  15. Despite the questionable assumption, I answered the question days ago. Kimmi reads everything, but continues to say that no one has answered her question. The answer is "No" because Pablo's upside if he turns the clock back is not high enough to justify the wait (not weight) and keep Shaw on the bench.
  16. Kimmi, it is called humor. The jokes are not meant to bolster any argument. Why so serious?
  17. At his listed weight of 255 from last year (which we know is a ficton), he is 30 -4- lbs overweight at 5'11".
  18. The guy's biggest asset is that he does eat innings, but he just doesn't have the stuff to be a top of the rotation pitcher. He is not a #1 or 2, except on a last place team. Oh... wait.. LOL!!
  19. But they had the benefit to see him pitch for an entire season before signing him. There was no rush to sign him. They had no competition for his services for a year.
  20. Punking out on a sig bet. Bad form.
  21. He has no track record of being anything more than a #4/5 starter in 7 full major league seasons. To expect him to turn into a top of the rotation guy at this juncture is laughable.
  22. It could end up being market value, but there was no rush to pay the full list price on the guy.
  23. In any regard, signing Porcello early was no coup, and it really had very little possibility of being a big coup. His stuff just isn't there to be anything more than a #4/5 guy. It just isn't there.
