    When things turn bad, he is helpless to turn things around and is more likely to make things worse. Right now, they can't justify upgrading at manager.

    Drew was an excellent fielder. He got excellent jumps on balls and took great routes to balls. If you really want to appreciate OF play you have to sit in behind the OFers. In Spring Training one year I sat in RF behind Drew. Jay Bruce was the oppositions RFer. Bruce at that time had a good reputation as a fielder, but he didn't compare to Drew. His routes to the ball were not as direct and his jumps were much slower than Drews. I still don't know what their defensive metrics were that year, but there was no question in my mind who was the better RFer at that time.

    His value will start to decline as he plays LF in the minors. His value is at catcher. He needs to catch. He should be catching full time in AAA to build his value and then trade him.

    Farrell is pushing most of the right buttons right now. He is doing a good job with this team. He has them engaged, performing at a high level and playing fundamentally sound baseball.

    If they were obsessed, a match would be easy. I don't think anyone debated that he has value. He is a very valuable trade chip, but that will start to erode at some point. The life of a prospect is that they either move up or they move out.

    He has been the second most impactful bat in our lineup. You don't sit a guy like that because a SSS of stats say that he can't hit LHPs named Bill.

    It is masking the issue with our starting pitching. The bats will slump at some point. It happens during a long season. Thankfully, we have Price to be our stopper.

    Encarnacion has played third base for much of his career. His number of games at Third base are almost equivalent to his combined games at 1B and DH. I am not advocating him for 3B, but he does have some versatility.

    There has been some talk that Joe Batts bautista and Encarnacion would be good DH fits for the Red Sox. Both are free agents after this season.

    I have a low bar for Clemens. I always expect him to be a jackass. He was gracious, entertaining and interesting. I was very surprised that I enjoyed listening to him.

    I am not pro Vasquez or pro- Swihart. I am just giving my objective opinion regarding their abilities. CV is an elite quality defender, similar to Yadier Molina. You can't teach what those guys have. Swihart's defensive ceiling is so far below where CV is now, that he would have to be a silver slugger catcher to win the position from him. If Swihart can win the position, that would be great for the Red Sox, because it will take something special to unseat CV. I hope he can do it, but I don't think he will be able to do it unless Vasquez gets injured again.
