Curt's biggest miscalculation was he completely underestimated the capital requirements in the video game industry. It takes an incredible amount of money to bring a successful game to market. He just couldn't compete.

Those Tigers were a solid team. Jim Northrup, Willie Horton, Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Mickey Stanley (a great CFer who moved in to play SS in the World Series).

You made it seem like he got out of it unscathed. And residences are generally exempt from the bankrupt estate. He got hurt financially very badly by his poor business judgement. He didn't "bilk" (your word) anyone out of anything.

To me that post is nothing more than when someone prefaces his insult with the statement "with all due respect". If you want to talk about Curt and his baseball career, I am up for that and this would be the place to do it. If you want to smear him, which is what you are doing by making up fact about his failed business, I still think you are being an ingrate.

He is a 4+ ERA pitcher. That is what he is. He is valuable because he can eat innings. He had a pretty good streak of 6+ inning starts until last night. That is where his real value lies. He is not a #2 or even a #3. -
DD had better be working the phones. This is terrible news. ERod could be just another in a long line of pitching prospects that we waited for breathlessly who become distant memories within a few short years. I hope not.

We get that you don't like Curt for his political beliefs, and if you are a Red Sox fan, I call you an ingrate. But don't make up facts. He did not walk away from the business with plenty of money. Those are not the facts because you want them to be. He lost almost his entire personal fortune. I imagine that his home was protected, and his pension is protected (which is peanuts compared to what he lost). He also is still Curt Schilling and he can still get a gig. That doesn't change the fact that he lost a fortune. This notion of him as an evil businessman is preposterous character assassination and smearing. He is a bad businessman. Crooked businessmen don't lose their own fortunes.

He lost his entire fortune to the point where he even had to sell his sports awards. This has all been reported. He is not broke because he is still able to earn a living and market himself for memorabilia etc.

I didn't say that he is broke. He has his pension and the ability to still market his name. He had to sell his sports awards. He lost a fortune. He didn't steal money from the citizens of Rhode Island. Only their politicians could do that. And they can address that at the ballot box.

Yep, I get it that if he puts it out there people will react to it, and he brings the attention to himself. I guess that my only point is that sports celebrity views about anything are meaningless to me, and I would not sour on a sports hero (especially one who played for the Red Sox and got us to the Promised Land in a dramatic way) because of their personal views. That would make me an ingrate.

"Sold out" "odious" "dicey" LOL!! I guess that you don't like the guy. Those are some pretty strongly negative words. Most evil businessmen don't lose everything if they are just out to screw people.

Chris Marrero has 6 Homers and is OPSing at 837 -- both better than Sam Travis. Maybe he will build some good trade value.

Agreed. if a sports or other celebrity is involved in criminal activity, that is news. It would be news regardless of their celebrity. Their celebrity makes it a bigger story. Their mere opinions are not news.

It is socially acceptable to ridicule religious people and their beliefs. That is not considered intolerance.

Their sports accomplishments are not only separate, but those should be the only thing discussed about the athlete or former athlete. Their political or social views are not news and really are not worthy of analysis or discussion,

The Boston Press is the toughest and most unfair sports press in the country. It has always been that way. If there had been Free Agency in Ted Williams' Day, he would have been out of here. They were miserable to him. He didn't play nice with them, but they tried to destroy him. They went after Yaz and Rice too. At least back then they did not write about their political and social views.

No cats or dogs were killed, so I don't care. The people that don't like him don't like him for his politics. He lost everything. I don't throw rocks at him for being a bad businessman. He didn't defraud anyone. His intent was to keep the business going. He ran out of time and money. Case closed.
