  1. Vin Scully: "He steps off the rubber and looks at first" TalkSox game thread: "Dick!"
  2. Some people love to cling to losing arguments when the real answer is staring them in the face. As a former litigator, I settled the weak cases and tried the strong ones.
  3. maybe he caught the "Poops" from Pedroia. I hear that it is going around. Maybe he belongs to a religion that will not let him work until after Sundown on a Monday in August. These are possibilities of things we were not privy to.
  4. maybe they would have, but I would be less upset, because they are not as important as Wright.
  5. He wanted him to shorten his lead by a step. It is a game of inches. He was trying to win the game.
  6. i would rather send Kimbrel out with a 2 run lead and Leon catching than Holiday with a 1 run lead.
  7. He has never demonstrated any ability to think strategically beyond the current matchup.
  8. The game was on the line. Blanton is trying to win. I disagree completely that it was a low move-- not in a 1 run game.
  9. What are the stats on how many times a catcher is forced to leave a game in the late innings of a game do to injury-- probably statistically insignificant, and it is my position that there were at least a couple of hitters on our bench who are clearly superior to Holiday as a hitter.
  10. Leon or any bullpen pitcher.
  11. He didn't have a big lead. Blanton went after him, because he saw a clueless guy on the bases.
  12. it was the emotion of the game thread, but you are right.
  13. You go with the clearly better offensive player in that situation. Are you saying that is Holiday? If so, I would disagree strongly. But if that is your choice, we will have to agree to disagree. I think Holiday is the worst offensive player on the roster, unless he PH Wright.
  14. If there is a bench clearing brawl, the one guy I want to see get punched in the face would be Showalter. I would play that over and over and over.
  15. i am pretty sure that a base runner like Dave Roberts had a better technique for diving back to a base that didn't involve a face plant and almost separating your shoulder. I am sorry, but that was inexperience on display. And there were other options, so it is on Farrell. Kimmi, you are a good read, but in this case you are defending the stupid and indefensible.
  16. What is it good for?
  17. I am saying that he should put up the clearly superior offensive player in that situation. Would that be Holiday?
  18. How many ABs? Are these late inning ABs?
  19. There's no trap door under that jacket?
  20. I picked up on the sarcasm.
  21. Bedard was a broken relic on his way out, and he injured his knee the day before we acquired him. Poms is 27 years old and hopefully on the way up.
  22. Lackey needed surgery, but didn't want to invoke the minimum salary additional year clause of his contract. Wake was a fossill. Buch was long lost to the DL.
  23. No, it doesn't contradict itself. I called the RISP with 2 out #'s a sss, not his entire body of work. BTW what are the #'s for RISP with less than 2 outs in late inning situations?
