  1. Since you brought it up, I would never bat such a slow guy like Ortiz in front of such a fast guy like Betts. If they walk Ortiz it takes 3 hits or a Homer to score him, and it forces Betts to run one base at a time. Stupid is as Farrell does.
  2. If he was left handed, he'd already have signed regardless of whether he still had a pulse.
  3. Managers make a difference.
  4. They would have been wrestling on the clubhouse floor.
  5. The the real "dick move" was by the big lantern jawed phallus in the dugout who put Wright in to pinch run.
  6. He wanted to shorten his lead. It was a 1 run game. Text book stuff.
  7. maybe he thinks Wright is Wake. It wouldn't surprise me.
  8. I only criticize the manager when I think he is wrong. My low opinion of managerial intelligence is another issue. If you disagree with the latter, good for you. I don't see a need to debate that. But I will only argue about moves that I think are wrong.
  9. I had a paralegal who was a notary and didn't understand the rules around being a notary. When I pointed out that she was going about things the wrong way, she told me that her professor told her to do it that way and he had to be right because he was the professor. I asked her for something in a rule or reg that supported her assertion. The next day she came in with a very professional brochure that said exactly what she had told me the day before. I asked her what the source was for the pamphlet as it contained no citation. Her answer was that her professor wrote it. I responded -- well, he was wrong when he said it and he was wrong when he wrote it. Her response: " but he is the professor."
  10. Oh yes, that huge risk of the catcher getting injured in the 9th inning and not being able to continue which happens almost never. Of course you have to back off the "Leon has trouble catching Kimbrel argument" because we both know that that never entered into Farrell's thinking.
  11. And he didn't throw over. He just wanted him to shorten his lead and the inexperienced base runner panicked dove back.
  12. And sometimes they don't and those are the times that I speak up.
  13. I kept having to remind myself that we are chasing the Jays last night. My hatred for the pinstripes is in my DNA and it is hard to break the habit even momentarily.
  14. I like the way you think.
  15. Max, as a lawyer you would go broke if you took cases on a contingency basis. Let's keep a lookout for Farrell replacing Leon in 9th innings because he has issues catching Kimbrel. I don't even think this entered into Farrell's thinking. He would need an additional neuron to give it this much thought.
  16. Is there anyone here who would honestly say that Wright's name was even in the top 3 names that came to mind in that situation. Perfect kill shot for the pro-Farrell argument with regard to this move. Good work MVP. Anyone who was thinking "put wright in to pinch run" raise your hands.
  17. When a pinch runner is on the bases.
  18. When he is right, I don't give him wrong. I only criticize when I feel that he is wrong.
  19. I am not the one who started speculating that he was banged up as an excuse. LOL!
  20. i would defer to his knowledge only on days when I could be certain that both of his neurons were functioning
  21. i never said that you were always wrong, and neither is Farrell.
  22. I am glad to see that Leon is back in the lineup and that he has recovered from any imagined ailment that we speculated about to get Farrell off the hook for letting Holiday bat in the 9th yesterday
  23. Vin Scully: "He steps off the rubber and looks at first" TalkSox game thread: "Dick!"
