  1. What a joke of a move. This is weaker than Martin Perez or Garrett Richards.
  2. Matz to the Cards. Another SP comes off the boards. Graveman to White Sox. IMO he is an elite reliever and he will team up with Hendricks and Kimbrel. That will be tough at the end of games. Will we get a Thanksgiving acquisition as in years gone bye?
  3. Rick Miller was pretty good.
  4. He has some power, but he still has to develop consistency getting on base and refine his fielding.
  5. i have had enough of him. Time to move in.
  6. This is shocking and very sad.
  7. I hope that I get a Bloom Jersey for Christmas. I will give my Dave jersey to Good Will.
  8. Both Bogey and Devers are building blocks. Sign them both.
  9. it also seemed to be a September thing.
  10. The only problem being that Duran can’t hit and he is lousy in CF.
  11. If the trend is going to continue that starting pitchers will go 3-5 innings, I wouldn’t invest big money is starting pitchers. I’d allocate more money to acquire bullpen pitchers that aren’t a crapshoot.
  12. Ooops! At least, he isn’t on the Yankees.
  13. But he is a finalist for Best Garbage Can Drummer.
  14. Heaney is a disaster.
  15. I am glad that JD will be back. He has been an elite offensive performer for years and should continue to be. He also doesn’t embarrass himself. Schwarber isn’t worth more than $14 million per year. He is extremely slow footed and he is an accident waiting to happen in the field. He embarrasses himself in the field.
  16. Good moves. Both were terrible acquisitions.
  17. The Cubs just let him walk and he got only a 1 year deal.
  18. It is not a worse case. I would rather lock him up for a multi year (3 or 4) at a much Lower AAV than the QO or move onto someone else.
  19. I am one of the 2 no’s, because I think he would accept it.
  20. Agreed, but it has become too automatic a move for some managers. If they are doing their jobs, they should be able to see subtle changes with the pitcher’s stuff or command or that batters are reacting better after a couple of looks.
  21. At $11.5 million he is a bargain. I don’t think he is worth much more as he is little more than a very slow-footed DH. I would look elsewhere. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/kyle-schwarber-red-sox-declines-option-free-agent.html
  22. In Brooklyn, the parents cut little slack to the kid umpires. They would argue with an infant ump.
  23. I believe in playing the percentages, but taking a pitcher out the 3rd time through the order is not like playing the odds at the craps table. At the crap table, there is no such thing as a hot roller, but on the mound, pitchers can be having a genuinely good day where they are mowing down the opposition. Pitchers don’t go to the mound with the same stuff every time out. Taking out a pitcher who is in command purely because of the 3 rd time through the order stats is not playing the odds. It’s a cop out by managers who get paid to know when their pitchers are still effective or if they are tired etc. Taking them out at the 3rd turn through the order argues for Robo managers.
  24. I was asked as a 13 year old to umpire a game for farm league kids. I had to call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher because they had no mask or equipment. I did it as a favor to the guy running the league. It is really hard calling pitches from behind the mound when kids are lobbing the ball. If it lands in the catchers glove, it passes over the batter’s head. If it passes the batter in the zone, it rolls to the catcher. The parents and managers were brutal about my umpiring and they tried to cheat also. The game was played under protest, because the one coach assisted one of his players in running from 3rd base. It was a terrible experience.
  25. The numbers listed for the starting pitchers are too high considering that the in vogue strategy for starting pitchers is to go 3-5 innings at most.
